Hey, I actually remember seeing footage of this trait from a Douyin video of it from the CN test server. It used Ripper as an example of how it could be made useful and it was pretty much exactly as you speculated. I can't imagine the trait with Dream Witch.
netease: no new traits for hunter also netease, pushing flywheel into live under a sheet: nothing to see here I play both hunter and survivor, and it's significantly more frustrating to play hunter.
Thanks, but I actually used Dream's take on this investigation series. What better way to learn about investigative videos than to learn from the best. Instead of hating on him, people can use him to their advantage as he paved the path for what worked, and now we can use those same tactics in our video for greater dramatic effect and viewer retention. His style is also incredibly effective. The tone in the voice, almost as if the youtuber is having a conversation with you in person, as well as the music is really the killer here for interest. I used to watch him before he got millions of subs like now, and I rewatched his Minecract Mystery series since it was so effective at what it did and studied his tactics, from his voice, to the gameplay, to the order of topics, and the music. I only watched the shark one fully when studying it, but I looked at his others to compare for a bit.
@@SikeyYT Wow! I didn’t know that dream had another series relating to mindcraft. I honestly thought that he only did man-hunts. the overall tone of the video and the fact that the topic is kinda like “lost-media” is reminiscent of blameitonjorge. you should do a video dedicated lost media related to idv. keep up the good work!
Even though that hiding trait would be interesting I think they scrapped it simply because it wouldn't be much of a game changer for most hunters . Cuz Ripper gets an obvious benefit from this but he's really the only hunter who could really use it properly (any other character wouldn't sacrifice blink or teleport just to remove the light and heartbeat if theyr'e still visible). So they're not only unwilling to change the meta much but also the trait in the vid is, down to its concept, not good for 99% of hunters. Balancing this would be incompatible with jack too, since he'd be kinda broken
You can say the same thing for patroller: Unusable for 99% of hunters but broken on DW (Feaster is a maybe but good survivors wont give back to back hits even with patroller). So really just because it would only be broken on 1 hunter is not good enough to say that thats the reason why they didnt add it.
@@SikeyYT I think the patroller situation reaaally depends on whether they buff/nerf it because the ability itself is useful, it’s just not good enough for many hunters. For hiding however, down to its concept it wouldn’t have worked without adjustments because the hunter would still be visible and it would be kind of useless
The trait was recycled for time of reunion event the if my memory doesn’t fail me it was a built in trait for any hunter the game mode was to hide the little girl luring her with dolls as a hunter, and stop the survivors from finding her, if she’s found the hunter has to hunt down the survivor which little girl is in, ngl the bot was on the spot with her skills.too, but if you swing in invisible form would stay stunned for 3 seconds but used correctly you would pop out as Joseph pls correct me if wrong
I mean, I kinda disagree. It is a %100 frustrating to die quickly but I think these traits are the only things keeping hunters from losing to cipher rush all the time.
Im a little confused: How does this statement reflect why the lost trait wasnt added? Maybe you just meant this as a general statement about current traits.
@@SikeyYT well I was responding to your statement that hunter traits are abused and that’s why they haven’t added anymore. But traits like blink and patroller may be the only way some hunters can get a down, otherwise they’ll get kited the entire match. Cipher rush makes it so if you get kited you’re screwed.
As a hunter main, this would not be a good fix for anything. I do think new traits would be good, but the problem with this trait is not only would very few hunters benefit from it, it would create a frustrating issue with the gameplay its self for survivors. unlike many asym games, idv has a radar and much of the gameplay is visual. survivors are given audio and visual clues due to the fact that a mobile interface makes it harder to see things in general. not only that but some players may have the game muted when casually playing. thus the heartbeat having a visual as well. adding a trait that completely negates these core design elements would create frustration with casual players and issues with the game in general. traits in general currently are in i'd say a pretty good place. and due to the fact ANY hunter can use them, it's unsurprising they haven't added a new one. it creates a huge amount of variables for the devs to balance, when there's already so many things that can effect the game. adding personas is a better choice due to persona points being limited. ie; flywheel being implemented means either not having borrowed time or tide turner. so it balances easier. i will say some of the wording here feels a bit weird. because you talk about dream witch as if it's an easy win to use her, same with breaking wheel. when they take a lot of work to play properly and are still effected by looping and kiting strategies. breaking wheel can't just one hit down you out of nowhere. he has to have hit you multiple times for that to work. and that is entirely on the breaking wheel being good at hitting you. when most you can just circle back and forth around a tree and not get hit. and in normal quickplay, how many times do you see someone with the patience to play dream witch? these are extreme examples to use, when currently most hunters struggle with map control. and a game can be lost if you don't secure a down in 60 seconds. yes the game is much harder when you're with new players as survivor, but that's literally every asym game. people take time to learn. but it becomes far more in the favor of survivor once they learn the basic flow of the game. and the fact that a team can get 3 ciphers done (at least) within the time it takes one person to get downed and die on chair. the reason cipher rush is usually talked about is because as a hunter, one mistake can let you know you're going to tie or straight up lose. while survivors have to usually make multiple mistakes for the same outcome. but the game is not a simple thing to balance because it's meant to be fast paced and allow both sides a feeling of some control. frankly as someone who did play in 2019 took a break and came back in 2022, they have actually done a good job making a huge amount of changes over time to make multiple characters better or more fair. with far larger changes than what you normally see from a free game. the devs do pay attention far more than most, especially when it comes to an asym game which at this point are notoriously hard to balance. but by god i do hope at least for higher ranks they do something about cipher rush, because by god a team that knows what they're doing can have a game in their pocket within a minute, which is why almost every hunter is forced to bring detention or at least trump card.
Its a fine buff idea, but I think a better idea is to start with 2 traps and then pickup 6 other unarmed traps scattered around the map instead of waiting 5 years for more traps. Since gamekeeper has the hook, I dont think adding damage to traps is justifiable when he already has a way of chasing
@benji yeah bc survivor mains at least in naeu stick only to survivor bc they are too nervous to play hunter. Then they have poor game sense because they don’t understand hunter and then they suck at the game and rely on broken survivor abilities to win. Then they think BQ is broken bc they don’t know how to counter her, or maybe she’s broken because she’s a viable hunter in todays meta who consistently only ever ties. I wonder why she can only tie even after she gets an early down…💀 It’s just a cycle at this point. I could go on and on but I’d be wasting my breathe bc survivor mains complain the moment a hunter can actually win, or have a chance at winning.
I have played this game for 4 years at a competitive level; of course I dont think hunters have it easy, but Im also speaking as someone who expects perfect gameplay from hunters and dont have much difficulty using traits myself either. No one is perfect, but traits are one of the easier things to use you must admit. Who do you think knows more about traits: Hunters who main a few select hunters who must learn to use a handful of traits (assuming they main more than 1-2), or survivors who have to learn to beat every hunter + trait combo in this game? I hope you can get past my biases anyway, we all have them.
@@SikeyYT perfect gameplay for hunters doesn't matter because survivors have the means and abilities to support each other immensely. It's clear from any big tournament that hunters do not have it easy even with perfect gameplay, or even using a trait effectively. Also, a handful of traits? It is not that hard to counter more than 2 thirds of the hunter traits in this game LMAO. The only trait that has consistently been good is blink. And since you're bringing "competition" into this, what hunters are used the most? Polun, Dream Witch, Sculptor. And then what if they're banned? Blood Queen, Geisha, Naiad. And the other A- tier hunters are weak against harassment and are countered by transitional kiting. From a competitive and tournament standpoint why would you ever need to worry about seeing a Luchino or Wax Artist? That literally makes no sense Sikey because NO ONE PLAYS THEM. Even then it's easy to predict what they'll do and what trait they'll bring and top survivors should have no issue countering them. Complaining about traits being "easy to use" is such a hypocritical thing to say considering how easy it is to pick up survivor. Game sense is another thing, but mechanically survivor is not difficult whatsoever. Pressing a button and moving your screen around isn't hard Sikey LOL. Hunter is harder mechanically because you actually need skill to use your abilities, unlike priestess, merc, seer etc. Survivors don't have it as hard as hunters do and that's an undeniable fact. This game is survivor sided. It's not even bias at this point, you are literally delusional.
Sikey I know you never reply on comments but do you think buffing Listen trait where the hunters aren't slowed down when walking while using it and it also get more durability when using it each time. Would it be a good buff or still not that good and start with full durability at the beginning of the match.
Prob not listen is useless and just for beginners Like they ofc don’t know spawnpoints and also might not have tinnitus so they use listen 😭 plus it still wouldn’t be viable when something like blink exists
we probably arent going to get a new trait because of leakers, multiple skins have been delayed because of leakers and i wont be surprised if any new traits are removed because of leakers
Sikey if you played 4 years and are complaining about hunter traits being frustrating you clearly don’t understand the extent of how hard it is to play hunter. Everyones hunter makes mistakes and survivors make mistakes. No one is perfect. But survivors still have a chance to come back if they mess up, meanwhile hunters really don’t. There is really only 2 S tier Hunters which is wheel and DW but if you are complaining about only those two, what about all the S tier and A tier+ survs? Are you blind to how surv sided the game is? These 2 hunters are MADE to be S tier because they are the only ones who can really counter todays meta and they STILL STRUGGLE plus they are incredibly hard to learn. Please don’t let your bias lead to ignorance.
I do agree that the game tends to favor survivors, but that doesnt mean I cant find certain things about hunter annoying, and you cant deprive that opinion from me. Besides, this was more so to give a possible explanation as to why this trait wasnt added. Do note that I am not saying this is the ultimate unarguable reason, it's just a theory, A GAAAAMEEEE theory, thanks for watching! (No but seriously you cant tell me I dont have the right to find stuff frusturating)
From a balancing perspective: if I were the devs, I would nerf all S tiers on both sides to introduce a fresh meta. I agree you cant nerf one side without the other, and I wouldnt mind seeing weak stuff be broken by buffing it as long as it eventually gets nerfed and new stuff is introduced(similarly to how ento and acro were buffed and nerfed over a period of time) and thus the cycle repeats to keep things fresh
@@SikeyYT of cours people will start maining hunters that are op cause look at the survivors meta its broken, i watch alot of pro hunters gameplays the only reason they win is that they know the game mechanics and they mastered their mains but they still suffer from something called cipher rush even if the survivors dont know how to kit or get down easily survivors manage to decode all ciphers lets not forget that its 1 brain against 4
Exactly because it's unfair, hunters are overpowered yet sometimes even tho its 4 vs 1 yet the whole team would suck or mess up so it's mostly 1 vs 1 for me because I never get help as survivor they suck

Hey, I actually remember seeing footage of this trait from a Douyin video of it from the CN test server. It used Ripper as an example of how it could be made useful and it was pretty much exactly as you speculated. I can't imagine the trait with Dream Witch.
I really love the way you made the video like a documentary, it was so cool and complete. Chapeau 😆😆😆😆😆❤️
Thank you, that was my goal 👍
netease: no new traits for hunter
also netease, pushing flywheel into live under a sheet: nothing to see here
I play both hunter and survivor, and it's significantly more frustrating to play hunter.
We got a new trait recently but it's basically like teleport but with a different flavor
This is such a well made video! Many kudos to you!
I think i entered the game when ripper still had the foggy place but i didn't knew until now... It seems strange tho...
this is like a blameitonjorge video but with idv 😭 good video sikey!!
@@SikeyYT I was literally thinking of his Minecraft mystery videos when I started this video
no wonder i literally keeping losing every round as survivor 😐 not saying its only the traits but u know like what sikey said
As an old player, Bikey can tell us many interesting stories like this. 😲
Ripper its on the weaker side
That trait could help ripper much better in the meta
Yeah like he’d prob just end up an s tier hunter not necessarily OP
And forgot 1 thing this mode you could get novelist
deep bro....
That was like 5 years ago lol the hiding thing and back then when i saw the leaks i were like woahhh
Very enternaining video.
Thanks, now I will get wins using listen on dream witch
Even as a ripper main that trait would've been hell to deal with
I mean, I kinda disagree.
“Unsolved crime” Aaaaaaaaahhh yes my fav crime I like to play with is blink
Coming from the surv mains huh.../j
OMG I DO REMEMBER THIS
We had hiding trait only in the little girl event....
Nostalgia
Complains about the traits/ripper
*doesn’t learn the matchup*
I guess you missed the part talking about 2018 meta
Also what do you think if gamekeeper gets a buff where his traps deal half damage of regular attack to survivors when they step on it
Its a fine buff idea, but I think a better idea is to start with 2 traps and then pickup 6 other unarmed traps scattered around the map instead of waiting 5 years for more traps. Since gamekeeper has the hook, I dont think adding damage to traps is justifiable when he already has a way of chasing
that trait should be came in game i still think that
Sikey you are straight bugging if you think hunter traits are frustrating 💀
@benji yeah bc survivor mains at least in naeu stick only to survivor bc they are too nervous to play hunter. Then they have poor game sense because they don’t understand hunter and then they suck at the game and rely on broken survivor abilities to win. Then they think BQ is broken bc they don’t know how to counter her, or maybe she’s broken because she’s a viable hunter in todays meta who consistently only ever ties. I wonder why she can only tie even after she gets an early down…💀
It’s just a cycle at this point. I could go on and on but I’d be wasting my breathe bc survivor mains complain the moment a hunter can actually win, or have a chance at winning.
@benji I definitely won't blame you if you do lol. it sucks playing hunter a lot. but I still love the faction so much that ill keep suffering LMAO
I mean, it's solved now
"OMGGG NERF THE SKILL!!!!"
when the hunter trait was release
Sikey I know you never reply on comments but do you think buffing Listen trait where the hunters aren't slowed down when walking while using it and it also get more durability when using it each time. Would it be a good buff or still not that good and start with full durability at the beginning of the match.
Prob not listen is useless and just for beginners
Like they ofc don’t know spawnpoints and also might not have tinnitus so they use listen 😭 plus it still wouldn’t be viable when something like blink exists
Still useless. Honestly no point of even avoiding listen when your cipher is shaking anyway
The hunters so overpowered man chill
the reason to scrap it also could’ve been the devs sensing the massive amounts of complaints from surv faction in chinese community🤔
This trait would be good today. Just make it so ripper can't use it. Seems fair to me
That would leave inconsistencies for why every other hunter can use every other trait
Oooo spooky
That trait will be broken with reaper
we probably arent going to get a new trait because of leakers, multiple skins have been delayed because of leakers and i wont be surprised if any new traits are removed because of leakers
Ive always wondered how they had access to that stuff. Ive always assumed they had to get permission to show early test server stuff
bro your music choice ..
help
I messed up one of the music choices, turns out one of them wasnt copyright free. My mistake
@@SikeyYT of cours people will start maining hunters that are op cause look at the survivors meta its broken, i watch alot of pro hunters gameplays the only reason they win is that they know the game mechanics and they mastered their mains but they still suffer from something called cipher rush even if the survivors dont know how to kit or get down easily survivors manage to decode all ciphers lets not forget that its 1 brain against 4
I feel like they deleted the trait because it was too op. If they brought it, surviors mains will complain
Exactly because it's unfair, hunters are overpowered yet sometimes even tho its 4 vs 1 yet the whole team would suck or mess up so it's mostly 1 vs 1 for me because I never get help as survivor they suck
Frustrating? Lmao
if we see everything in the game as frustrating, then just delete every survivor and hunter perks
@@noscrubsm I agree
💀
why is this video so dramatic??😭
So that you get hooked onto watching it 😎 (or at least I hope it did)
