      @Ryan_Christopher 3 года назад +4

      Because the issued gas masks are for actual chemical warfare agents and not for toxic industrial chemicals or materials (TICs/TIMs). Wearing them might signal to the rest that an actual chemical attack is underway.
      What they need are full-face respirators with HEPA pre-filters and toxic chemical cartridges. They would need to be trained in respirator usage and fit-tested for them according to worker safety laws. That is a huge undertaking and federal safety laws do not necessarily apply in a combat zone. The military may opt to follow civilian safety laws when it suits them, but in this case they choose the exemption to the law.

      @Marijuanifornia 3 года назад +2

      The solution is to legalize marijuana like we did during World War II.
      Cannabis Sativa is hemp. Cannabis Sativa is also "Marijuana." Cannabis Sativa was outlawed in 1937 as the world's most dangerous drug, "Marihuana." But after the attack at Pearl Harbor, the US Department of Agriculture made a 14-minute instructional film for American farmers titled *Hemp For Victory* on how to cultivate and harvest Cannabis Sativa to make equipment for the military during World War II. The Federal license to grow hemp that is shown three minutes into the video reads, "Producer of Marihuana."
      Industrial hemp can be made into virtually anything that is not glass or metal. Ford Motor Company made a plastic car body using hemp in 1941, and the 2008 Lotus Eco Elise sportscar was made nearly entirely from hemp. There are videos of both vehicles on RUclips. This means that any plastic products ranging from cellophane to water bottles to laptop computers could have been made non-toxic from the stalks of "Marihuana" plants since our grandparents were young.
      Additionally, the US Department of Agriculture reported in Bulletin 404 written in 1916 that one acre of Cannabis hemp can make as much paper as four acres of trees, which means that global deforestation could have ended over 100 years ago.
      The 1942 USDA film, Hemp For Victory, was kept out of history books and public debates from 1945 until 1989, and has been ignored by everyone for the 30 years that it's been public. There is an official US National Archives link to the video available through any search engine. It is also available on several RUclips channels. It's been on everyone's cellphones for years and no one notices.
      The film is only 14-minutes long and changes the last 75 years of human history, US domestic and foreign policy, and global industry.

      Garbage isn't necessarily garbage. I'll agree we can do better, but imagining it's all useless garbage is not the right starting point. In a combat zone, anything can be weaponized. For what it's worth, I've seen 2 such pits personally. I thought at the time how horrible it was, but it does serve a purpose.

    I'm a veteran. Feels like no one really cares about us. People say thank you for your service but from most its just a phrase, not a true sentiment. I was a Marine Corps recruiter for three years. It's very clear that when you're out in the community and talking to families that most look down on the military. I served 22 years. I would say that nearly 90% of those I came in contact with could care less. I also feel that the VA minimizes our injuries and issues to save money and not pay out for claims. Not everyone would agree but these have been my experiences. The sacrifices made by our military is incomprehensible unless you have served or had family members that served.
    Some truly respect us. But sadly most do not..
