"KAMBANG LARAS" | THE STORY OF "BUNDENGAN" PRESERVER JAVANESE DUCK HERDER'S MELODY

Wonosobo's 199th anniversary, hopefully Wonosobo will remain beautiful with all its natural and cultural riches.
Bundengan, a traditional Central Javanese musical instrument from Wonosobo, has an interesting history. Starting from a duck herder's shelter tool to a unique musical instrument such as a set of gamelan which was popularized by the late. Barnawi. After his death, Bundengan art experienced a cultural crisis, for almost 3 years it had no successor.
Bundengan has its own story in its journey, starting from a bamboo that was made into "Kowangan" by one of the craftsmen, namely Joewan. Then the Kowangan was added with bamboo strings and drums by Maestro Bundengan, namely Munir (brother of the late Barnawi), together with Bohori (vocalist of the late Bohori), Munir still plays the Bundengan even when he is old, so that it doesn't become extinct.
On the other hand, a humanist and arts teacher, Mulyani, learned from the two Bundengan Maestros, who then preserved it for the people of Wonosobo, especially the youth, both on the national and international levels.
