- One of the best things about PowerApps is the ability to quickly create an application that turns a paper process into an electronic process. The most recent process that I converted was for our local user group meetings.
In this video tutorial, we walk through creating a PowerApp from an Excel file stored in OneDrive.

Great Video
I was able to replicate this easily enough! Very easy to follow. Something to keep in mind: I wanted to make the “Attended” field TRUE or FALSE to make further integration more seamless. That piece works, but causes issues in the default value entries because it needs to be consistent with the data type of the column defined. True/false values are not considered “text” fields in Excel, so it failed (I also tried this with 1s and 0s, with the same issue). The result was that I would check the box, it would patch to excel, and then the check would disappear and the label would not update. In the end, I had to use text to make it work, but something to keep in mind if you are trying this for yourself.
Thanks Audrey for sharing your great insight!
Very useful.
How would you do it if you had to use the check boxes for recurring events? I am new to Powerapps and looking to recreate something like this but more like an attendance sheet. Ideally, I would like to see check box updating the excel/One drive for "Today's date" ina new column which could be preexisting or created in real time. Any help would be appreciated.
HI can you show to link with SP list instead of Excel? Thanks
Can you share the app?
How would you go about viewing attendees only a separate page?
To see a list of only people that attended the event in the app, I would create a new page and then place a gallery that filters on the field.
Hopefully this helps!
anyway I can connect this to a calendar to see whos is coming into the office
Why did you decide to go landscape? Is there a new excel file every meeting?
Initially we have passed around a YOGA laptop which felt more familiar in landscape mode. At the next meeting we are using an iPad so that might change soon!
After each meeting we need to submit the information back to Dynamic Communities which allows us to simply replace the data in the table prior to the next meeting.
Great questions!
why is the music so loud ?
Sorry about that! Was still learning how to check and adjust audio levels. Thanks for watching and the feedback!
