    Great vlog. Don't worry about "moving up" to what amounts to usually a worse game. It sounds like Capital Casino 1/3 is a very good game. Once you move to 2/5 or higher, you will lose the bottom 70%-80% of the 1/3 player pool (in terms of skill), and the game will get much tighter in terms of ranges. While it is more predicable, the big errors that 1/3 players make (not maximizing value with good made hands, over folding to three-bets, and paying off with crapy 3rd and 4th pairs), will happen at a much lower frequency. Hope you have a great new year and run well in any game you play!

      I agree 100%, games get tougher as you move up. Lots of low hanging fruit in the 1-3 pool. I will be selective in the larger games I play.

    You are the only vlogger I consistently watch, concise and a table view of the other players which lets me make my own reads on their motions, thank you. Question: I have to be very picky about what days I frequent the tables and often select for the busiest times, however I notice that ~40% of your net profit is from Sundays. That strikes me as statistically significant. Then paired with your worst day of the week being Saturday. Thoughts? More pros on weekend and softer on weekdays? Anything..

    9:28 AK - When you fail to bet the monotone flop, is it likely you have improved ott? I think b/x or x/x is better.
    Good results for 2022! Well done. As far as 17bb/hr not being realistic, your game plays more like 2/5 (with the normal raise size being around $15 and stack sizes near $500), which makes your results more like 10bb/hr, easily realistic in live poker. If raise sizes were closer to the "normal" 3bb, 17bb/hr would be less likely but still possible.

    Questions; apparently you played ~500hr/yr, what are your thoughts on playing more? Do you have time constraints?
    I've played/ kept stats for 15+ years and never had greater than 65% winrate. Yours is impressive, any suggestions for players trying to improve that? Do you have a guess on your live VPIP? (I know this is a broad question).
    Looking forward to another great year of your vlogs/ keep er rolling!

      I did miss the first 6 weeks of the year. Vlogging takes up at least 8 hrs a week of my playing time. Sometimes more, but I love doing it. I have no desire to play 40 hrs a week like many pros do. I imagine I will be playing more this year and in some larger games. As for my 75% win rate, it is the same as last years rate. I don’t track my vpip, some games I play fast, others very snug.

    Do you ever feel dissatisfied winning when a lot of your opponents are bad or not on your skill level? Just asking since players at even 2/5 will not make as many mistakes as 1/3 players. At 1/3 sometimes opponents are so bad you can win without trying too hard, but your game doesn’t improve or grow. I don’t mean to discredit your play, just wondering if you think you can make more there or just looking for a different challenge

    • @dougmccuskerpoker
      @dougmccuskerpoker  Год назад

      I would be happy to play larger as long as the game is good with a number of games to choose from. The 1-3 game has 3-5 games daily at Capitol. The 2-5 normally has 1 game and starts Iater in the day. The other options in the area are not vlogger friendly. When I travel, my game of choice is 2-5. My goal is to play my best no matter the competition, many 2-5 regs play the 1-3 games because they are so good.

    you cant isolate players postflop, at that point it's an equity battle. Isolation is reserved for preflop play with the intent to fold out other players. Making players fold postflop is called bluffing. Raising top pair is a huge leak, you only make better hands call and worse hands fold, as demonstrated by the SB shipping on you and the other guy folding.

      Tice, you have some very good points and I appreciate you sharing your insight. My terminology may be off, his bet was so small that most players in my pool would take one off for that price. My hand is very vulnerable to over cards. I raised to eliminate the likely loose callers. If someone with a decent stack played back, it’s an easy fold. With a smaller number of players seeing the flop, flatting has more value.
