    Daniel talked about this specific hand and that he really regretted the river bet on his RUclips channel

    I think a lot of pros make too many thin value bets like this and end up in spots like this. I feel like its such an obvious check too in my opinion. I see this a lot in cash games too. I check call daniels hand in a cash game too and i win more times than not when they hand gets played this same way up to the river. Just my opinion.

    He shouldn't be betting if he is always folding, because there is a percentage of the time he will get raised like this, but mainly because there aren't enough worse hands Justin can call with, as you both said, but I am surprised you both think it's an instafold from Daniel with zero thought of calling. He's beating all bluffs and the value is very few combinations. It's probably better to hero with a J than a 2 or 6 because you beat so many more hands that Justin turns into bluffs on the river, even though 2s and 6s block value obviously. I'm not saying he should hero here, just thought you might discuss it because he chose to bet.

    How much action have they had on themselves though. Like how much money dud Bonomo really make?

    When Daniel decided to bet the river, I was thinking, Hmmm. I guess I'm not smart enough to understand why I should bet the river. I'm probably missing a lot of value by not understanding this.

    lol at “if Bonomo bets the turn he’s only repping full houses”

    • @Stockhandle123
      @Stockhandle123 6 лет назад +1

      Pat Jablonski if he bets the turn after raising the flop what value is he repping besides full houses?

    • @patjablonski9739
      @patjablonski9739 6 лет назад

      7x. Not saying it's standard or anything and with this specific tournament dynamic, making that flop raise with one pair might be less likely, but it's SB vs. BB and they're deep enough where he could do it. Otherwise your flop raise value range is very narrow (77, 66, 22, 76) and you have to play your draws passively to prevent yourself from overbluffing

    • @Stockhandle123
      @Stockhandle123 6 лет назад

      Pat Jablonski A7 maybe but i really doubt it. ive watched a ton of ZJustin (since before he was his own grandma). he isn’t raising a naked 7 there.

  • @anthonyfox3491
    @anthonyfox3491 6 лет назад

    I probably don’t bet the river, but Justin can have a few combos that are worse and can call A6 sp, 6-5 sp, 9-9, 10-10. Seems unlikely that Justin has a 7 given turn action, so we are really only afraid of a boat. Unfortunately, that’s what Justin reps with his bet.

    I agree on Negraneu's river bet. It's destined to never get value as you said.
    Guess it is some version if a blocker bet and Bonomo may have pounced on that.
    I definitely think check-call is a better line for DN here.
    I don't like this raise from Bonomo unless he is acting on the ideas Daniel has blocker bets like this in his range. If so, then he probably doesn't even need to assume DN will fold a 7 that often. And he wants the A hi hands to fold (busted spades for example).

  • @mercilpb
    @mercilpb 6 лет назад +6

    Agree about Dnegs river bet. We do much better check calling IMO.

    • @moneymikz
      @moneymikz 6 лет назад

      Peter mercil Agreed, unless Bonomo goes nuts on river then it’s real tough to call with one pair IMO

  • @thexamlop
    @thexamlop 6 лет назад +1

    The purpose of the river lead is very simple and important : balance. If like you said Daniel plans on bluffing his missed draws that's a ton of combos and he's probably going to be bluffing too much (not mentionning the fact that he wants to check some nuts sometimes). And if he's bluffing too much Bonomo can hero call the river with A high or even anything that beats the straight draws (depending on how loose Daniel will be raising PF). Yes in a vacuum check-call river seems better because it will exploit best what most vilains do, but against a player as strong as Bonomo really considering balance and going for super thin marginal value bets is probably not so bad.

    The only hand Daniel could hope to get value is Ace high, probably with the spade draw... would Bonomo *never* make that call? Negreanu could be turning a spade draw into a bluff on the river.

  • @hcantrell10

    Stape’s analysis blows on this hand. He disagrees with us and thinks Daniel can get value from his Jack on the river. How? Is Joe just dumb?

  • @nathansmith7335
    @nathansmith7335 6 лет назад +1

    This is just a pure exploitation of Daniel by Justin in the face of his weak blocker bet on the river.

  • @jcupbusterful
    @jcupbusterful 5 лет назад

    Hated the river lead. Range of exactly pocket 8s-10s and I guess ace high you are hoping to get called by??? Awful. Does anyone else think Bonomo probably would have overbet river if dn checks? I honestly believe dn was gonna face that decision regardless of his river play. His blocker bet cost him the pot. Lot easier to call the overbet river bet than the overbet river raise.

    Also, whenever u make a bet, one of the first things you should know, is what youre gonna do if u get raised. And if u have to fold top pair to a raise, than you should be checking with pot to stack ratios the way they were.

    Could justin do this With 8s through 10s? He could check raise to deny the draws or give the draws poor odds. And those may call Daniels river bet

    • @nylac100
      @nylac100 6 лет назад +1

      Hard to imagine 99, TT without a pf raise. We partially block 88 from Daniel's view.

    • @fabiogaucho77
      @fabiogaucho77 6 лет назад

      Nah, it is an obvious raise pre-flop and a mandatory bet on the turn. If you have a modest overpair, you have to fire while the board has no cards above your pair.

    • @svmohata
      @svmohata 6 лет назад

      daniel had already raised from a 10k call to 75k raise.. with such a big preflop raise, I'd think 88-10s are more likely to call than 3-bet there.

    • @JoshGrayUni
      @JoshGrayUni 6 лет назад

      Yeah I like a 3bet with TT but not always with 99 pre. Would probably pot control on the turn when Daniel could easily have a 7. So that's 9 combos we're targetting, but still a little thin, given that all the draws missed and Justin's just gonna fold or he has us crushed. Whereas he could bluff his missed draws and we get value that way: 12 combos of 89 alone even without counting the flush draws, seems we have more value by check-calling...

    • @nylac100
      @nylac100 6 лет назад

      @@svmohata if Bonomo knows Daniel is raising the sb as low as j8s, 3- betting pairs 88 and up is almost mandatory.

  • @alibaba0617

    Lol.. Do u think Daniel has been conned? Hear me out..
    Old Negreanu wud have told him that he has 67 or 22 and still called..
    After learning new 'strategies' and by working on his game with the help of younger kids like Justin... He has given up his ability to call down and bluff catch..
    On the other hand.. Guys like Justin bonomo knows exactly how he is going to think and act in certain situations... And they can exploit that...
    I think Daniel should look at this bluff and give this aspect thought too..
