I wouldnt be surprised that they already have the backups ready to launch and knew this was going to happen all along and were cool with any legal trouble. Both the legal issues and presentations draw alot of attention
I realise money goes in to developing a fragrance so houses want to protect their product from dupes/clones. The issue is pricing. If they were a little less pretentious in the pricing then the clones would not be so necessary. Pretty much everyone knows that a vast amount of the money paid is for the name and not the scent. I absolutely refuse to pay £250 for something when I know I can get something else virtually identical for 1/10th of the price. Fashion houses need to climb down off their ivory towers sometimes. Sticking an exhorbitant price and your name on something doesn't make it great.

I buy those clones BECAUSE I can't afford Tom Ford's ridiculously overpriced private blend fragrances. Unless Tom Ford is somehow planning to have my income boosted, they aren't about to see an increase in purchases from me, anyway. I would imagine I'm not the only one in this position.

Remember that many perfumes, at least those inspired by scents from Africa, The Near East & Asia etc are often labeled as "fall/winter" perfumes by perfume youtubers from the west, even though the scent accords themselves are used all year around in hot climates in the countries in which they originated. It's all relative at the end of the day.

I find it a little odd as there are no laws preventing fake or copied goods in Saudi Arabia, which is not uncommon. These laws are not present in the UK as well, and therefor its legal to sell fake goods like Gucci bags etc. I cant take this serious as there are no sources presented and the fact that it comes from a guy who also said Bleu Electrique also was discontinued without any sources again, which was also wrong.

Correct. I have exactly two OG fragrances that I am slowly saving up to buy: Amouage Lilac Love and Montale Honey Aoud. Because I know of no clone/dupe. Otherwise, I never purchase these expensive fragrances because we live on a modest $55k’ish/year income. I’m not ever buying Tom Ford.

The Tom Ford clones make sense as there is an argument that they could be introducing some kind of market confusion. Unless there's some kind of overt corporate espionage going on where they have a truly identical product I don't see why formulations would be changed. "Our take on", "Inspired by", and "Compare to" type products aren't banned in other industries, and there's not much that makes these different those other than fragrances are a luxury product. They're basically just generic versions of a name-brand product. As long as there's no appearance of trying to confuse customers, and they're reproducing these scents via their own means (not illegally stealing formulae basically). I don't see any legal reason copy-cat products would be an issue.
I don't care what anyone says, I love the Clones and the Maison Alhambra ones are amazing. They last a long time (unlike the OGs) and IMO in many cases, smell better than the OG. But yeah, some of the Packaging did go a bit too far.
I didn't understand why Lattafa would copy the bottle, just copy the scent and put it in a clean nice looking bottle. It will still sell, that way Lattafa could have avoided such problems.
I think it might have been a move to make it more apparent to the broader public. Fragrance people know what they are cloning with something like Ana Abiyedh Rouge, but your more casual person probably does not. I think the TF alikes were probably very popular for them because everyone immediately knew what was going to be in the bottle.
This is inevitable. Then, there's the brand called fragrance world, the copying is even more obvious. As far as I know, the scent can't be copyrighted or trademarked because different ingredients can result to a similar scent, but the bottle and presentation (design) can, so, a heads up for clone brands.

Tom Ford realized these clones are better value than the stuff they're selling so they decided to take action. Just give people better fragrances tom ford :) I'm not buying a scent for 200+ dollars so it can last 2 hours on my skin and almost all of tom ford private blend fragrances don't last long.. or they used to last long and have been reformulated.
Hopefully, they'll be relaunched even stronger and longer lasting. To be honest, the bottles and packaging shouldn't matter as long as the product inside is the best that it can be...

Unless there's some kind of overt corporate espionage going on where they have a truly identical product I don't see why formulations would be changed.
"Our take on", "Inspired by", and "Compare to" type products aren't banned in other industries, and there's not much that makes these different those other than fragrances are a luxury product. They're basically just generic versions of a name-brand product.
As long as there's no appearance of trying to confuse customers, and they're reproducing these scents via their own means (not illegally stealing formulae basically). I don't see any legal reason copy-cat products would be an issue.
I don't care what anyone says, I love the Clones and the Maison Alhambra ones are amazing.
They last a long time (unlike the OGs) and IMO in many cases, smell better than the OG.
But yeah, some of the Packaging did go a bit too far.

Clones are like neighborhood drug dealers. You lock one up, and there's always a new hustler in line waiting his turn.
I didn't understand why Lattafa would copy the bottle, just copy the scent and put it in a clean nice looking bottle. It will still sell, that way Lattafa could have avoided such problems.
I think it might have been a move to make it more apparent to the broader public. Fragrance people know what they are cloning with something like Ana Abiyedh Rouge, but your more casual person probably does not. I think the TF alikes were probably very popular for them because everyone immediately knew what was going to be in the bottle.

This is inevitable. Then, there's the brand called fragrance world, the copying is even more obvious. As far as I know, the scent can't be copyrighted or trademarked because different ingredients can result to a similar scent, but the bottle and presentation (design) can, so, a heads up for clone brands.
I panic bought Khamrah and then got to the end of the video.... oh well!! Better safe than sorry.
Basically for lattafa the option is to launch a new fragrance with different bottle and name with same composition.
They just need to change the bottle design. You can’t get sued for scents.

They must have known at MA/Lattafa that the big players would froth and react... I wonder whether this wasn't an intentional "let's cash in, get established" move on MA's part...
If the formulations remain the same, it will be ok (and let's hope the bottles are not tacky). But if TF has gone all the way, it will set a precedent, as you said. I agree 100%.
Tom Ford realized these clones are better value than the stuff they're selling so they decided to take action. Just give people better fragrances tom ford :) I'm not buying a scent for 200+ dollars so it can last 2 hours on my skin and almost all of tom ford private blend fragrances don't last long.. or they used to last long and have been reformulated.

I think they will just change the presentation and not the formulation, because you cannot patent the "smell"
