Man, so glad I held out. Almost bought one of these during the black friday sales but knew you had a review coming up. Saved me from a regrettable purchase. Thank you
Dude your videos are a god send. Very informative I’ve been looking for new power accessories and your channel is exactly what I was looking for when it comes to actually testing the products
@@AllThingsOnePlaceI mean if the 260w does what it says it does and output 140w even if all the ports are getting used it could arguably be the best high end charger on the market in my opinion
The fake power limits shed a light on a weird issue I have been having with my 200x. When my iPad is charging at ~40w and I plug in an empty 737 the 737 will charge at 140, and ipad will drop to 20. When I unplug the 737 or it finishes charging the ipad never goes back up beyond 20 unless I plug/replug it. Firmware update did not affect this. (Wattage figures are as reported by the 200x). This is feeling a bit like ProjectFarm now, where I watch to see how bad the stuff I alreday bought is 😂
ProjectFarm is amazing. I'm not at that level. This is a part time hobby. Yes, I would expect a firmware update to not change the charging characteristics of the device. I tore it down and the microcontroller adjusts the screen and fan speed but the USB protocol chips are hard baked in so you can't really do much with them besides flip a few switches that decide how to limit power, and that's only if those are wired. I can see the sections having issues with overheating.

Yeah, I guess have to cover stuff that isn’t great as well as the good stuff for some contrast. This shows that there are really gaps in the market at least.
So glad I found this video, I’ve been looking for a replacement for a very old usb charger I have (almost everything is usb c now) and almost pulled the plug on this since I saw them in a Xmas shopping list video. Thank you very much and good job.
Was looking into these as I'm really content with their sony camera battery charger, but whoa these are underwhelming. BUT I want to note, that the app's function is beyond turning the beeping on and off, because the chargers get Firmware updates through it. My battery charger got at least 2 since may, so these maybe get as well. Of course fw cant mitigate all these issues, but some might. Also dont know which app have you seen in app store, but both ios and android versions of ISD Link are updated around monthly.
Yeah, I tore it down, the firmware can't do anything with the power supply, it also can't do anything with the USB protocol chips. It can change the display and the fan speed. Yeah, I guess I got linked to an old abandoned app version.
Any luck that you ordered the AOHI powerbank/charger on kickstarter? Really lookin forward to it, especially with the "powerbank bypass" feature to only use it as charger
No. I'm not getting anything on kickstarter for the channel anytime soon. I learned that lesson from LTT years ago. After everyone else decides it is the best thing since sliced bread, then I come along and get no views. hahaha Also, most of the AOHi stuff I've looked at has been bad so that lowers the priority on the stack.
My quest for a charger with an accurate, functional display continues. Honestly, I'd even eat the idle power penalty if at least the display was accurate, and it met the rated wattage. Speaking of which, sheesh. Oh well, maybe next year. On the bright side, at least you won't run out of content any time soon ;)
Hi. I wonder if you could test the Lenovo 140W GaN charger which can generate 20V 6.75A on the port, which I wonder if it actually works or if it reaches 140W only in the case of 28V and 5A. And if you had the opportunity to get your hands on a Green cell charger (PowerGaN 65W) and test it out of pure curiosity. I know this may be a problem because it is a product with an EU plug, so only if you have the opportunity.
@@AllThingsOnePlace These Lenovo chargers are available on Aliexpress for now only with a US plug. There are two variants, one is 135W and the other is 140W.
Have you considered looking at the PinePower 65W and 140W chargers? They have an excellent price for the specs. The 65W is likely a reskin of something else, but I like to think the 140W is an original design.
@@AllThingsOnePlace I got the desktop one. I'm mostly curious as to how accurate the measurements are, since I use it at work as a rough estimate of how much power the devices I work on pull rather than having a separate USB multimeter on each output.
It won't help the efficiency of the power supply or the idle power, those are hard wired functions. It could help the fan speed or the display be more accurate I guess. I'm not going to find out. The USB protocol chips are usually hard coded devices too, so I don't see that there would be any improvements there either.
@@AllThingsOnePlace yeah I think the fan after that update only kicks in when needed and runs on lower speed so less noise. I’m not electrician but is the idle power efficiency poor due to the display being ON all the time and the fan running?
@@XL_BEAR The display no, since that's always on and shouldn't really be using much at all. The fan does use a little bit of power for sure, not sure how much. It could be explored more.
So, if you dig deeper into products, you tend to find something off in each. So, my current daily driver is a 165W Satechi 4 port charger. It's not bad, if you are on 120V AC or lower. It is more efficient at 230, and still safe but it leaks so you will get the tingling feeling from items while using them. It has high idle power consumption but it makes up for that with it's very high efficiency. It also does do the renegotiation dance. I am still looking for a good higher wattage device that handles power distribution smarter.
@@AllThingsOnePlace thank you for the feedback...all this stuff is so new to me..and just want something reliable and works without any added fuss..lol
I've seen non-technical RUclipsr sponsor these devices without even trying to figure out how good they really are. Didn't even mention the app not being updated in four years. Thanks for the service, as interesting as always. Can't wait to see the Nitecore review since I was one viewer that suggested you to check them out. Get ready to see how toasty the Nitecore 10K gets. Mine can't really get a full charge to my 17.4Wh phone's battery without a break from 15% to around 85% and the inductors scream a tad. But I also think it's due to my phone's charging curve being wonky and not negotiating correctly the 12V mode it's capable of. Though the efficiency is pretty great, around 78% from my rough math.
I took one apart. There are some interesting technical failures inside. Like a plastic sheet between the primary power supply and a metal plate, that has no blades, so the fan is ineffective at getting the heat out... The plastic getting melty was the smell probably. The power supply is completely independent though so, it's a 200W 24V power supply with PFC, actually looks okay if you can get decent forced air over it, it's made like a slim power supply for some reason, I'm going to test it independently and see how it is as a power supply. Looks like it even has provisions for earthing. Then just chuck the USB part in the parts bin. Maybe can salvage one of those protocol chips? Thanks for the starter on the Nitecore, starting to work on that now. I need to get a better habit of getting these videos started.. a lot of hours of testing to do this week.
@@AllThingsOnePlace Well that was A LOT to take in and would've probably made the video 30 minutes long. Geez that's a long list of small "misses" that add up. The plastic between the primary and the heat spreader really sounds like poor QC or no QC at all. Like they get the sheets from another factory with plastic to protect them and don't care to remove it. Considering how nice the PFC is in that 24V PSU is truly worth testing it out indipendently. Also this hodgepodge way of making a charging station might explain how they tried to achieve the non renegotiation on plug and unplug. Your reviews are very details so I get why it's hard to get started on the video. You're welcome about the Nitecore starter! I have the Gen. 1 10K so if you need me to get some rough numbers I'll be glad to help.
First 😂 have you considered reviewing the goal zero Sherpa PD? It's supposed to be durable and of quality, but you've taught me manufacturers claim is... just that
@@AllThingsOnePlace hey man I tried to post a comment on the IKEA video about the 40W charger but RUclips doesnt show it up. There is a general recall of that charger.
Yikes. Sounds like some kind of janky cooling solution to compensate for those poor efficiency numbers. It's easy to forget that 85% efficiency means it has to dissipate 50% more heat than a 90% efficient design, so even a few percent is a big difference. I wouldn't trust that thing to last, and without a safety listing, who knows if it wouldn't go up in smoke when it does fail.

I'd expect the money (owners) to step in and say no at some point to power stations, no idea how much they spent on that development process and how much it actually makes versus the core business though. It would be interesting to do some more digging on this. I'd rather see a push for sustainable, replaceable disposable batteries. Actual recycling programs... or good/safe 18650's in stores. We don't need another power station or another power bank but a good battery manufacturer is certainly welcome.

Pick your battles so that overall tone of the video is not so depressing. I only wrote this cause i see huge potential on this channel with a few tweaks Regards
Yeah, unfortunately, most people do a bad job. This ISDT is a bad product and there are so many bad products out there that overwhelmingly the channel has a lot of negative reviews, I cover these products almost entirely based on suggestions so if it's junk I'm gonna tell you. I should make a playlist of good things. It's gonna be a short playlist. There have been some more positive reviews on my channel but the point is to explain what others fail at. Often that means covering things that aren't often talked about and perception of negativity comes with being more thorough. Most reviews are reading the MFG spec sheet and then selling that product, yes, they are light and fluffy but also wholly inaccurate and incomplete.
@@AllThingsOnePlace well I wanted to express why your channel is not growing more (in one video you mentioned your channel was not growing as you wanted) and is just your depressing tone..it feels like Eeyore decided to become a RUclipsr lol I hope you think about what I said at least. I’ve had one for almost a year now and it’s been great! Yea sure, it’s not the world’s most efficient, but it’s a good value (at least when I got mine) and has been reliable and handy. And I don’t know why you thought the app doesn’t get updates, because I checked and it got 21 updates this year lol. I’m definitely not saying it’s perfect because it’s clearly not, but it’s not bad for most people.
Yeah, it is an interesting concept and they did put a lot of pieces in a relatively small box. I looked on iOS it said last update 4 years ago. I didn't try downloading it when I saw that. It could be the wrong version of the app. I did tear this down and the construction looks great on first glance, but when you dig in you find things like the main power supply isn't actually connected to the heatsink where the fan is but I still expect longer life with the fan always moving air over the components at least.
@@AllThingsOnePlaceyea you probably saw a different app, but I don’t blame you because for some weird reason isdt has quite a few apps. That definitely isn’t a good sign that the heatsink isn’t properly attached. I appreciate you doing the thorough testing you do.

@@AllThingsOnePlace If it was for me, I'd totally enjoy the irony and sarcasm in your videos. OTOH that means we'd never see really good devices which is of course not very desireable.
Thank you for continued work , have you already / will you be testing the Lenovo 65 watt gan lipstick charger , xaomi 65 watt gan charger and chareasaps 100 watt charger?
Those are still on the list, and I haven't tested the Lenovo, I did the Xiaomi 65W charger sometime, or as part of a video a while ago. I haven't tested the Chareasaps either.
@@AllThingsOnePlace o been searching for the cosmo video and have not found it yet, or has it not been posted yet
LOL who needs an app for a charger, thanks for the review!
The future. I think we need an AI charger.
Man how disappointing... I remember commenting asking for this review a few weeks ago.
Off my amazon list for future purchases. On to attempting to find another station with a wireless cahrger on top and a few output ports on the front :/
Yeah, I'm not sure why this is still for sale really. It looks great on paper but it is not.
Pine64 has one that has been pretty excellent for me so far. I figured if they skimped on the quality the diy electronics people they sell to would be the sort to call it out.
If you want to grow a bigger audience you need to check your mood man. Is like all your videos are doom and gloom. I started pumped with your channel but after a few videos i had enough.
I don't want you to be like those channels where every product is great but you nitpick way too much and complain about everything everything everything! Boxes, lcd films, stand... Everything!
Pick your battles so that overall tone of the video is not so depressing.
I only wrote this cause i see huge potential on this channel with a few tweaks
Regards
@@AllThingsOnePlace well I wanted to express why your channel is not growing more (in one video you mentioned your channel was not growing as you wanted) and is just your depressing tone..it feels like Eeyore decided to become a RUclipsr lol
I hope you think about what I said at least. Good luck but sadly I wont be watching if the "tone and attitude" does not change.
In your opinion, which charger is better ? Belkin 65W charger or Shargeek 65w S065 charger ?
If I had to pick, I'd go with Belkin. The reason: the items from Shargeek I have tested have been fairly bad or not meeting claims, where-as the Belkin things I've tested at least did what they said they'd do.
@@AllThingsOnePlace Thank you. It's great to know your review of Shargeek. I will avoid this company from now on.
@@AllThingsOnePlace I think Anker 65w 735 A2668 will be better than Belkin 65w. Do you agree with this? Want to know your opinion. Thank you.
Can you tell me the name of the app you are using? There seem to be few of them that connect to this device.
@@AllThingsOnePlaceyea you probably saw a different app, but I don’t blame you because for some weird reason isdt has quite a few apps. That definitely isn’t a good sign that the heatsink isn’t properly attached. I appreciate you doing the thorough testing you do.
@@XL_BEARIt’s the “ISDT Link” app on the App Store. I just opened it and apparently the isdt power 200 can do updates over Bluetooth using the app, which is kind of neat.
Awesome videos! Thanks to your reviews, I finally got a 100w Baseus charger. Just wondering if you've heard the brand Essager? They are priced cheaper than Recoren, and have 33w, 65w, 100w, and 140w chargers.
I tested the 33W in the european adapter video. It was worst of the bunch in both performance and teardown metrics. They are cheap.
Can't wait to see the nitecore results & could you also test the Baseus 100w with the built in surge protector? Thanks ATOP!

I did look at one of the power combo units: ruclips.net/video/tzGwrsq-83U/видео.html I got it to protect the unit in the video. I'm sure the three plug version is essentially the same.
