+ROLANDO RODRIGUEZ CASTILLO oh sorry, you mean that. well as far as i know texmaker is just an editor for the code. whenever you call up packages and compile the code you are using miktex in the background. texmaker is only an editor, miktex is the real tex machines will all packages and utilitues.
It is a great tutorial. One thing to add is that the new External PDF Viewer link for Adobe reader is "C:/Program Files (x86)/Adobe/Acrobat Reader DC/Reader/AcroRd32.exe" %.pdf. The default link in "Configure Texmaker" needs to be changed.
Mae Leong that depens on personal taste. I prefer to work with the incorporated pdf viewer since with ctrl+right click on the pdf you can jump to the corresponding line of code (if you compile with pdflatex). This is not possible with adobe reader.
Hello there, im here in 2018 watching ur tutorial but the TeXmaker version now is 5.0.2. I first installed MiKTeX and then TeXMaker as you did, but when I try to quickbuild I get the error: Could not start the command, view log and there's totally nothing I can fix this with. Any help ?

I have a problem with installing the Miktex... at the end of the installation an error ocurrs and I can't complete the installation. First I downloaded the wrong Miktex (I have a 64-bit computer and I downloaded the 32-bit), but then I downloaded the right one, but still no complete installation :(
The installation of Miktex usually takes quite a while, even in 64 bit systems. But it should not take longer than 10 min. Anyway, uninstall all versions of Miktex you have in your pc first, go to "programs and features", uninstall Miktex. Alternatively, read these uninstalling instructions tex.stackexchange.com/a/231143 After removing Miktex completely, try to install the 64 bit version. Good luck!

+Mauricio Lobos I uninstalled and re-installed the program hoping that it would help, but it didn't help. I just use a simple "Hello world" to see if it works. I use the pdfLatex + view PDF in the configure window like you did in your video. Now when I press quickbuild, it says error - file not found. I have a hunch maybe texmaker can't find some .exe file that is needed to create the pdf.

I followed the steps but I get an error when I try to run the LaTex file and it says: Could not start command pdflatex -synctex=1 -interaction=nonstopmode %.tex
I installed Miktex first and then Texmaker. I ended up resolving my issue though, apparently there was a task running in task manager called "Miktex Manager" or something and it seemed to be preventing me from creating the build and running it, and it opens up only when I start a new file in Texmaker. So all I have to do is end the task and I can get to writing. Thanks for the tutorial!

Hey! Sadly I dont know the details, but I can only imagine that Texmaker scans your PC during the installation for the Tex distribution (Miktex) and configures all needed commands accordingly.

The X in LaTeX is Greek "ka" sound, as in "tech" and not soft as in "tax". Donald Knuth, the author of TeX made this clear on the first page of his manual. He explains how X comes from: "English words like ‘technology’ stem from a Greek root beginning with the letters τεχ...; and this same Greek word means art as well as technology. Hence the name TeX, which is an uppercase form of τεχ." He goes on to explain how it sounds in spanish and other languages. I don't understand why even after 30 years, people insist on mispronouncing? It is not "tex-maker", it is "TECH-maker". It is not "la-tex", but "la-TECH". Use hard K. Is that too much to ask if you insist on making videos without reading the manuals?

Anar Rustamov I know only one way. Close TexMaker and start Miktex's Package Manager (the normal one, I dont think you will need the admin version) . Miktex's Package Manager was installed automatically as you installed the Miktex distribution. In the packages manager you can search packages with keyqwords and install them by pressing the + on the left corner of the window.

How can we add package to TexMaker?

Anar Rustamov I know only one way. Close TexMaker and start Miktex's Package Manager (the normal one, I dont think you will need the admin version) . Miktex's Package Manager was installed automatically as you installed the Miktex distribution. In the packages manager you can search packages with keyqwords and install them by pressing the + on the left corner of the window.
