    Non. Never missed anything to my 3 months old kitten Scottish fold even more then protected hovering most the time all my time even I keep her in sight to see what she is doing to prevent any accidents, because I lost my Scottish boy at 6 months and 2 days to heart defects, I was mad at the veterinarian because I asked him to do all the test but at 6 months old me he had heart defects.

    My first cat had folded ears (single) and was a moggy. she lived 19 years.
    1 - she developed arthritis at the age of 11 because she was getting old, but her tail was always flexible, even the last day of her life. I've seen online how to make the tail test on a fold to see if he/she is developing OCD (OCD start from the tail first). The tail of my cat ended up perfect.
    2 - When I adopted my cat, I didn't now the SF breed exist. Yes, she got small ears, but I could not point my finger to the cause.
    I got her cheecked to the vet more, after she got cancer (she didn't die because of it, actually, she defeated the monster).
    3 - well, my cat wasn't a pure breed, and her mum was feral. She was a very good cat, never scratched anything, she didn't even steal food, until she was very old.
    4 - My cat had very dense fur, indeed. But she didn't allow me to brush her.
    5 - My cat was indoor/outdoor. For the first year of her life she was indoor only, but she managed to escape twice and getting lost. I had to slowly allow her to go outside, to avoid to accidentally lose her. She got two accident, she got hit by a car, miracolously with no consequences, and she was shot, got a minor injury. After that, nothing happened to her. But she stayed more around the house. She also had some potentially life treatening accidents indoor. But the only thing that killed her was CKD at 19.
    Unfortunately, the feral cat I adopted later wasn't this lucky.

    • @thecagdot
      @thecagdot  2 года назад +1

      Excessive shedding could be due to stress or illness, so try to find out what changes may be affecting him. Also Scottish folds shed a lot during spring and fall compared to other seasons. Try to groom him regularly to get rid of loose hair.

    Not all Scottish fold have these medical issues. Only the Scottish folds with the folded ears. My kitten is a gray long hair with normal ears, so she will not experience these health problems down the line.

    • @arturwithouttheH
      @arturwithouttheH Год назад

      that's called a scottish straight, which are basically the same cat breed but without FOCD, which is the health problem that causes the folded ears, all scottish folds have this disease, the kittens that are born without it are denominated scottish straights and are indeed completely free of this specific disease, thus are not in pain because of it

    We have an almost 3 year male scottish fold. First yr was rough as he kept defecating with bloody tinged stools. We kept bringing him to the vet and all tests were negative. No parasites except that there were lots of undigested food. Until we thought he might be allergies on foods so we started feeding him real chicken meat plus hypoallergenic dry cat foods. Bloody tinged stools stop (but stool was semi solid albeit acceptable accdg to his vet). On his 2nd yr, we discovered a great dry cat food brand with probiotic and he’s finally able to achieve solid stools until today. ❤

    I let mine out daily but I stay near her and watch her the entire time. She enjoys it and being active helps keep her fit and limber at almost 9yrs old. Which I feel Is the best thing you can do to help them age with inevitable OCD

    Please someone tell me I'm crying please, my Scottish fold male cat pees outside the litterbox, sometimes in front of me , and meows at night and this is all just making me cry, I'm not annoyed but I'm scared that he is trying to tell me something, also is it normal for a Scottish fold to fall of hair? Please someone answer I'm scared

    • @thecagdot
      @thecagdot  Год назад +1

      Yes, they tend to shed a lot depending on the season, but if you’re concerned it’s too much, you should meet a vet for checkup.
      Is he trained to use the litter box? Try to monitor him and make sure he uses the litter box whenever he wants to go.
      Get him more toys and exercise him regularly, that usually helps with the meowing at night.
