My son was like Trey and the teachers talked us into advancing him. Academically he did great, but socially he was so much younger than his peers he really struggled. The next year we had them put him in multi aged classes and the next year after that we put him back with his age group. We were lucky that all of his teachers were on board with him doing advanced course work. Social peer groups are just as important for an advanced child as academic advancement is.
Wow! Landon you look amazing! It's so clear you've worked hard to get healthy. It's so inspiring. Kason's answer was so sweet. ❤ love your family!!! Thanks for sharing your lives.
You are inspiring people and parents. Seeing the light that shines in you and your children is obvious, and a remarkable testament to the power of love and acceptance. Just a note of appreciation.
So glad that you did not let Trea skip a grade. At the school that I teach it is not even considered because we scaffold our instruction to meat the needs of all learners. The social and emotional part of school is another thing that is so important for a child and keeping them with kids their same age is so important. Love the questions and the answers in this vlog. Great idea, Mindy!!
I think it is wise to keep Trey with his same age peers. The social and emotional demands of school are important and impactful-especially as he gets older. I hope that his school will provide a challenge to him either formally through a specialized curriculum or informally by just plain good teaching. I know that some may be concerned that he may be bored if he doesn’t skip grades, but as a teacher for almost 40 years, I have seen smart kids get bored, but I have never seen truly gifted kids get bored. They use their great big beautiful brains to be creative. Please let me suggest that at home, encourage Trey to go deeper, not faster. Ask him why and what if questions. Give him projects and let him see what he can do! If I remember correctly, he enjoyed helping Kylie decorate for Christmas. Maybe he can figure out budgets for that next time or how much paint or other materials you will need.
Only concern I have about not skipping Tre is you don't want him to get bored. We had this happen with my daughter and my nephew. Both were bored in their classes in elementary and older. It turned to causing problems in the classroom because of boredom.
As someone who was in the foster system, and has been to a closet similar to the ones you guys created (in Southern California). Thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Getting to go "shopping" for clothes that actually fit is a memory that I hold dear, and I appreciate all that you guys do!
Great! I respect you for not skipping Trey . Let him be a kid. He is so precious. School work will be harder. He needs to be with kids his own age. You are super parents! (Kindergarten teacher for 25 years.
Brinley, I am so glad you named this fear because people always say to me how can you be afraid of butterflies? And I am. Finally someone who understands
Thank you for knocking on the door first before opening it. It shows the kids that they have a right to privacy, and it teaches the kids to give each other privacy.
Through my school we collected items for comfort cases, which supplies kids in foster care with backpacks and all the essentials they need. This is the 3rd year of doing it and this year we made 127 bags to donate
A lot of people who go through those programs end up very burnt out on learning really early on and they end up being very stunted in adulthood when they're pushed in to the real world. Look up people talking about it and a lot of them have a lot to work through in therapy because of being in those programs
Kason's answer was the sweetest. Trey is so smart and yet so humble. I'm glad you kept him with his age group. I just hope his teacher keeps challenging him so he doesn't get bored. Mindy, you asked some pretty interesting questions. Made for a pretty funny vlog.
A very good friend a few years ago bought 500 backpacks and donated them to foster care in central & west Texas. They than asked our church and other organizations to donate different sizes of clothes & shoes and loaded the backpacks for boys & girls. I thought that was so awesome.
This was an interesting, but different Q and A. I really enjoyed it. It is not that I do not like the others but they were general questions and we learned something about each person! Very cool about the closet idea you did for the offices for foster kids. I hope that has gone throughout the country because that is just giving these children some dignity at a very difficult time for them.
I just want to say, don't feel like you have to post every day! Both the question and answers were absolutely great. Also, great to mention that they only had to answer if they wanted to.
I really enjoyed this video. Good job Mindy on all the different questions. And I love all the answers from the kids but especially Mom and Dad's answers.
Super enjoyed this video❤❤❤Well done Mindy 👏🏼👏🏼💚for the great questions and all the kiddos for their answers. Jared and Shelly you are great parents ❤👏🏼🥂. Much love!
the spot where you went outside with Addy and Aubrey can't you add on to that spot and make that an addition and you can make it both a work out area and a play area?
I loved those questions. Kudos to Mindy (and congrats on taking care of your health, nothing more important than that!) I loved that the questions were nothing like, "what's your favorite color," but really good ones that made the kids and adults think a little with some great answers!
You guys said some thing about the closets I remember years ago there was a video and you guys were showing a little bit of what you put in the closet and how excited the kids were to come with you after school and during the weekends to just put things in the closets. I think that is so cool and I’m glad that most of them are still open. I was wondering what happened to those but honestly I didn’t really start commenting on peoples videos until like two or three years ago. I don’t know why, but I just felt weird doing it but I got over that I guess.. oh I love all these answers
Brinley isn't alone. A close friend and myself took our smalls to the butterfly place for an adventure. The only thing we succeeded doing was terrorizing them. We still laugh about now and those smalls are in their thirties! At the time it wasn't funny but it is now.
Oh my gosh, when you first said a kid in a garbage bag, I assumed you meant their belongings in the garbage bag, not literally wearing a garbage bag, that is heartbreaking. Button a lighter note, it is absolutely fantastic that the CPS have kept the children’s closet’s up and running, that is just amazing- and well done for setting it up and running.
Trey seems so young for his age, think its because of the way he talks and he'll always be the baby of the family. Great he's doing so well in school though!
Landon looks like he’s really stuck with his healthy eating! Looking good bud! Hopefully Trey gets some opportunities to progress outside of school, maybe a stem group?
My youngest stepped on a beehive when he was 5 and got stung about 60 times (that’s just the stings the ER found. He was in too much pain to look for more) but probably more.
Hello crazy middles, I'm glad that you're not going too let Trey skip grades, even though he's really smart, it will put pressure on him, my child in kindergarten was an honor roll student, and she Kept it up thru College, to the extent that she is in the Honor Roll Society for life, let him go at his pace, my daughter was in a double grade classes, 2-3, 3-4, etc, when in high school her last year she was she was taking extra College courses and got into college with extra credits, 😊 middles,
Hello crazy Middle's thank you for sharing this video and all your videos your family is amazing and I know I always say thank u but I truly mean it your family makes my heart so happy and makes my day a little better every time I watch your videos thank you so so much ❤❤😊😊
Yes he is my fave! I know it is not intentional but he seems to be always left out and i can relate with that so much. Do you know if they already made him play the violin or cello?
Thank you for sharing. Great questions from Mindee, I wasn't surprised by the answers. A crazy/funny thing Landon has done or experienced was falling backwards with his chair and staying stuck on the floor. Needed to call for help...on his cellphone to get up 😂 Keep inspiring, empowering and edu-taining.
Please allow them to skip trey in grades. It is an amazing opportunity & really helps with development and social skills & coping to real life after school is over. I have seen both sides of the process (allowing to skip grades and not ding so and allowing to skip grades and doing so). I was allowed to skip grades for most of my school career but my mom kept insisting that I didn't. For her she felt she was helping, but for me, it was a huge hindrance. I would get bored in class because I already knew the material, I couldn't relate to people my age/ my peers because they couldn't keep up with my thoughts. So eventually, to cope, I "dumbed myself down" so I could actually have friends. This caused me to act out and also now as an adult, I feel like I never achieve what I feel I'm supposed to. My nephew however, has been told to skip grades and has. He is THRIVING. He relates better to the older kids/ teens, he is challenged and interested in his classes and is overall very well-rounded. So please please allow trey to go as far as he can as fast as he can and don't look back ❤

I wanted to skip but my parents were worried id be bullied. Unfortunately, i was bullied in my own grade for being a nerd and teachers pet…

One of the many things I appreciate in your vlogs is the fact that Jared tries to vary your family games, challenges and life lessons. Amazing 👏🏼
I knew kason was gonna say the day he was adopted. So sweet 💜
No u didn’t
Same
I was honestly guessing that while he was reading the question
@@kierstencarl6522 How would you know?
@@kierstencarl6522 how do you know? Do you know them personally?
Landon looks soo good now. He’s doing such a good job looking after himself! Keep the good work up!
Great! I respect you for not skipping Trey . Let him be a kid. He is so precious. School work will be harder.
He needs to be with kids
his own age. You are super parents!
(Kindergarten teacher for 25 years.
So cool Brynley is interested in sewing.
Kason and Trey are just the cutest little dudes ever xxxx
Loved hearing all the different answers from everyone in the family! Mindy came up with some very good questions.
Brinley, I am so glad you named this fear because people always say to me how can you be afraid of butterflies? And I am. Finally someone who understands

Can they put trey in a gifted and talented program so he can stay in his grade but do higher level work?
Yeah if he's so smart he should move up shouldn't let his smartness go away( he has a gift don't hold him back (
My husband was in a gifted and talented program when he was in elementary school and it helped him because he was smarter then everybody in his grade.
A lot of people who go through those programs end up very burnt out on learning really early on and they end up being very stunted in adulthood when they're pushed in to the real world. Look up people talking about it and a lot of them have a lot to work through in therapy because of being in those programs
Most schools do that starting in fourth grade. I’m not sure what grade he’s in right now.
@Michaela Baron not the best idea he could potentially get bullied by the older kids in his class or be peer pressured into inappropriate behaviour
Kason's answer was the sweetest. Trey is so smart and yet so humble. I'm glad you kept him with his age group. I just hope his teacher keeps challenging him so he doesn't get bored. Mindy, you asked some pretty interesting questions. Made for a pretty funny vlog.

You are my favorite family on RUclips. Great video. Thank you so much for all you do.
Landon is really looking different . Very proud of him.
Great questions Mindy. The foster closet story is sad and beautiful. Thank you for sharing that story.
the spot where you went outside with Addy and Aubrey can't you add on to that spot and make that an addition and you can make it both a work out area and a play area?

A good alternative to the rules question for when parents get them is, "What rule did you consider making before deciding it was too unpractical?"
A part 2 of this would be wonderful !
Kason hair is so cool
Yes
Great questions and wonderful answers, especially the foster care and bringing their clothes in garbage bags, they need suitcases and/or backpacks ❤😊
I think they were saying a child came to them wearing a trash bag. So sad
