About the movie:
Tootsie is a 1982 American comedy-drama film that tells the story of a talented but volatile actor whose reputation for being difficult forces him to adopt a new identity as a woman to land a job. The movie stars Dustin Hoffman, with a supporting cast that includes Jessica Lange, Teri Garr, Dabney Coleman, Charles Durning, Geena Davis, Bill Murray, Doris Belack and producer/director Sydney Pollack. Tootsie was adapted by Larry Gelbart, Barry Levinson (uncredited), Elaine May (uncredited) and Murray Schisgal from the story by Gelbart.
In 1998, the United States Library of Congress deemed the film "culturally significant" and selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry. The theme song to the film, "It Might Be You," which was sung by singer-songwriter Stephen Bishop, whose music was composed by Dave Grusin, and whose lyrics were written by Marilyn and Alan Bergman, was a Top 40 hit in the U.S., and also hit No. 1 on the U.S. adult contemporary chart.
Jessica Lange won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Julie Nichols. The movie earned a total of ten Academy Awards nominations and in 2000 the American Film Institute ranked Tootsie as the second funniest film of all time.

This was a song at my wedding in 1984. Everytime I hear it it reminds me of my husband. We were married 33 years and he died November 25th 2017. It was him all of my life and it will always be him all of my life. It is true! I love you Bert.

This song takes me back to when I was an idealistic young man. Now that I'm so much older, it's tough to hear.
That's the problem with having ideals....so many of them are flushed down the toilet it seems as we get older....it's as if ideals are just lies so much of the time.
I was born at 1995... My aunt told me once I have an old soul since I really love old songs like this. I don't care if I have an old soul, the soft romance vibe and a strong feelings that came from the old songs like this one can't be found in the new generation songs 😤

OH MY GOODNESS!!!! The nostalgia this song gives me. I love this song so much but it brings me so much sadness because it reminds me that times will never ever be like they used be back then.
The generation of people whom I grew up with were so different from the new generation that exists today. Life will never be same again. Those times are gone forever.
Other songs that give me this same feeling are "Think of Laura" by Christopher cross. "Do you know where You're going to" by Diana Ross. "We're all alone" by Rita Coolidge and "Just when I needed you most" by Randy Vanwarmer.

the ending of the movie, Tootsie, is perfect!
This song is so nostalgic to me, but it also makes me really sad. But in a beautiful sort of way. I had no idea that it had the same effect on so many people. I always tear up when I hear it. When they play it at the end of the movie, I get this very deep, lonely, sad feeling. I repeat, in a very touching sense however. It is probably hits me harder than any other song.

I've not been in love that much in my life. This song came out during the time that I had burned the bridges with the first girl I really fell in love with, c. 1983. It's a long story, and the bridges burned were because of my fears and inner demons. Nonetheless, I don't ever recall hearing this love song then, but as the years go by and I've heard this song, for some reason this song makes me actually think of the first girl I really fell in love with beyond the schoolboy crushes and the one that I messed up so badly.....that situation is still the biggest, if not only, regret of my life, despite the lessons learned. I still haven't found that special someone yet despite some girlfriends and dating. One wonders if time could or would ever give one a chance to make things right even though so much time has passed? Oh well...why do we have to fall in love with someone when we are often not ready to handle it properly? This song is really a tear-jerker for me.
