  • I really wasn't expecting to find any bodges on this machine, but here is one with the gearbox oil level plug. The lockwiring, which was removed before making this video was very neatly done and looked very professional, but it was done to aid and abet a cunning cover up!
    I mentioned a similar thing happening when I worked on a T100, but I should have said TR5 and I think some aspects of my work on that one's engine and gearbox can be found among my videos, as well.

    Lock wired in , that’s acceptable. Ptfe tape and oil that’s going to be a gungy mess. Better off with a bit of thin leather round the threads.
    Or better still, a bolt that can be tightened!

    standard M10 has almost 17 tpi (m10x1,5) M10 fine nearly 20 tpi (m10x1,25)

      I would have used standard then. The original plug had 16 tpi and 3/8" diameter, so it was easy to tap out to the M10 size.
