Honda Civic vs Mazda 3 - This is the one I'd buy and why

- Introduced in 1972, the Honda Civic is by many considered the blueprint for what a compact sedan should be. The 2022 Honda Civic is the 11th-generation and it hasn’t forgotten where it comes from.
It has a brand new interior and exterior design with a new dialed down, more elegant lines than before. Personally I think it’s a huge step in the right direction moving into a design with a more defined identity and less overstyling.
The 2022 Honda Civic comes in four different trims and two engine options. The first is a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine generating 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque while the more powerful 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine develops 180 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque.
With the 2.0L engine, the Civic will receive up to 31 miles per gallon in the city and 40 miles per gallon on the highway. Despite the 1.5L turbo engine having more power and torque, it also has better fuel economy.
It gets up to 33 miles per gallon in the city and 42 miles per gallon on the highway.
Compared to the Honda Civic, the Mazda 3 still feels like a newcomer in this segment. Introduced in 2003, the current 2022 Mazda 3 is on its fourth generation which was unveiled in 2019.
It has almost the same exact exterior dimensions as the Civic however the Mazda 3 does have a slightly more cramped interior. The most noticeable difference will be the rear seat legroom, where the Mazda 3 feels a lot smaller than the Civic.
You do get more engine options with the 2022 Mazda 3. There is a 2.0L 4-cylinder, only found in its base model, making 155 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque. There’s also a 2.5L 4-cylinder making 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque.
The third and last option is a 2.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine making 227 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Mazda offers both FWD and AWD for the 3 however you can only choose between the two on the mid 2.5L engine. The 2.0L is only offered as a FWD and the 2.5L turbo is only available in AWD.
Both vehicles have a starting price at around $21,000 for the base models however the 2022 Civic can climb up to $28,300 for the loaded Touring model and the top of the line 2.5L Turbo Premium Plus Mazda 3 will cost you $32,600.

Even though the civic is new…and looks decent, it doesn’t look like what I would expect a car of 2022 to would look. This design should have been done from last gen. The Mazda 3 on the other hand, has a very modern and elegant look. The rear of the Mazda is some what Alfa Romeo-ish.
I was thinking the exact same thing that this civic should have been what the previous civic was and therefore looks a bit outdated, could not agree more
I find the new Civic to be absolutely hideous, ngl. The front fascia looks too much like a lobster 🦞 for me. And the angle of the hood is too hunched over, just looks weird. I hope the Type R gets much better treatment.
@@cutch42 yeah it’s just doesn’t have that wow factor. When you look at what Kia and Hyundai are doing(even though they are a bit over-styled), they still creat more excitement. When you look at that Kia EV, you can see that Kia is in the further in terms of design. Honda is taking no risks with design and if they do, it will probably look like what happened with the 10th gen Accord and Civic. They need a whole new team with better taste in design.
@@keino11168910th gen civic looks good, but the 11th gen one looks hideous in my opinion
@@gabrielgiron4273 You nailed it with "hunched over" nose. Now I cant unsee the red lobster.
I would pick the Mazda 3. I am actually quite sick of all those super sharp lines and overstyled cars, like Hyundai is doing at the moment. I think those cars are going to look aged, pretty fast, while simpler cars are going to keep looking nice.
The Civc is a pretty simple car as well. Both of them try to give you different feels when you sit inside one. In the civic you feel like you are in a family car from the 90s but a simple and decent drive. In the Mazda 3 you feel like you are in family car as well as a rally/sporty car. It is the kind of marketing that attract difference into people based on preference.
----- Civic still give me that 90's Accord feeling back in the day my dad had one as well as a 94 civic , the new civic is kind of a return to they 80's and 90's model in the interior and in some of the exterior, and little bit for their hatchback version of the civic.
I'm the opposite. I love a car with bold styling. Something stand out from all the other cookie cutter vehicles.
For real!!
Those Honda car looks so ugly and boring, it's gets worse when i see those garbage Honda MPV or SUV like who tf design their car to looks like sh*t??
Seriously i would take Mazda 3 any day, not only its looks great but the car itself is more reliable than Honda while Mazda also more comfortable to drive.
@@jraheemjefcoat429 Do you like new Elantra then? If not, why?
I agree!
The 3 sedan is beautiful!
Especially in Soul Red Crystal Metallic!
Just by the looks I would pick the Mazda 3 but in it’s hatchback version, also, the metallic red paint they have is beautiful, a pain in the butt to match if damaged but very attractive haha
@Jason King I do.
@Jason King ok
I have a 2021 Mazda3 sedan in that metallic red. Long story short, the front passenger door was backed into and the paint match is just not the same :/
@Jason King they’re the only manufacturer that went positive in sales in 2021
@Jason King that’s why I bought one.
I really love that you added the interior, because I believe Mazda did one heck of a job, that shouldn't be ignored, with that interior.

I have the 2018 Mazda 3 Hatchback GT Snow flake white. 3rd generation design but still gorgeous car. I installed the black diffuser under the front bumper so now it looks extra sporty. After 3 years of ownership the car has been very reliable and fun to drive. Love my Mazda 3 GT.
@@fasteddie7376 when you bought yours did you know that next year they would be coming out with a whole new generation? Cause I was bummed when I found out they were coming out with a turbocharged engine a year after I bought my 19
@@hovojefe I had some buyer's remorse, but not to much because of the turbo charged engine that was coming out, but rather because of the new body design that was introduced in 2019. The reason I took the 2018 model was because it was the last one in the dealer inventory, and I got a huge discount because they wanted to get ride of it because the new 2019 were starting to come in. But I am satisfied with the 2.5 natural inspiration engine as it is a fast car even without the turbo.
The Civic is soooo generic and boring looking. If not for the Honda badge it could be any number of cars from the past 10 years or more. Mazda 3 all the way.
The Mazda just looks more refined. I wish they were sold in Brazil
I don’t care what anyone says, but that Honda Civic is an Accord!
Acura ilx
I think they both got upsized, tbh.
Almost all people here agree that the mazda is far more attractive than the civic. I even prefer the last gen civic over this gen.
I am actually a bit confused that you picked the civic since you gave good reasons for the mazda.
@@chhoyla lol i do want a screen that it isnt touchscreen. the screen is too far away (A LOT) to be able to touch it when driving, and when you learn the controls you can control the screen without taking your look from the road.

idk if acura woukd be a good analogy since honda owns acura

As impressive as what the new Civic gave us, it still lacks the upmarket feel u get from Mazda, especially from the inside, interms of design, especially quality

To me the Civic's retro, yet no nonsense interior dashboard design is the main selling point. Nothing like that on the market in that price range.

@Jason King Was this conversation about sales numbers? Are was it about which car looks better? I'm pretty sure it was that one, and fact still remains that Mazda has the better car.
The new Civic is not only ugly, it looks like a boring drive, too! Mazda 3 looks so much better, sporty, and also has a automatic transmission.
The Mazda 3 body panels are so smooth. Its like they put the concept car straight into production, which is so brave.
I love how the colour looks different from every single angle on the Mazdas, very posh

with all my respect but mazda 3 exterior /interior design simply demolishes the civic !, the civic simply looks dated to say atleast !
@Jason King a car is never judged by its sales,it is judged only by its engineering which mazda is simply superior !
@Jason King and GM sold 1.6 million Chevy Citations. Honda's are fine cars, but some of us don't run with the sheep herd.
@@chhoyla practicality is only one parameter,I will take a cramped rear seats instead of a cvt anyday !!,and the infotainment system will be very hard to touch because it is situated far ahead in the line of sight of the driver to minimize eye pupil movement off the road which increases the active safety of the vehicle !!
I’m tired of seeing so many Hondas on the road plus I just bought my Mazda 3 so I would go with Mazda!
My current 2014 Mazda 3 beats civics on the onramp no problem. I am sure my new 2023 Mazda 3 sport GT will as well.
Mazda3 all the way. No belt/chain design CVT transmission, no small-displacement turbo engine, better styling, more upscale for the same $$$ spent. Mazda builds better ICE vehicles than either Honda or Toyota these days IMO.
as an owner of a first gen mazda 3 im almost amazed by how similar the design of the latest 3 is compared to the first one, not a single design element is copied from the original but every line excluding the front grille feels strongly inspir3d by the first generation
Strongly agree. At nighttime especially
That's what I love about Mazdas, they have a signature look, when civics always go for a "newer" look.
I had a 2005 Mazda 3 and I loved it. This looks similar (but updated). Personally I think Mazdas look way better than all the other cars in that price range.
@@cool7654321 Civic looks trash!! those Honda car looks so generic and boring, whoever design Honda car is really doesn't have good taste.
Mazda makes one of the best (main stream brand) exterior and interior.
Nothing bad with Honda but it's to basic. It looks boring and worser then the older generation.
@Jason King look it's sad that you had to like your own comment, but still if nobody buy Mazda, you can tell me they are not good looking.
I was actually surprised that he picked the Civic. Didn't expect that tbh. I would go for the Mazda, if we are talking about those 2.
@Jason King I mean, I would lol
@Jason King dude you keep saying the same comment
I've seen this exact same thing play out on multiple side-by-side comparisons. The reviewer applauds the Mazda, but almost always gives the nod to Honda. I think this is true for several reasons.
1. The Civic has more space, thus increasing its functionality for families.
2. The Civic can return up to 10 mpg more than the Mazda.
Styling, both interior and exterior are highly subjective, so when you throw all these variables into the mix, the Civic seems to be the most reasonable choice
BUT...
If you don't need the space and the extra mpgs, Mazda is a better choice. It handles better, has a more luxurious ride and a more refined driving experience. It's the first car I've owned that makes me excited to drive! The Zoom Zoom philosophy appears to be a real thing. Also, the interior punches way above its weight class, giving off the vibes of cars twice as expensive! The fit and finish are exceptional!
So, I think the reviewers are trying to be as fair as possible, but nuanced aesthetics, pure driving enjoyment, and success in accomplishing a unified design goal with drivers in mind are hard to assign a number to, because you can't measure them in inches and miles per gallon
Harder choice for me. The Civics gas mileage and the interior is far better & roomier. Really a coin toss for me.

I totally agree with you. The Mazda 3 sedan design looks incredible in person. it is so simple, elegant , and timeless. I love the Mazda hatchback as well in person, but I just don't think the design choices will hold up as long.
Just bought a Mazda 3 Carbon Edition and got the sedan because I liked having the chrome in front rather than the painted black on the fascia of the car. Also the hatch is beautiful on the outside but yea I perfer having rearward visibility.

Mazda 3 all the way for me!
Yes, the Civic looks great, especially in its Touring trim. However, the 3 not only looks great, but it looks and feels special.
Mazda 3 all the way, elegant, simple, just non-gimmicky clean. The Honda Civic looks generic and could have been made 10 years ago.
@Jason King nobody likes Jason King
I'd love to see what Mazda could do with a 2-door fastback design version of the Mazda 3. That would be hot af.
The Mazda 3 has been around since the 70s too. It just used to be called 323, and before that, GLC.
The Honda has the facial expression of someone who has just heard a fart in a crowded elevator and started to catch the first whiff of it.
I wish Honda infotainment was as good as Kia’s
One design element that the Mazda 3 interior has that I like is that the ourboard driver vent mirrors the inboard drivet vent. Honda used to apply this design element into the 8th gen and 9th gen Civic, CR-Z, 2nd Gen Insight, 1st Gen Ridgeline, and Acura ILX. Some cars where I hope Honda brings back this design element will be the Acura Integra, 6th gen CRV, the upcoming USDM HRV, and a hypothetical 4th gen Insight.
If they can fit with your lowered suspension. Very good idea for handling.
The Mazda 3 sedan knocks it out of the park with the looks.
@Jason King Japanese # 1
Both are good looking cars in and out, but the mazda3 looks more elegant. Also, if it wasn't for the badges on the back I wouldn't know if the civic sedan was a honda civic or Volkswagen jetta. Imo I think the previous gen civic sedan had the coolest and most distinctive taillights.
YES THIS. I kept thinking it was a Jetta!!! I'm surprised this wasn't mentioned!
Yea that strong shoulder line on the newer Jettas is actually really nice, and in keeping with more straightforward German design. I do like the newer Accords depending on the color. Nonetheless I drive a newer Mazda 3 sedan in black and just love it. The midsection bends light in a really cool way. But really, the whole car is just so cool looking. Good MPG, reliable, not super quick but not slow, great handling, great interior. No hate on the Accords, I do feel really like their look as well as some of the Civics. Plus mechanically I believe they have independent rear suspension instead of a torsion beam/dead rear axle, so they might handle better. But CVT in Honda vs. 6 speed auto in Mazda is something to consider as far as transmission. Plus no AWD for Honda I believe.
Cool comparison! I have a Mazda 3 HB and love it.
Just for the rear leg room alone, Honda's win over any car brands in the world. Period
I love both of these cars, and I currently own a Mazda 3. I’ve been in the market for a new car for a bit, but it came down to how cramped the Mazda is. I just want more space and to be comfortable.
Mazda for sure, best design ever
confused by the comments here but I love the new design of the civic and got one because of it, plus the amazing depreciation curve. drives really well for an economy car and has every single essential plus a couple extra things I need. I think It looks a bit cleaner than the Mazda 3 although I love the Mazda 3 hatch. The previous gen was pretty ugly but apparently, some loved the overstyled ricer design.
Cleaner than the 3 sedan?
I honestly think the opposite!
Don’t get me wrong, the new Civic looks nice but I much prefer the 3 sedan‘s elegant design!
Especially in *Soul Red Crystal Metallic* 🤩
I agree, the previous gen of the Civic is ugly, especially the Type-R model…
Mazda 3 FTW. It's a much better car all around.
Love the mazda3 hatch
If you live in EU the civic has big quality issues. Most likely it is not.build in Japan, and the place it is assembled has QC issues.
Hey Bembli, what do you think about the new Mazda 3 Sport tail lights for 2022? Do you think the crosshair design suits the car better than the 4 diodes?
You have to be joking??? I find it very difficult to differentiate between a Honda, Toyota, Hyundai or a Kia. They are all boxy and look very similiar. Nissan and Mitsubishi dont do a sedan anymore and we dont make anything in Australia anymore so if you want something mid price premium with flowing lines you have to go Mazda, Suzuki or Subaru . Mazda is now a premium brand and they have retained a sense of flow rather than the sharp ugly lines that are prevalent in most modern vehicles (yes EVs are the worse offenders). The alternative is to go to high price luxury cars (Audi, Mercedes, Jaguar or BMW). The most bizarre thing is the brand now that has the most beautiful flowing lines is Tesla and they are Electric Vehicles. You should also note that the body shape: rear, profile and especially the front are completely different between the Mazda 3 Sedan and Hatch. I personally hate Hatches. they look like a wedge of Cheese to me!
I liked the previous gen civic. I always think civic should be childish and young while accord be the elegant one
Do a Nio ET5 design review?
Which specific models of the Civic, besides the "R" & "SI", are available with a manual transmission?
The Civic has a CVT, the Mazda doesn't. Mazda 3 all the way.
Call the Civic interior dated all you want, but I really like how Honda put ergonomics back in the Civic interior. The only compact interiors I wouldn't enjoy is the Golf and likely the future Impreza redesign since that may have a touchscreen-everything-including-climate-controls, and I think climate controls should be all hard buttons, not in a touchscreen and not under a capacitive panel.
I agree, climate controls really need to have their own dedicated buttons. Owning a Mazda 3, I now support a dial to navigate the menu as supposed to touch screen because 1. I dont' have to lift my arm which is more distracting when driving 2. I can maneuver through the menu by just memorizing clicks and the notches on the dial 3. No fingerprints on the screen. I absolutely love the dial.
@@cool7654321 Same. I sometimes get clammy hands while driving and using a touchscreen is a pain. scroll wheel all day.
If you want a car that looks like a gaming computer, get the Civic. If you want a car that looks like a piece of art, get the Mazda.
Have owned Civics since 2000. Had my 2018 Civic EX stolen. Went with a new 2022 Mazda 3 Hatchback Premium and absolutely love it…..Drive train and A/C work much better than the Civic….Plus Civics are the #1 stolen car in the USA right now…Especially in SoCal..

Mazda subscribes the Mercedes Benz notion of alien organic luxury design.
Honda subscribes to the BMW style of sporty robot Gundam mecha luxury innovation.
Was definitely expecting you to go with Mazda based on design, the interior for the civic is nice but that Center screen sticks out so much
The Honda is all around okay except for the awful touch screen that looks like they just super glued it on the dash. And the Honda has a CVT if you need an auto, where Mazda has the traditional 6 speed auto built in house. And if you get any turbo motor, I believe you have to run premium grade gas, or at least it is recommended to do so. I am near Chattanooga, TN and Premium is anywhere from $.40 per gallon more at Costco, to $1.00 per gallon more at the BP station.
Omg I love new Honda Civic hatch design both front and rear but Mazda 3 hatch design is legendary 🖤
I would go for the hatchback version of the Mazda 3 👌🏻
Honda makes very good cars, no doubt! But we drive Mazda cars (Cx-5, CX-8) because we don't like the design language of Honda. There are too much fake elements. I also prefer the driving experience of the Mazda. I recently could compare our CX-5 with the Honda CR-V.
But Honda starts to improve its design language. I just could see a new HR-V in person and it looks dam good.
I think it would be interesting to see you disect some motorbikes and see what you'd like to be redesigned.
Not the conclusion I was expecting. I'm actually currently cross shopping these. Personally I think the Mazda 3 has the better overall design in both sedan and hatchback form. It really is a standout design in this market segment that punches above it's weight class. The new Civic is definitely much improved over the previous generation design wise, which was just too busy from a design perspective. But it's still more function over form in it's design. And to it's credit may be the reason I think it might be the better overall vehicle. The Mazda looks great, the Civic looks very good. But the Civic is a much more practical vehicle, and Honda did amazing job packaging the vehicle.
I think it would be interesting to do a Civic Si vs new Integra comparison. If I'm honest, I kinda like the Civic Si more from what I've seen so far. It makes me wish for an Si Touring.
@@Schmuney I really haven't been in the 11th Gen Civic but my understanding is it's still the same platform as the 10th Gen. But it has been overall more refined and I would say it definitely at least appears more refined.
I'm very familiar with the 10th Gen Civic as a work vehicle and I'm currently leasing the Mazda 3. So I can tell you from first hand experience the Civic is the more practical vehicle. The Mazda is the more refined vehicle.
The Civic is much more roomie both front and back, it feels almost like a midsize; where the Mazda is definitely a compact car, front is fine but back is acceptable but by no means roomy. Trunks are similar although still a slight edge for the Civic. Both cars are within 6 hp (180 vs 186 in mass market mid trims) of each other and the Civic is actually feels punchier although will pull up the rev range more. But one clear advantage is the Civic gets MUCH better mpg, that's actually an area where Honda has an obvious very noticeable advantage (I could confidently say a Civic would probably average a good 5-10 mpg higher than a 3 in most situations the Civic sips gas on highways, it exceeds EPA sticker where Mazda barely meets it). I think both cars drive great for what they are. Neither is a sports car but they have sportiness to them, although I personally like the way the Mazda drives overall from an everyday factor because it can be both compact sporty but also everyday commute refined in a way the Civic doesn't match on the everyday factor.
Again I'm comparing my experience with the current Mazda and the last Gen Civic but my understanding is the new Civic is basically a remodeled 10th gen for the most part that has been refined.
So I'm pretty confident in saying the Mazda seems designed to appeal to the primary driver/owner. The interior is driver centric, it drives more refined, it feels more mature in some ways. But the Civic is designed as the better family/passenger vehicle. The Civic much more roomier, much more fuel efficient and still can be just as sporty as the Mazda when asked (some would say it actually edges out the Mazda although I kinda feel it's a wash honestly).
It really becomes kinda a personal choice because each car has it's pros and cons. But the Civic is definitely the more overall practical car, it's the sensible car choice.
I think the Mazda is a good enough car from a practicality standpoint but it's advantage is it tugs at the heart strings more, it feels more upscale and drives that way too. I think it looks better too. It's an intangible type vehicle.
I agree!
I prefer the 3 Sedan as well!
Especially in *Soul Red Crystal Metallic* 🤩
Stop lyin to yourself bembli...Honda's designer have become lazy...the new civic looks like a shrunken accord with an audi A3 tail end...
By exterior and interior design i prefer the Mazda 3, but in terms of practicality, the Honda Civic it's a better option with more leg space in the back and better fuel economy.
If only Mazda would have kept making the 6ix! It would have all bases covered.
The engine bay of the civic looks like an after thought
i continuously was getting the feel of volkswagan from Bonut and front bumber of civic..
if not mistaken the Mazda 3 was initially designed as a liftback first, then only evolved into the sedan thus why this generation's liftback looks amazing, and it also evolved from the Mazda Kai concept
Civic front looks so much better than the previous generation but the rear lights really are too huge
Mazda 3 is a better looking car.
You and people like you pollute a fine platform for video, exchanging ideas, chat and a safe environment for all.
Owning a BMW, I would without a doubt buy the Mazda 3. It to me is the BMW of the non-luxury brands. Heck I may even upgrade my BMW to the new Mazda 6 as it’s looking like everything I want in a car.
Lel here we call Mazda the BMW of Hiroshima🤣
im gonna disagree with probably 98% of the comments and say that i would pick the civic because i always thought that it looked good and everything looked very clean but the mazda3 looks like every other mazda with the only difference being the shape. i haven't been the biggest fan of the newer mazda design.
The Civic looks like a car. The Mazda 3 is a functional sculpture, a work or art.
If I was going for functionality I'd get the Civic, but I'm not so the Mazda wins for me. I've owned both, but have been true to Mazda since the 2nd generation Protégé.
I had a 1999 Protege that I drove to 310K miles !!! lol ( car did not die : I actually sold it)
I want to love the new CIVIC, but the styling of the Mazda's is just masterful, while the Civic just looks clunky from stem to mis picked lip spoiler. I'd have to remove it and get a diffent lip spoiler on the trunk if it were me, and black wheels I think add to the akward of the Si. Touring's machined silver wheel spokes look way better.
The lip spoiler on the Civic Sport is the one I'd want on the Si
When it comes to hatchbacks Mazda understood the assignment and payed homage to the clean design of Honda's EK civic hatch. The new Honda Hatch is a better looking design over the 10th but it still looks like it's too boring like a 1985 civic wagon.
To me Mazda sedan looks classier however as I've heard and red numerous times, the interior is tight.

Why do you prefer the hatchback Mazda3 instead of the sedan?
Speaking for myself? It’s just a bold design which prioritizes aesthetics over function. Would I have purchased a car with such enormous blind spots and narrow windows if it didn’t include blind spot monitoring? Nope! But I love the curvaceous lines, the way light plays across the sculpted sides and how the the bodywork flares out slightly at the rear. There’s nothing generic about the design. It stands out from the current prevailing fashion of origami creases and angles.
The Mazda 3 is a better looking car inside and out.
@Jason King 🙄
The Mazda 3 sedan is one of the best looking sedan cars of this generation!
Especially in that sexy red color “Soul Red Crystal Metallic“ exclusive to Mazda models! 😍
Would be glad to see an analysis between Honda Civic hatchback and Tesla model 3, as their proportions seem to have a lot in common. Thanks for your videos. Very interesting always.
extra large exhaust on your new civic? Very noisy. Sounding like it needs to be fixed fast. Extra low suspension?
I think the previous civic was an ode to the mod community, while this model is an ode to the essence of the traditional functional civic.
It's why I love... Choices! For me, the Sedan is by far the better looking of both the Mazda Hatch and Civic. I must say, it's awesome that Honda got the design, both inside and out. Dead on. Certainly compared to the last iteration. Ugh! Too much plastic cladding, on all the models! Anyhoo, nice vid. I still think the Mazda has a.... smoother look to it. (Sedan, not hatchback)
Nice presentation. I have enjoyed your videos over the years. However, I have a major complaint about Car Designers. Since I once had one as a friend, I can speak on the subject. My complaint is that Car Designers are now designing Cars to please other designers, rather than Car buying customers. And the obvious reason this is happening is because in the past, Car Designers were few, so they were focused on pleasing the Car buying public. But unfortunately, when any industry grows, and more people are added, a culture develops within it. The same goes with the Car Designer industry, it has a lot more people now than in the past, so it has developed its own culture. The end result is that Car Designers find it more important to please other Car designers taste than that of Car buyers, short-changing both the public, and manufacturer at the same time.
This Honda Civic you like so much is an example. You had a lot of issues with the previous model, because it had all manner of lines on it that didn’t connect. Well, I have news for you; people like to see lines on Cars, which so happen to make the previous Civic simply fantastic to look at. From the moment the previous model was launched, it was like an explosion, because the Car was suddenly everywhere, parading its stunning side view. With this new model, everything that was exciting about the previous model was made BORING. And I am not alone in this because I barely ever see this new model on the road. This is a sign that this new Civic model is probably not really selling that well.
Concerning these graphic lines you mention all the time, you will notice that classic Cars had much stronger lines. That’s because the Car Designers of the past were trying their best to catch & hold the attention of the Buying public. But now you will find what I call shy-lines on Cars, which are semi-visible lines that only appear when the Sun is low (Morning or Evening). Since only Car Designers know those lines are there, then it is as if they don’t exist at all. As a result, the Car only looks its best about a combined 4 hours of a 24-hours day. This is really cheating the consumer out of satisfaction, and the Car-makers out of business. Let’s take the new Lexus IS for instance, which I have seen many times before. However, one morning I noticed two gorgeous lines over the hood. But I knew once the Sun rose to high noon, those lines would disappear. So for that brief moment in time, that Lexus looked its most beautiful, when it is supposed to look its best at all times.
Such practices by Car Designers are wrong, and need to be addressed by Car-makers. If a line is on the Car, it should be visible at all times. If the executives, or CEO’s of this Car companies knew what their designers were doing, they would put a stop to such Car Design culture.
The previous gen of the Civic had too much going on design-wise.
Especially the Type-R model!
So overstyled and ugly…
@@Kev27RS I noticed Car designers didn't like the previous generation of the Honda Civic, but like this new generation.
However, the opposite is true with the customers (those who actually matter). They prefer the previous generation to the new one. That's why the old model was a hit from the very start, and the new model is a flop.
What this Civic fiasco means is that Car Designer are creating designs to please other designers, rather than pleasing the paying customers. This is extraordinarily bad for business.
@@richardike2342 There are a lot of people who dislike the previous gen and praise the new Civic for its more “mature“ design.
Even the Type-R!
It looks a lot cleaner now, just the way it should be!
The previous Civic Type-R was an overstyled mess.
Grills, vents and lines all over the place…
Plus, the new Civic including the Type-R model, just came out!
So you can’t say that it is a flop…
@@Kev27RS As l already said, Car Designers prefer the new Honda Civic, but customers preferred the previous model Civic.
There are so many Car Designers now, that they have formed their own culture. As a result, they are designing cars to please each other, not paying customers.
My neighbor just bought the previous model Civic Coupe. We both agreed it was beautiful. She said the dealers offered her the new model, but she thought it was ugly. This is a point of which I agreed with her.
Besides, l hardly see the new model on the street. Compared to the previous model, the moment that one launched, it was like a grenade exploded, because it was suddenly everywhere.
The only thing good about the new Civic is the front view. The rest of it is dead boring. Even the interior is unbelievably dull as heck.
If Car Designers don't start focusing on re-capturing customer attention again, then A.l. design technology might start replacing them.
i have a 2021 Mazda3 Turbo PP sedan that i bought summer and i love that car maybe, a few things i don't like but it's more nitpicking if i really had to point out negatives about the car. one of the main reasons i chose Mazda instead of it's competitors was the transmission option... NO CVT!! glad Mazda is one of the very few car companies that still offer regular auto transmission
I prefer both hatchbacks over the sedans
Mazda 3 turbo has *250hp if you use premium, *227hp for regular gas, love my turbo hatch
I like the Honda Civic, which I think is arguably better than the previous gen. The fastback looks sporty, while front fascia and its rear designs are simple and neat. The legroom is bigger. The body contours are smooth.
I think they both look great. I prefer the 6spd auto over the CVT.
@TheTpanative I will research it, this is news to me. Thanks
@TheTpanative I looked it up - the bearing you refer to is actually part of the trans case. From what I gather, the failure rate is low but the solution is entire tranny replacement. I guess every car has an a Achilles!
@TheTpanative I understand losing confidence in a product, especially considering its purchase price. I wouldn't want the car either because I am particular as to how things are re-assembled (having wrenched on cars my entire life) & don't trust dealer technicians. Best of luck on your next purchase!
@TheTpanative Research Subaru's Lineartronic CVT failures prior to purchase. They have, what I'd consider, an abysmal track record. I personally would not buy a Subaru unless it has a manual transmission (BRZ, WRX).
Mazda
Mazda 3 hatchback reminds me of Alfa Romeo Brera. Gorgeous car.
mazda 3 looks way better than the new civic... just imo
Civic for the sedan.
Mazda 3 for the hatchback.
Agreed 💯 %
