Don't forget that these higher candela lights are outstanding for passing through photonic barriers such as headlights. Great video as always!

I have the 640 DF Turbo. It is a sweet light. I actually would want one on a handgun, I like the spill on the standard x-300u for a hand gun.

Thank you for confirming my choice. Coming from someone with practical experience, carries way more weight.
    Great content Ivan.

Thanks for illuminating the practical uses for each light... the inside, outside and questions for consideration open our thought processes to various hand and weapon applications.

Just ordered an X300 turbo for my G19 with the idea being the turbo will have that “violent” effect described in the vid. I have been running the Ultra for a few years now and really like it, but it does lack throw. I am thinking I am going to run Ultra on my nightstand G19 and turbo on my carry G19.
Excited to see the difference in person.

Good discussion. Its nice to have options on the market. I think the candela fans get a little bit carried away with what they think a weapon light needs to do, but I honestly think the higher-candela/lower-lumen trend is a better direction than the ultra-high-lumen race in which we were stuck previously. Candela isn't some breakthrough technology. Its just a smaller emitter in a deeper reflector. The smaller emitter is also more efficient, so it gets better full-output runtime. That might actually be my favorite unintended consequence of the candela craze. It brought us back from the awful lumen wars which gave us lights that delivered 1500 lumens for about twelve seconds before losing half their output.

For pistols I prefer the stream light tlr1 hl. 1000 lumens and 20,000 candela. Almost half the price at $150, better reviews, 283 meter beam. Easy to use when mounted on the weapon, mega durable. Honestly wouldn’t change anything about it. But on a rifle I prefer the sure fire 6400 pro with 100k candela. I don’t remember how far the beam goes but it’s further than I can see lol

Q: selfish question, currently working for several years in a forced ammonia -30 deg F warehouse, lights/batteries conk out quick, need bright throw up to 40 foot racking to read tiny barcode information printed on brown boxes or on labels under shrinkwrap, went thru all sorts of increasing lumens, running a CD 1400 lumen 18650 handheld, and even that excellent normie light can't reach the crown layers in the warehouse. Anybody got a brand model that can do this weird ass job?

Armytek Doberman does a good job for me to see a 3/16" black stick against the night sky on top of a rudder at ~30ft
