Thanks again for the video, was in Buzzards Bay last week. Caught some Asian crabs and the Maureen Anne provided green crab for us. It was a blow out. Asian crabs out fished green crabs 8 to 1. Thanks Capt Kevin for helping us with this experiment.
Nice! 8-1 is stunning. Were you with Maureen Ann fishing charter?
@@GrimmFishing yes sir. Going on the Miss Kris next week. I’m going to try the same thing again.
nice day out there Grimm! those were some really nice-sized fish! I do like using Asian crab especially in shallower water, green crabs have a bit more scent I think so they are good at drawing fish out of their hiding spots but sometimes they just want a certain crab over another. white legger crabs I find are better for deeper water and in the colder months
I've never seen a white legger here, or maybe I am too new, however thanks for the info!
@@GrimmFishing the white legger also called rock or jonah crab, is not found inshore very often (maybe in winter only)
White crab is very common in Long Island area, same area with blue crab.
Where to catch Asian crabs ?
Asian crab is awesome!
Haha, hopefully you will get one or two tautog later
Ding had a theory that because most of our landed tautogs were female, so we guess that because of using a whole live asian crab, they might felt their nest or eggs were under threat by the crabs, so they became aggressive and bite. This is just our guess for the unreal action we had, leave a comment below if you think there is another theory/answer for this!!
Makes sense but they always work for me any time . Nobody uses shrimp over there in the spring time ?
@@TheSjh196 Nobody I know of tho
Not really, spring time tog are mostly female, it’s their spawning time.
Asian crabs are just always better
Lots in the canal rocks
Nothing like free bait
@@staytight6340 funny story, I met a guy missed a blitz because he was flipping rocks for Asian crab
Bites seem to be a lot better in RI. There is not alot tautog this spring in NY. (maybe just my area) The season started 4/1-4/30 and I only have 3 keepers.
Yea, it seems early spring they turn to be at upstream for spawning, you can check Peter's channel ruclips.net/channel/UC-lFFkRu7t4OekgfCoGx7bw he fishes around NY
Hi,where did you launch the boat?thx
新人求带,柯基很可爱,我也有一只
Hint, put the rocks back the same way and lose the mask! You're by yourself
How did you keep the crabs alive for 3 days? Any tips/advice?
Iam not sure others, but mine seems fine in a refrigerator with a salt water wet paper tower covered + some seaweed
Where do you go to get Asian crab?
Nutisland near Quincy
Where did you get asian crab? Can you share the place?
oh man, far away, south Boston, NutIsland
Oh...too far
@@maykim6455 under Rocky flat areas near a shore line. Just turn over rocks during low tide.
Deeznutsville, nj
Whats the size of that boat ?
its only a 18ft bayboat
I think the mask helped.
😂我说island 的螃蟹怎么没有了原来被你扫光了
这锅不背,我大概抓了30只而已
where are you fishing in ri?
Tiverton bridge
@@GrimmFishing Try not to give locations to an already popular spot. there are already more than enough boats and shore guys that go there.
Last weekend, lots of big tautog. I fished on shore with green crabs, and caught 5 fishes, 4 of them are keepers. You can’t simply say Asian crab is better than green crab
That's the value of this 18mins video trying to demonstrate, with all the conditions in the experiment, including me and my buddy using different bait on a 18ft small boat. Maybe you are correct, definitely, there is always a probability that the result occurred by chance.
Take the mask off
You guys dont get bothered anchoring in the channel like that?
Yea, as long as not too close to the shore fishermen, we are fine, they ain't too many boat traffic in the middle of channel especially weekdays in the spring
I live right down the road from there. Great spot. Never know if you are going to get your anchor back.
@@DMD81773 You should try the Folding anchor, tie with 20-30lb mono through the eye at the back of the anchor with the chain, so once you got stuck really hard, give some force, it will break the mono, and you should be free
