Quintessential Commander is a Singapore based Magic the Gathering EDH Commander gameplay series where we just want to have fun playing MTG together, joking and laughing around. We aim to produce high-quality, entertaining and fast-paced gameplay videos that will make you LOL.
We're playing with some of the new precons and new legends from March of the Machine (MOM), the latest Magic the Gathering set! It's filled with phyrexians and heroes, and the commanders we're playing today are Gimbal, Gremlin Prodigy, Sidar Jabari of Zhalfir, Yargle and Multani, and Etali, Primal Conqueror.
We've got knights, artifacts, a flickering dinosaur and literally the MOST POWERFUL commander from March of the Machine!

This was the first Quintessential MTG video that i ever watched and boy, you guys got me hooked (especially after that 1 hit K.O. on Matt and his Etali deck LMAO😂)

I have never seen Matthew that excited to explode his veggies and his board
Recently new to the channel. Great video! Just one note…when Paul cast Nameless Inversion targeting Syr Konrad Gabriel could have activated Syr Konrad in response (possibly 2 or 3 times based on the lands/colors he had available). If one creature hit the graveyard Paul would have died and Nameless Inversion would fall off of the stack.
The animation quality has improved so much! Great video guys! Also, GG Matt LMAO

I was so happy to see a video with Matt in it again, and then you do this!
Yargle and Multani are surprisingly silly for a vanilla 18/6 creature. I put a ''Yargltani'' deck together and in the first game got to about 8 mana (Sol Ring, Arcane Signet) on T5 with Selvala Heart of the Wilds and Shadowheart Dark Justicar out and than it got CRAZY:
- Cast Yargltani, got a draw trigger from Selvala
- Paid the 1 forest, tapped Selvala for 18 mana
- Cast Return of the Wildspeaker drew 18 cards
- Cast Undying Evil on Yargltani
- Cast Ruthless Technomancer sacrificed Yargltani for 18 Treasures, undying triggers Yargltani comes back as 19/6, triggers Selvala draw a card
- Cast Eternal Witness returns Return of the Wildspeaker
- Cast Return of the Wildspeaker draw another 18 cards
- Cast Essence Harvest drained opponent for 19 life
- Cast Supernatural Evil on Ruthless Technomancer 4/4, sacrifices to Shadowheart, draw 4 cards return Ruthless Technomancer sacrifices Yargltani for another 19 Treasures
- Proceeded to use the rest of the mana to cast a phat Exsanguinate for 29 and finished the game off
LOL My opponents and I were flabbergasted at how it all played out, probably not going to see that happen again anytime soon...
The addition of Green to Yargle is HUGE :P

Sidar is actually not a name, but a title like “king” or “general”. There is another EDH commander named Sidar: Sidar Kondo of Jamuraa. Being the Selesnya partner commander from the original run he is quite popular. My point the title should be “… Jabari vs …”Sorry for the nitpicking, but it was really bothering me for whatever reason.

To be fair to Matthew, he did say at the start he was very sleepy so he probably wasn't in the best get up and go for this episode. He'll be back with this deck no doubt!

Don't tone down the upgrade budget! So many channels do 30 - 50 dollar upgrades, not a lot do a decent budget - some of us do infact like to spend our money frivolously on this cardboard crack. Could always do the lower budget option as a primer on deck lists? Best of both worlds 🤠

Sidar is a beastly deck. Love it.
I've played against that Etali deck a few times before and it is a real menace. You get to 7 mana and win the game. You need to kill that player as soon as possible.

Okay, Paul made the right play for Yargle-tani, but really disappointed that Matt was out so fast after such a long absence. (Poor Matt was sleepy too apparently.) Was totally caught by the mid-video exit title card fake out though! 😆

with sidar can't you only discard and draw one per combat? the card reads "Whenever you attack with one or more Knights, if Sidar Jabari of Zhalfir is in the command zone or on the battlefield, draw a card, then discard a card." wouldnt that mean youd just discard and draw one after declaring attackers?
