I love this focus on the shops! 💖 I’m never in the main street shops early enough to actually hear the music. Usually it’s a drowned out by the crowds, unless there’s a parade passing by. 😊

The merchandise is generic and boring as compared to the 70s and 80s when they used to sell very park specific merchandise that couldn’t be found at WDW, and it was all kinds of fun stuff. Posters, pens and pencils, puzzle boxes, records, books, pictorial souvenir guides, and the stuff was often attraction specific stuff too, like a Haunted Mansion wooden puzzle box or a Space Mountain attraction poster, or the Main Street Electrical parade soundtrack on a 7inch Picture Disc. And not only that but the bags you got to carry away your purchases were these really cool paper bags with little color illustrations of the Disneyland attractions. Not the generic plastic bags that just say “Disney Parks” on them and that you can find the same at WDW. Disney has gone so far down hill when it comes to Park merchandise from those days.
