Obviously Saka’s goal and pen were big moments, but for me it was when he ran half the length of the pitch to block the cross from Widmer. Amazing
100% man
He was strolling back beforehand as the crossball came over. Just in nick o time
Our best player so far deffo, don't get the peno fuss but he's clearly been our most consistent player.
I'm a Newcastle fan but Saka was absolutely brilliant, he's usually one of our best, and I love him for the way he shrugged off the disgusting abuse he got in the past, and then does that. Absolute undeniable balls of steel. Pride of England.
Does this for Arsenal all the time mate. Arsenal fans are laughed at when we say he’s better than Foden. But he’s not just G/A’s he works for the team will double up and help defend the best wingers and then win games in vital moments.
Hes the most unselfish/ humble star player I’ve ever seen. he’s played RW/LWB/RWB in one game and just gets on with it ! 💫
I'm surprised no one noticed Shaw's presence. Once he came on the mids didn't have to babysit the left side of the pitch to advance the ball anymore.
I’m so pleased to see Shaw back
Honestly he dominated
We've needed someone experienced in playing left back , don't know why trippier was starting over Gomez considering Gomez has played more games and played at left back for half the season for Liverpool and performed well.
It's about time we played someone that can actually play that position.
Even just him making the dummie runs, something trippier wouldn’t even consider doing. Created that shot for eze when both the men went with Shaw
@@IceClawz. The second I saw him overlap I was so fucking happy man
‘If you want to moan right now, FUCK OFF’ LOL 😂😂😂
Eloquently and nicely put.
This was spot on 👌
@Broonzyblake No prizes for playing better and losing

@@NotoriousJawz Yeah if we lose I won't be saying it, you're right. Mainly because we probably won't be playing well. But in the meantime I'll be enjoying the win today, thanks.
Did you see Cold Palmer walking around with a ball under his arm whilst we were preparing for pens? He stepped up big time.

He was confident
He enjoyed that very much
He's number one best player in the world

If this isn’t 34 minutes of Jim saying how much he loves Saka, I don’t wanna watch it.
That was definitely better but more improvement needed. I do love how we always find a way to win though. Felt so good for Saka when he scored that penalty
Long shots!!! We had two in this match and scored one. So worth while
Exactly, as long as we get the job done. Look at Madrid in some years winning the UCL despite being under the cosh. As awful as we’ve been most the time, I love the winning mentality we’re showing
Jeniffer Lopez Allcott is right. At some point we gotta just enjoy the ride because we may end up winning the whole thing and then look back and realise we were miserable the whole time.
really good point. I think England reaching the 2018 semi and 2020 final has kinda spoilt the fans a bit, it would feel a lot more special if we hadn’t done those I guess.
I’m now convinced that England are gonna beat out Greece and Portugal for the title of worst team to win the Euros
You might be spot on. We've played awful every game bar this one. Obviously there were issues this game but overall we've been awful and saved by individual talents.
Only Spain have played decent so far but they'll get beaten by France in the semi-final.
Us or France for sure lol
Yes there will always be an excuse if England win.
"The other teams were terrible"
"England got a lucky penalty" (example v Denamrk at 2021)
"They beat worst German team ever"
"They were at home, so had advantage"
"They got lucky draw".
People never happy! I'm sure other teams got lucky too in last. England had so much bad luck in past tournaments, maybe it's balancing out a bit?!
Either way, England made their own luck by winning opening games and topping groups in their recent tournaments. That helps to get a good draw.
Absolutely dross football from both teams. I’d feel like a fraud winning a tournament playing this and scraping through the soft side of the draw.
As a gooner I was shitting it the most for saka for sure
As a spurs fan....the boy did good
Same, anyone can miss but him
Don't think he's done much wrong to be honest got subbed off twice for Palmer but people still act he's played every minute. The abuse he got when he missed was disgusting, u can't help but love him he's such a likeable character
Just root for your national team mate. This is forever the issue with English fans.
Always view international footy through the lens of club footy. Club over country bothers me to no end.
Just enjoy rooting for country
This is the type of performance that will begin to gain Saka that world class title, stepped up big style. Loved seeing him score his pen, from a toon fan 👌
Trent deserved that moment ❤

Terrible for 80 minutes.
The one time that Kyle Walker played a decent pass in front of Bukayo, he crossed it in for Jude's goal in the first game of the tournament. Kyle Walker's actively starving Bukayo's creativity.
Saka man, what a special player. So proud of him. How much he’s grown. Also a defensive monster.
England are clearly channeling the spirit of every single Italy victory in history
Shaw being back is a massive bonus. GS won't change so we'll still be shit but having a left footer on the left adds something at a basic level
The formation suits the team better but Southgate needs to makes substitutions sooner. No point sticking on fresh legs when we are behind and have less than 15 mins to go.
What formation? I was expecting a back three with sake lb and trippier rb but then they started and bothe were just doing exactly the same as the other times. Bizzare
On the one positive, southgate has been making the right subs but yeah they are 10/15 mins later than they should
We've been saying this for 8 years. Southgate will never learn
The formation suits the team? They were losing with that formation, the moment he changed the formation with subs they scored.
It’s awesome to win but surely Southgate can see how much better the team is when he takes off half the starting line up
This is an underrated comment!
You know he doesn't see that
I don’t get it. We go a goal down. Gareth brings on subs to score since goals - they do so why weren’t they on from the start??
Game of four quaters. Everyone knows that. 😂
for me it’s mainly just when Trippier comes off, and Shaw is a really nice sub to have now. Feels a bit harsh to Kobbie. Kane though… thank god he went off.
How Kane is starting is beyond me. He has been dreadful.
I’m Scouse and a Liverpool fan. Don’t get that worked up watching England but my god watching Trent take the 5th pen. Not good for my health.
If Trent had missed we never would have heard the end of it.
I'm an Evertonian and not English. I don't root for Pickford cause I don't want England to win.

Last week u would have called the same fans arrogant
I agree, I'm not English, nor do I want them to win the semi (I'm Dutch). Yes their attack has been static and poor all tournament, but the negativity is crazy to me. For a country that has only got to two finals you'd think they'd say, "oh well, at least we've made it here". We haven't played well at all either, but all of Holland is very happy to be in the semi finals
Ready salted crisps, sparking water and butter sandwiches
That’s Southgate’s England playing style!

I would say, raw potato, tap water and 3 slices of plain toast.
Great! And it’s got us to the semis

@NotoriousJawz yes but it seems like there's a lot of people who aren't enjoying the wins, and instead just focusing on how bad we've been. It's Man United fan mentality - would rather see us fail just to get the manager out than just back the boys even if the manager is shit. Enjoy it whilst we're here because tbh we should have gone out in the RO16.
People can’t handle it that we are winning games , PEOPLE WOULD RATHER BE RIGHT AND SEE US LOSE

He's like Bowen. He works at a different pace to rest. And mixes it up. I love to see him on the pitch
It’s that QPR bias in him 😂 So happy the lad is getting minutes and making an impact 👌
He achieved nothing in open play, wasteful. But he 'tried' and 'was direct' so people think he was good
Why is no one talking about the Toney pen?
As in the one we should have been given on the last moment of ET

The "could we?" camera will never not be funny 😂
I just couldn't see a back three at all, I felt like the BBC were gaslighting me lol, it was the same formation but the instructions were different. Clearly Trippier had been told to push higher and stay wide, while Foden was pushed inside and given freedom to rotate with Bellingham. Saka absolutely was not playing as a wing back, and Walker was still attacking the byline on overlaps, he was just also being more cautious when Trippier advanced. It was the same system and everyone was telling me it wasn't, I started doubting my own eyes
The BBC pundits and commentators are ridiculously bad. I had to mute them.
Every time one of them opened their mouths, I felt myself getting dumber... so glad the semi's on ITV.
Everything you said is true but the general shape of the team was a 3-2-2-3. Basically 3-2-2-2 though cause we played with 10 men for 110 mins.
Anthony Gordon not getting time on the pitch is the most baffling decision of this tournament and the single biggest reason why Southgate's management of this group of players should be derided.
honestly who gives af, it’s just one player and it’s not like we’re keeping Pele on the bench or something. I’d loved to have seen Gordon’s pace vs Slovakia’s old RB on a yellow, I’d loved to have seen him run at Schar after his yellow yesterday… but oh well! we’re in the semi-final. It’s not like we lost and we can argue what we’d have done differently.
Great show, your enthusiasm is catching 👍
The intro was your best ever James and why you are the RUclipsr I respect most. Telling the haters to F off whilst admitting that there may be some truth to those comments but that doesn’t change their lack of usefulness at this stage - spot on!
Stones, rice, tripps and foden have been playing negatively. Bellingham, saka, palmer and mainoo are forward thinking. Rice hasnt been linking up properly
Firmly a neutral on the international state. I'm from the States and we are exceptionally mediocre to bad every 4 years.
I respect the hell out of what you said to start the video. Sport is hard, you're through, so celebrate it.
James I love how you can get the positive out of all situations and appreciate the moments.
Though this England team may help people understand West Ham fans and their view on David Moyes.
Respect this so much James 🏴 COMEEEE ONNNNNNNNNN
Waiting to 73 minutes or 94 minutes to have a shot on target is abysmal however you want to phrase it. It’s pure luck England are still going, they are the international equivalent of Man U last season, not idea what they are doing, solely relying on opposition missing and someone doing something out of nothing
Might be time to see a bit of Gordon now. I hope so.
It seems Southgate doesn’t rate him by the looks of it, he’s everything we’ve needed in my opinion but I can’t see him getting any more minutes now
Its so weird to my how Southgate won’t play Gordon. I felt in the first game all England needed was width on the left. Football is simple, but Southgate is making it so complicated.
Big improvement finally 🎉Game was just crying out for earlier subs. Kane ghosted and should have come off. We looked so much better when Shaw and Eze came on, we actually started to have some very decent attacks down the LHS.
Only one team tried to win in extra time. Really sad. You've played the same way as Scotland but with better players. Torture
What improvement? We were awful again and deservedly went behind.
It was only after we conceded that Southgate tried to win the game. We looked like a genuinely good team for that final 15 minutes... then extra time and Southgate played for penalties yet again.
England have the players to win the euros, but not the manager. It's going to cost us.
I'd love it if Southgate put Bellingham in a false 9, I still want Gordon wide for pace and something different, guess I'm accepting that it won't happen. Could play Palmer/Foden/Saka behind Bellingham, Mainoo/Rice
Kane is definitely holding the team back, looks injured.
Massive improvement, the team was fantastic in the first half with great intensity and pressing, on another day we score 1 or 2 with our quality in the final third. I think Southgate had to sub earlier, to try and release the pressure the Swiss built in the second half.
Mainoo was fantastic for me. Saka obviously. Bellingham too
As a non England fan
Kane definitely has the Ronaldo effect during this tournament where he’s playing simply because of the past form, Toney has been a much more effective player when he’s come on
Mainoo has been the best midfielder for you
Walker seems extremely poor
Overall I don’t think you have to play exciting amazing football to get through, there’s been so much moaning about Southgate but everyone knows his style isn’t exciting, yet you’ve got to another semi, and possibly given the luck of the drawn could be in another final, he gets alot of grief but tournament football doesn’t allow pep style football, it may be boring but England fans have had 2 moments in this tournament that they’ll cherish with Bellinghams goal and the pen shootout win, it doesn’t matter how he does it Southgate just gets the job done, no matter how much fans think they know best he continues to get the results
I don't understand your player ratings. What you're saying is making sense, but the numbers doesn't follow it imo. To me atleast, a scale from 1 - 10 makes 5 average, and when you're calling out, f.ex. Kyle Walker for being below expectations he shouldn't be anywhere near a 6. Maybe I'm harsh, but only a handful of players would ever get near 9s or 10s and a bang average performance should be awarded accordingly.
LFC fan here, when Gareth subbed TAA at 115 minutes I knew that he is bringing him for penalties and I wanted to Kxxl Southgate for being such a cowered and hid behind young players and ruin them mentally!
I am glad that it went well for Trent but imagine if Trent had not score!
Trent is not first, not second not even third penalty taker in Liverpool. Saka, palmer, Ivan are penalty taker of their respective clubs
Never in doubt with Trent as a Liverpool fan. As soon as Saka scored I knew we'd won. Toney was never missing, and Trent wasn't missing. I was worried for Saka more for him than us, but that kid's got some serious balls. So happy for him.
It's Coming Home.
Yes I'm glad we're in the semi-final, and yes, last night's performance was an improvement on their previous showings, BUT we're still going to have to improve a lot more if we're hoping to win this tournament. I can see us beating the Dutch, and I think we can beat the French, but I don't fancy our chances against Spain unless we're at our very best.
England’s win is similar to Labour’s win in the election: on the surface there is a hugely positive feeling for the whole country with a real feeling of increased hope that we can win the whole thing/sort the mess of public services out but with some ominous signs still lurking not too far under the surface. Fingers crossed!
If you could only have one, which would you choose: England winning the Euros or a guarantee that an ambulance will be with you within 20 minutes of a medical emergency for the next 12 years?
I'm with you on Kane. People have talking about Walker and that's fair enough but I want to see Toney start now. Kane would be great to bring on with 20 minutes left when we're holding a lead or chasing an equaliser

There is no doubt that Kane is an incredible goalscorer and one of the best strikers in the last 10 years. However, he is having a bad tournament. With the way England play there is a lack of running in behind and Kane can't use his passing ability when dropping back.
We need someone who is in form and can hold the ball up well, get quick passes out wide and also arrive for deliveries into the box. The way Southgate is setting the side up means Kane is just a passenger

As a West Ham fan, I was terrified he was going to bring on Bowen and go on to miss a pen
I think if Shaw now plays with this same team we could finally see us put in a good performance vs Netherlands! I just pray we make changes quicker, i saw their goal coming a mile off, changes were needed by the 60th minute, we were crying out for them & they didnt come till it was too late
Appreciate the positive vibes James. The team have done well, ok a bit disjointed but I don’t think people give the opposition enough credit, most of which have parked the bus and just made it incredibly difficult to break them down. This was a much better performance and hopefully we can look even better against Netherlands and make the final!
Much improved performance. There's a lot more to improve upon but some foundation of promise to build on
We play better when the players throw Southgate's 'tactics' out of the window and play their own football!
So weird I had a feeling Eze would miss too! Glad it didn’t come to that ofc 😅
I said the exact same to my family. He was gonna miss 😂😂
19:44 Ah the great Ben Walker.
Great result and a fair performance, but WE DON'T HAVE AN EFFECTIVE STRIKER, fitness or whatever, Kane doesn't deserve to be on that pitch, it's like playing with 10 men. Amazing individual performance from Saka, Cole (ice cold) Palmer stepping up to slot that penalty, great work from Pickford, Mainoo and most of them, but limited threat on goal from that starting 11 and formation
Konsa looked amazing, needs more of a shout out
It felt inevitable Trent was gonna be the miss if anyone, but honestly I was very confident on penalties as we have 2 basically guaranteed scorers (palmer Toney) and 2 more strong ones (saka Bellingham) then the relative unknown in Trent.
'if you want to moan now, fuck off'
You're a real one Jim, you're a real one
i think we were alright best performance yet
To all my English friends in this comment section I wish you guys all the best in the Semi’s, but I think we will beat England 2-1.
Saka masterclass!!
"Ben Rayner, piss off!"
I'll be disgusted if Southgate gets to claim our first trophy since 66. It's dispite him. He fulfilled his purpose by changing the mood around the national team, but the squad outgrew him after the last Euros. He's absolutely clueless tactically, the only tactical changes he made was to get good pen takers on. On a plus side best 5 pens I've seen
I don’t think you watched a single second of this video did you? if we win the tournament of course he did his job, purely changing the mood around the team and eliminating the cliques WAS the important job. But just enjoy it, just chill out with the Gareth hate, just enjoy the win and the penalties.
"I'll be disgusted" grow up bro
Liverpool fan here, that Trent pen had me insanely stressed. And I'm not even English
As a neutral, I was so glad when Saka and Trent scored their pens. Had they missed, the abuse would have been off-the-charts (by rival fans and the loud minority) and such an injustice. Saka’s been the one attacker who hasn’t dropped a stinker (and scored a worldie) and this was so fitting after the last euros final. For Trent, he’s been a scqpegoat for essentially being shoe-horned into an unfamiliar role and a system that does not make use of his strengths. Both of these guys represent what’s so good about this generation of English footballers and I hope they get their flowers.
I've been a pessimist all tournament. I am now an optimist. We can win this tournament. Let's go do it!
They didn't attack well or pressure the ball. Played kind of slow. But all 5 pens were elite! Toney doing the no-look and Trent smashing it top bins. Fucking limbs at the end!!
Love you
I think we were better in the first half bc we weren't leggy. 120 min back to back is killer.
Much more positive when the left hand changed. We have to start palmer and shaw next match
Happy to see them do well, would never wish otherwise.
The big question on my mind is: Is Southgate the right manager for this team? Especially thinking about working towards the next World Cup?
I think most people would have said no, even up to a couple days ago. I love what Southgate had done for this team over the years but I think the answer is still no.
Now that England are in the semis and potentially the final, are the chances of him parting ways with this team greatly reduced? I’ve heard he was planning to step down regardless of results, but if they reach the final and he decides to stay surely the FA wouldn’t fire him. Or would they?
Attacking wise was still only OK but defensively thought we were pretty good, they stopped the Swiss from playing their game. Think walker is playing within himself. The only thing that worries me about kane is his lack of movement everytime saka got one on one kane was stood stationary in the middle. I thought we did alright to be fair
Palmer didn't affect as much the game because he had to deal with Foden getting in the way
If Foden is going to start, just freshen up the game by taking him off for Palmer and it'll just be comfortable for both, doesn't change the system and just means a fresher and faster England. SIMPLE
Like 2012 its only a matter of who wants to get tonked by Spain in the final.
The only changes I would make for the semi-final are Guéhi for Walker, Konza played really well, and Walker has been very average this tournament. The other one would be Shaw for Trippier.
Giving Foden a 7 is outrageous. He was so poor yet again.
Ya know what Jim, I will moan thank you. Can you believe the ridiculous prices of 99's from the ice cream van these days...? Absolutely obscene.
Belief starts today
I love you JLA but did you say we go for it in the second half?
Thoughts on starting Toney or Watkins, then bringing Kane in later on to grab a winner?
It was slightly better from England and those penalties have got to give you confidence! For me, if Shaw still isn't fit to start, we could at least try Gordon at LWB, more dynamic. Can then bring on Shaw later if we need to go defensive or Eze if we want our penalty takers on the pitch. Heck, could even bring on Trippier as he's a good penalty taker.
BUKAYOOOOO SAKA
kane doesnt fit the system so england need to change the system or drop him. they dont utilize his skillset
I've watched the man for nearly 10yrs. He's a man that looks to preserve his energy, be he 23 be he 30. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills about Kane. Our xG is rock bottom. And we look to blame the best in Europe that turns xG into goals. Let's take a second a realise we need to create better chances for one of the best finishers of all time.
There currently is not a system for him to fit
This is the content I need. Yes we wernt spectacular, but can’t we just be happy ffs?
I think palmer did better than you give credit, he made a good impact upto extra time and then everyone died off
You need to do a video about Kane
Not a brilliant performance but there was an improvement and just important getting there. Important question now is can Shaw start next game and do we stick with the same formation or switch back.
Dont like being negative but I would prefer Southgate to make his changes much sooner - it felt like the Italy game again where he made changes once something happened as opposed to making subs to change the game.
