This never happened prior to 1977. People stayed home whenever it snowed and the roads were empty. If someone was caught unaware by the snow, they crept along at 25 mph. Multi vehicle wrecks never happened. The problem began with the fake, government created, low cholesterol BS diet in 1977. Alot of people are sick from this diet, which, btw, was never scientifically tested, and ended up on Big Pharma meds. These people are driving around high on meds and all koo koo bird as a result.
One of the problems is that most drivers today do not slow down according to Road conditions, and are always in a hurry. any vehicle will Hydroplane at 30mph! just because they put a brine on the road to prevent icing does not mean you won't hydro and spin out. slow down people and live longer and prevent less road hazards. And the best part you might save a life YOURS!!!
This is crazy! People need to to really consider whether they need to be out driving or not. It should be essential workers only until this passes. Be safe out there everybody.
I got stuck on a small patch of snow once in Springfield, MA and my Honda accord tires kept spinning out. Before I could call for assistance a guy came from nowhere in a pick up and shoveled me out in 2 min. Nice folks up there in Mass
I think winter brings out the best in us - plow folks have a tough job with looong days like today. Our city & contract plows have ALWAYS come back to plow behind our cars! Cash, wine, cookies are always on hand when they come by! Let them have the roads and stay home - this was our first 'big' snow in a couple years, too.
I think a lot of it is that people are trying to drive on "all season" tires when they need winter tires. I moved from Phoenix to Maine, and learned this lesson with the very first snow. People try to save money and just get by with all-seasons. Can't do that with snow like this.
I live in Wisconsin. This snow wouldn't even phase me because I buy winter tires. I drive unplowed roads at 4am and it's way better than white knuckles with all season tires
LOL! A Phoenix driver, giving winter driving advice? 30 plus years of driving in ND winters, zero snow tires, just AT's and 4wd...no problems. Not trying to brag, you guys simply don't have the experience.
@@MikeYurbasovichI agree, but I think OP meant non-essential people don’t need to be out in a storm, especially in rush hour. I get it, worked at a hospital for years. You have to come in.
@alison5009 Indeed. I have a storm starting tonight that's possibly 12" of snow, and I have to drive rural highway 28 miles at 4am tomorrow. I will turn around if I have to, but that's never happened so far. As long as it's me and the road, I'm fine. It's other drivers that cause problems.
I was in Indiana this weekend and I knew it gona start snowing a 3am, this Saturday, so I stayed parked,, all this can be avoided by checking your local weather channel, or on your phone,
Thank you for people on the road. They keep the supply coming and repairing the broken pipeline so other lazy dogs could stay home and live in their pretend world that they think magically repair itself.
😂😂😂 so you are telling me that the wet stuff and white stuff that falls from the sky can cause hazardous driving conditions??? In my 45 years of driving I have never heard of such a thing…
Snow chains are illegal in all of New England. Vermont allows chains only on Route 9. Chains are seen throughout New England as destroying the road, that's why. Put on chains and your car will be impounded and you will be fined
@johnnymichael1804 I live in Wisconsin and you have no idea what you're talking about. I drive an Acura and will shit all over jeeps, subarus, and pickups with 4wd with my nokians. I can drive on glare ice without issue, too.
it absolutely amazes me that people don't get hydroplaning? We're New England drivers- we should know this. We've - been there, done that - and yet- we got people in such a hurry that they think the laws of physics don't apply to them. ???? That first guy, he was going waaay too fast and that far left lane was a river. If you don't 'feel' the road under you- then SLOW DOWN until your tires 'catch up'. - Drive safe everybody.
I clearly drive the perfect speed for slippery conditions. If I catch up to someone, I'm muttering "Stay home if you can't drive in snow, damn it! If someone comes around me, my first thought is "Yeah, keep it up . I'll see you in the ditch right down the road"
It's never a good sign when a truck driver must jack knife the trailer to save his own life. I pray for anyone on the roadways tonight. Was out earlier...very icy...please drive *slowly* & undistracted!
Just slow down or stay home. When there is ice on the road traction control and abs means nothing. Sometimes it makes it worse. A good set of tires that grip on ice makes all the difference
Actually Anthony, the changes from global warming will be "all over the place" -- both cold and hot. Stay tuned for "interesting times," all directly caused by the psycho / greed-based fossil fuel industry, which has hushed all this up since the 1970s.
I grew up in Massachusetts. Only when I left did I realize just how many Massachusetts (so-called) "drivers" are as UNSKILLED as they crazily AGGRESSIVE. SO GLAD to have left!
Weird how it's been 15 degrees above average in my neck of the woods, not to mention, many other locales around the country. you also must've forgotten, every news station and it's dog was talking about the warm temperatures, lack of snow, just a month ago...
Chains are illegal in New England. Put on chains and you will be heavily fined along with your car being impounded. The only road you can use chains is on Route 9 in Vermont. That's it.
Slow in the snow👍👍🥶🌨️🌨️🌨️🌨️
Driving too fast for conditions. Happens every winter and will never ever stop.
Good day from Ontario. U know walking is about 4mph, u can slip Way ti fast. Thanks

That work van on the on-ramp wasn’t even moving - driving too fast for conditions.
Stupid is as stupid does…..🤪🤪🤪

Any vehicle will hydroplane at 30? Wanna add some context or should I set the cruise at 25 from now on?
Best advice I've ever received was in a boater safety course: don't risk lives to save equipment!
This is crazy! People need to to really consider whether they need to be out driving or not. It should be essential workers only until this passes. Be safe out there everybody.
This isn't even a snowstorm😂

A lot of people also think that AWD is magic and having it means they can drive normally in snow and ice.
@@Sashazur Tires are more important than awd. We have motorcycle races on frozen lakes here. Tires are why we can do that.
Im a truck driver. I stay off the road in weather conditions like this. Too many dazed wackos driving around.
well, the 'dazed drivers' that cause the most wrecks would be doped up truck drivers, soooo.....
1st driver was crazyy
first impression is "that's New England, they should know how to drive in the snow".......then you realize, "oh, right, they're Massachusetts drivers"
We haven't had real snow in years, this was spring training driving.
A little caution but no one has that anymore
The first one or two storms weed out the fools that forgot snow and ice is slippery !
Thank goodness I always, always stay home during a winter storm. Stay off the roads.
Just get some winter tires. If you lived where I do, you'd lose your job.

it would happen fewer times if folks made sure they had good tires before winter arrived.

bad condition road or bad condition tires on the vehicle?@@nickhill8612

I work in a car service department. A lot of the cars have nearly bald tires. New tires are expensive but what’s your and others safety worth?

Wrong tires.wrong people behind the wheel.Wgat do you expect??.

I just find it comical that people just miraculously lose the ability to drive when it snows/rains/ices up. Never ceases to amaze me. 🤦🏻♂️
