But I also think Yamaha kinda screwed this one up as its really not much different than a Sidewinder. It was just Yamaha's answer to "we don't have anything new this year so this is what you are going to get".
@@NorthernRiderOffroad You can Buy a Skidoo 800 or 850 Two Stroke with Direct Injection light fun to ride but Yamaha and Artic with the 4 stroke Turbo are faster .. heavier and last way more miles between rebuilds .. there are a lot of good choices out there win win .. and Polaris handle great .. the Big 4 sled makers make great sleds .. My Yamaha Attack eats up many sleds but the Skidoo Renagde 137" track is more fun to ride and slightly better mpg than 2006 Yamaha .. both are happy with low Octane gas ..
I have a 01 SRX 700 and it handles 10x better than my dads 02 ZR 800 xc. I put a long-travel kit on it to help with travel. My problem with useing the SRX emblem is that this sled is just like the rest of the yama-cats. Turbo 4stroke bla bla bla. Im sure its an awesome sled but it is just a cookie cutter type sled. There was no mistaking the old SRX.
u got a point, every other sled u see is a yamaha or cat and they look so fckn similar. The older sleds all had different bodies and chassis, they all looked different, there was no mistaking it..now a days they all look alike and i dont know if im looking a cat or yamaha from afar.
I so wish that I didn't pass on the Powersurge/Snowcheck one that was in my name at the dealership that I work at. Enjoying my 2001 SRX 700, but would of loved a new beast. Unfortunately, $18000 on a seasonal machine was the deal breaker. Thanks for the great video and for rubbing my nose in what I let slip through my fingers.
The only sled that could beat me on the Bigfork River back in the day was my buddies 600 SRX. It was literally amazing and disappointing at the same time. I even saw him beat a new SRX 700 at a radar run. They were definitely fast! This new one is so awesome looking! I dont think theres a better looking snowmobile, and I'm a Ski Doo guy. Oh, wait a minute. The new Lynx! In a perfect world, one should have both!
I disagree about the 1998-2002 SRX s weakness being it's handling. Nothing corners like an old SRX on the trails. They are like a go-kart and you feel like you are sitting on the snow. The big weakness was their suspension .. there was none :-) still driving my 2002 with a polaris skid added for a much better suspension and ride
1976 Yamaha SRX 440CC Liquid was pretty close to an oval racer.. I am still Happy with my 2006 Yamaha Attack .. but this new Sled seems to have all the Goodies you have to add to the older sleds to make them the way you want them .. Very Cool , Price and Weight ?
Electronic adjustable suspension has been done over a decade ago on previous Yamaha models. From my past experience with my Apex wires and electrical components in a suspension skid full of ice and snow do not mix well together. Hopefully they have it figured out better this time?
If i was riding trails only i’d think about a yammie. Unfortunately i need machine to check fence lines, and as such i get stuck from time to time. I hated getting my nytro 144 stuck my back aches even thinking about it. Beautiful on the trail

Yeah i think you meant it the other way around. Yamaha makes all the 4 stroke engines for Arctic Cat. They may be green on the outside. But their hearts are blue
@@AustinMBecker Apex is mistake they are ashamed of. The design of the exhaust system was just awful. There is a reason why they are getting away from that design.

If I won the lottery I'd have one, 18g for a seasonal toy no matter how awsome it is is too much. Id need to trailer 6 hours north every weekend to get the miles on it . Locally its a crap shoot, some winters we get a couple decent months of riding , others a couple weeks or none at all.
Im running a 01 SRX and i wouldn't trade it for this thing on a bet. I like how poeple call my tripple heavy and than throw a leg over one of these tankers
@@jasonwulff8341 On come on guys, I've owned the same sled you are talking about and I wouldn't even consider putting on 50 miles on your sled when given the choice between that an a ride-forward chassis. Don't get me wrong...these were great sleds, but they ride like crap in any sort of bumps compared to the sleds today...regardless of weight.
@@PartTimeYooper o yeah I'm going to agree with you on the hard bumps these new sleds have a huge advantage. I don't like sitting way up in the air tho. I like being tucked back like im in a cockpit. As far as the motor go's i likethe way my tripple runs better than 4strokes. I've ridden the cats,ski-doos and Yamaha's. Im just not into the forward rider style.

That being said its closer to the ground so on smooth trails it rides like a sports car but huge roller moguls and they have to weight for me. Maybe im stuck in my ways but I think if these companies badge a sled SRX, T-cat, XCR, Mach...... and so on they should be a tripple 2 stroke. If u have a 4stroke name it something else.
I have the old Mountain SRX 700 triple. Engine just gave way last spring. And I'd love this new SRX Turbo. But I don't have money for it. Took me twenty years to finally get myself the old 1998 Mountain SRX 700. RUclips Aninga32 to see it.

I had a 98' mountain srx triple triple years ago. No one could touch it on the river. What an awesome machine to bring back!

I would have to take exception with the idea that srxs did not handle well. that is exactly what they were set up for and the handling was phenomenal.

Nice Sled. Miss my old 1980 SRX440. Won many races, poker rally’s with that sled. Small, light, fast.
