But then you have to play with Grit and with Samy (if you are too slow in the Yellow Comet missions) in the final battle with Sturm, the worst possible partners for Andy
@@dertyp6833 I'd argue Drake is even worse than Sami, he doesn't have anything useful aside from the occasional 1 damage and his air units suck (A waste of an airport). Sami can press with mechs and threat Sturm's buildings, or build a gigantic square made of mechs which will attract 90% of his meteors, saving your other units.
@@prayingkabutops1392 Yeah but that's exactly why you mech spam, they are annoying enough to provide cheap and reliable support to Andy and are great decoys for Sturm's meteor and stronger units. Also Double time is the fastest co power in AW1 so she gets to use it quite a bit when moving to the frontlines. Aside from mechs, she only needs anti air to control Sturm's bombers, and they already have enough firepower to cripple them pretty well despite her weakness. Her air units may be weak aswell but they're stronger than drake's, not that she needs many anyway. Drake's co power takes much longer to charge and he doesn't have any advantages whatsoever, he's just a worse Andy sadly.
My dad's theme song. We used to play this together all the time, and he was GOOD. Took me years to learn his tactics and even then it was an evenly matched game.
He's still decent in 2, able to Oneshot Pipes with Bombers and in the campaign where Orange Star is madatory/available, he's easily the best of the three. Just not on par with Kanbei or Eagle anymore

Ned Flanders Trust me in AW 1 Max winns 90 % of the Time against Grit.I played against a lot of good Human Players and every time it was Max vs Grit.Max destroyed Grit
+Godot In DS, Max mates up with Javier and wins the game because Grit does no damage :)+Ned Flanders If you got bombers and copters as well as a few tanks, you can easily reach Grit and destroy his units with one shot (at least it works in AW1).
Max is upfront and likes to be DIRECT about that. Especially in bottlenecks. I hope the remake undos the mistakes in Black Hole rising. Hes a brawler and rightly so.
Max ist echt viel zu schwach in Dual Strike das einzigst gute was man sagen kann ist das er im sandsturm stärker wird weil er ja eh keine indirekten Angreifer benutzt
Godot Ich frage mich, warum man so was macht.
Man this feels good in a Heavy tank when playing World of Tanks just knowing NOT A LOT IS GOING TO END MY DAMN DAY (Artillery and TD will fuck me however)
Sure, he sucks at ranged combat. But I think it's a known fact that tanks win battles. Tanks are just expensive enough to be powerful, but affordable. They are maneuverable and only get beaten out by air support and better tanks, and on some maps battleships... but then you mass produce anti-airs which also take the top spot for most usable unit in an advance wars game. Build some battle copters to block off/pelt the larger tank series and you have a very stable, low cost army that can build on itself rapidly.
Henny Zhi there is a problem however. Choke points hold a problem as max cant really defend them with just directs. Fog of war also hinders him as rockets can snipe him and he cant do the same which makes him very predictable.
Allen Felipe Predictability does hinder him quite a bit. When I play against my brother I usually have to play glass cannon with him in order to win, but usually loosing a battle at a choke point is where the game slides in his favor. With certain CO's like max, grit, or eagle you have to really push their advantages to make them work. What I do like about Days of Ruin is that it evened the field by only applying the powers to a certain radius of a given unit. In every advance wars before it I would have to play mirror matches to have a fair game if it was something like Kanbei in pre-deploy or Colin in deployed.
what kinda makes me sad is some matchups with eagle force him to at first spam b copters but after a couple anti airs are in play its just a ground war with you hoping to get a lightning strike to push through.
Allen Felipe Floating Fortress from AW2 demonstrated that Air Units don't fall as easily to their counter picks as ground units do. If you get the first strike with a bomber it doesn't matter what the opponent has. With Eagle it's more important to do enough damage to the enemy so they don't have any anti-airs or fighters that could pose a threat. Sometimes, it's best to use the normal CO power that cuts the units power in half if it means I can cripple everything on the playing field.
I dread to think just how badly Max has been nerfed in transition to Dual Strike. And considering how unbalanced that game is, that’s saying something. I never played it myself admittedly. I only played Advance Wars via Wii U Virtual Console.
The "only" nerf he got is that Max Force and Blast no longer give him movement, so yeah, Max is average at best in Dual Strike. He actually received a buff as well believe or not: his indirect units have average firepower instead of a -20% penalty: good luck using them with -1 to range though!
Are you sure? AW has some kickass songs, but Fire Emblem has some songs that are just too good to pass up, like Three Houses' "Shambhala (Area 17 Redux)", Radiant Dawn's "Ascent" and Shadows Of Valentia's "Twilight of the Gods", hell, on the GBA games you have things like Sacred Stones' "Rise Above" or Binding Blade's "Battle for Whose Sake", Fire Emblem has many good songs. Though, the recently announced AW 1+2 Remake seems like it's going to have AW's soundtrack kick even more asses.

This theme always makes me think of Advance Wars. It’s honestly the one I’m most nostalgic for, despite barely hearing it.
Has maximum strength, this hot-blooded lug shows everyone how strong he is.
the use of steroids made him what he is in DS.
"What? Of course I didn't overdose on steroids! You're crazy." meanwhile he looks like he could lift an entire megatank with just one finger
I can't wait to hear how this sounds in Re-Boot Camp.
Great theme, it suits Max so well. It's just so underappreciated by AW fans.

How to rebalance Max:
