My new favorite dried herb is thyme, but my all thyme fav is garlic! 😀
Haha - cute! And they go so well together! Thanks Robin. :) x
Cayenne Pepper🌶
Bacon. If that doesn't count then garlic for sure.
Haha. If only bacon were a spice. I'd sprinkle that on everything! But garlic is a good second option. ;)
Writing the date when opened is such a great idea.
I used to buy a cheaper brand of ground cinnamon until I saw a girl making a smoothie on youtube with this brand of cinnamon, so I bought it to try. WOW! What a difference. This one by Simply organic smells like fresh cinnamon, tastes pure and is delicious. The other cinnamon i owned? Well, i tossed it. It smelled off and wasn't quite as scrumptious after this purchase! Thanks for sharing further information on the brand, as well as your beautiful organizing tips! ;)
My favorite spices: cinnamon, turmeric and onion powder!
Xx
Yes, quality makes such a huge difference! Happy to hear you love Simply Organic now as well! As you can see, I'm slightly obsessed. Haha. Also glad you enjoyed the organizing tips. :) x
I had to come back to this video and let you know how much I appreciate it because I finally have my own house with enough drawers and this is EXACTLY the first thing I did coz I remember your video. I re-jarred all my spices to the same exact square bottles w/ all the SAME color lids and got that shelf inserts. Such a game changer. I can finally see all my spices in one place, no need to frolic through them and topple the other coz I'm a huge klutz lol again thank you for this recommendation, it's seriously one of my top fave way of organizing spices.
I learned about turmeric when I was in Bali and considering its benefits it has become my favorite spice! I love making your golden milk recipe with it. :)
Yes, can't get enough turmeric! I was trying to figure out how to squeeze that spice into my top 10. But I just love too many spices. Haha.
Tumeric and curry.
This is the most beautiful spice drawer I’ve ever seen in my life 😍
Thanks so much 😀I love a good organized drawer!
Love it. It’s beautiful spice drawer. I hope make one by myself. Greetings from Colombia. (Amo esa marca aunque en nuestro país es un poco costosa) I love the cinnamon, turmeric for my health and paprika!
So well done! I love cinnamon...but have recently discovered Vietnamese cinnamon- game changer! There is just a hint of sweet in it right from the jar- au natural;)
Cinnamon is such a great choice! And yes, Vietnamese cinnamon is totally a game changer. I personally love Ceylon Cinnamon as well. Thanks Dawn! :)
And who exactly is watching it during lockdown and sooooo wishing to get out of quarantine and get all the lovely stuff shown in the video.........
Yes, please another video on Spices! I am switching over to Simply Organic spices only, and just placed an order with Simply Organic! This is after realizing that other spices contain heavy metals. I am so glad Lisa told us about Simply Organic. Her mentioning this brand, drew my attention to research about spices, and I found out that most common brands contain lead, arsenic, cadmium, and other heavy metals. I can't believe all this time I was putting heavy metals into my body, by using inferior brands. Starting today, I am tossing other spices. Thanks!!
My fav spice would have to be tumric. I use it just about everyday. I even travel with a small amount so I can have it with my nightly tea. Love your videos and recipes. Watching your pantry orginzation video gave me the kick I needed to redo mine.
Love love turmeric as well! And that's awesome you travel with it! Thanks so much for your kind words and I'm thrilled my pantry video gave you a little inspiration. Thanks Leaha! :) x
organizing alphabetically the only way to go. thank you for this reminder about organic spices. This encourages me to renew my spices. My pantry/cabinets are organized but also time to review the contents; especially the BPA free containers. thank you for your channel.
I color code them, so much easier.
I love that you gave the top 10 for beginners ! Thank you
I’d choose nutmeg or ginger over cinnamon. I found you channel this morning and I have been watching all day! So many great ideas and information!
Love your spice drawer - easier than reaching up to mine. Garlic is my most used spice but tarragon is my favorite with chicken and and sauces.
Thanks! And yes, it's so nice to have all those spices in easy reach. Garlic and tarragon love must run in the family - those are my mom's favorite two as well. ;)
Love this brand! Just save the jars when they are empty , then you have all the same jars without buying more ! I always save my jars for my storage or for kid storage like glitter! :)
Great idea Julie!
Ah I see your travels haven’t gotten you to India. You’ll know what spices truely are👍🏽👍🏽
Love your videos✌🏼
Hi Lisa! I love all spices but my absolute favorite to use and go to would be Garlic. I love your videos. Thank you for sharing your world with us !
Hi Monique! Aww, thanks so much and thank YOU for watching and supporting. I appreciate it beyond words! And yes, garlic is life. Haha. 😘
Love!! I like the square jars also!
Lovely my dear Lisa. Love your kitchen and that spice drawer is to die for!!! I only have a quarter of a drawer with smaller Ikea bottles filled with spices, but they will do for now😁 I mostly love basil, I use it on basically anything. But also garlic, paprika, rosemary and curry. I have recently bought 8 planters with fresh herbs, which I strongly recommend you too, as they bring extra life to freshly cooked meals: I have fresh basil, thyme, cilantro, oregano, Melissa and mint. 😘
Basil is one of my favorites as well! If you watch my older videos you'll see fresh herbs on the back wall. Unfortunately, when I moved I didn't have a new spot for those (that got enough sun), but I will be setting up an herb garden on my little patio. I'm sure I'll have a video on that in the future! But yes, I love both fresh and dried herbs and spices. Thanks so much! ❤️
Love your spice drawer
If RUclips had an awards show... Lisa would definitely be nominated for multiple awards!
I loved this video and would love to see more from the spices category - different uses of each spice, mixing your own spice blends etc.! :) Keep it up, your channel is awesome!
Hi Anna - that's a great idea! I do show how to make homemade taco seasoning on my taco soup video... but I could definitely do more. I'll add it to the list! And thanks so much for your kind words and support! :) x
How interesting that I recently moved and am still in the process of organizing different spaces and was planning on making my spice drawer look just like you're showing it here. :) I first got to know simply organic by purchasing their cinnamon in a store probably... goodness! 10 years ago! I still use that jar (it was refilled many times), and yes, their quality is really great. Now I have a few other spices by them and slowly working my way up to unifying (replacing) my jars from another brand (also organic) with simply organic, just because they look and fit so good - minimalistic, laconic, but very convenient and ergonomic. I do not have nearly as many spices as you do, probably something close to 20, and I use them all if not daily then weekly for sure. :) I really like garam masala and curry mixes, but my absolute favorite is pure coriander, I can just smell it all day.. haha! Thanks for the video, your kitchen gives me many ideas and inspiration! Totally borrowed that white marker one and received many comments and complements :))
Hi Anna - happy to hear you also love Simply Organic and are developing such a lovely spice collection. And yay for that white marker! I seriously label everything now. Haha. Dried coriander seed is the best and fresh coriander (or cilantro) is one of my favorite herbs (along with basil). Thanks so much for your kind words and I'm thrilled you're getting ideas and inspiration from my videos! ❤️
Your videos are so AMAZING I just want to let u know that, for an organizer freak like me thanks for all your times cuz my apt bout to look so Beautiful with these organizations tips 🙏🏾🙌🏾👏🏾👌🏾
Glad this will give you some new ideas 😊
Oh my goodness! Now I have spice drawer envy!! 😂💖
I had no idea a spice drawer was a thing! I always keep them in a cabinet, and of course, I can never find the one I'm looking for. My next house will absolutely have a dedicated spice drawer.
Cinnamon!!! It always has and probably will be from uses in my hair to the fabulous recipes!!!! Thank you! 👌
So delicious - and versatile! Thanks Shambra. :)
Wow I love your draw
One day you are young and dont care about cooking, the next you are an adult who dreams of having a spice drawer like this one 😁
Why I'm jealous of your spices collection
I'm definitely in love with that drawer as well!
Excellent video and tips. Thank you! I love your spice drawer...I’m so jealous!
Awesome
Love your organization ideas. My drawers are smaller so I had to use two. But love the look and view this gives! My favorite spice is ....cinnamon.
Thanks so much! Yes, that large drawer sure is a beauty, but two drawers are awesome as well!
Omg it looks amazing! Spice drawer goals!
I enjoyed it a lot👍🏾
You are organization goals. I'm going to read the blog too, hopefully you linked to the empty spice bottles there. Who knew I'd ever get so excited about spices!? We're moving to a nicer place soon and I plan on using your kitchen (perfection) for my model. Thank you!! (Btw, gonna start using Simply Organic mostly too. They have great spices.)
Yes, they're linked in the post! And glad my kitchen can provide a little inspo for you. :) x
I recently found your channel and I am catching up on your videos. I don’t see the link to the empty spice jars I would like to get a few since I replaced all my spices in which I don’t grow to this brand. Thanks for your video it has changed the way I shop and eat.
Hi! Can you please share where you bought these spices? Or, where do you go shopping & how you do planning, etc. Thank you! :)
thanks for the ideas!
Of course 😊
Yes!!!! Finally a woman who understand why I hate circles. Hahahah. Btw you do not need to buy new jars. 99% alcohol will erase the print on top of simply organic bottles as well as the expiration date. Rub it with a circle cotton pad. It will disappear.
Cinnamon is my favourite spice! I simply Love it!!
It's a wonderful spice!
I've looked for a video showing your patio herb garden. Maybe you could do one?
I will keep in mind to potentially do it for RUclips! But for now, it's saved as a highlight on my Instagram stories 😊
Thank you🙏🏼♥️
My number one favorite spice is nutmeg
Such a perfect spice for this time of year! :)
Wowwww loved that sharpie idea😍 thankyou ur pantry is super organized
That sharpie is great, isn't it? :)
Gorgeous organization. I’d love to have that spice drawer. 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
I would love to see a organizational video on how to organize your fridge. I have such trouble with knowing which drawer to put items in...too high too hot near the light....too low in a drawer items freeze....please help! :)
I have a note to do that video in the future! :)
Black pepper, cinnamon, cumin, curry powder, garlic powder, ginger, oregano, paprika, rosemary and thyme.
if salt counts I would say Real Salt, although my spices are primarily Simply Organic!!!! I love their blends, I use 'vegetable grilling seasons' and 'chicken grilling seasons' all the time!
Gotta have good quality salt! And yes, their blends are delicious! Thanks Erin. :) x
Wow thats a lot of saffron 😱 I can’t wait to have a drawer like this one day 😍😍😍
I'm definitely in love with it as well!
Great little video and I LOVE your spice drawer! I'm going to create one. My spices are in heat and moist environment, handy right by my stove! :( My #1 Fave spice is CINNAMON, followed by fresh Basil. But I love Dill, Cardamom too. Honestly all the spices have a place in my cooking and I use such a large variety. There are too many to choose from as I love to cook my meals at home. The square jars are so handy, thanks for giving the link. As usual, I really enjoyed this video. I have been buying organic spices bulk and then loading them into my little bottles that I've purchased, but these square jars are so cool in that special drawer!! :)
I'm with you Camilla - I love ALL the spices and herbs. Haha. And yes, I'd definitely try to find a new home for your spices in a cool, dark drawer or cabinet (away from that stove - lol). I'm obsessed with Simply Organic's square jars and I'd recommend them over bulk spices, just because you don't know the quality of those spices. So glad you loved this video! :) x
Downshiftology thanks so much!! I’ll create the drawer & send you a photo. :)
I enjoy watching your videos!! Would love to see a home tour or closet organization videos.
My favorite spice is saffron. :)
Thanks so much! I have a home tour video coming in January (as soon as I finish decorating my living room). So stay tuned! And agree - saffron is such a wonderful spice! :)
This is such a great idea. Thank you so much Lisa. I just shared it with a picture on my fb.
I will try and do like yours
That spice drawer is epic
It sure is! The best I've ever had. :)
Just came across your channel. It is Amazing and I love all the videos. Definitely subscribed👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks so much Amina! :) x
I want a drawer like that! My favorite spice is ground cinnamon and a close second would be cumin.
I know - I'm obsessed with my drawer as well! :) Two fab choices for spices!
My fav is chili powder, I add that stuff on everything!
Oooh, you like it hot! Haha - I should get better at adding chili powder to recipes. What's your favorite recipe you add it to?
My new favourite channel. 🤗
Aww, thanks so much Nandi! :) x
I'm so sad that these spice drawer inserts don't ship to Germany. I've been looking everywhere for a suitable replacement, but it looks like I'm gonna have to just get plastic ones. Great video though!
I organize mine alphabetically too! Most people think I’m crazy!
I love this video!!:)
Thank you! 😊Hope this gives some new inspiration.
Hi Lisa ! I´ve watched this video ten times 😂
Yay! I'm happy you enjoy it. ;)
My favorite spice... tough question. If I have to pick one it's cardamon. It pairs nicely with other spices and is not as overwhelming to a beverage or dish like cinnamon can be. Instead it leaves me with a subtle warmth.
Yes! I love cardamom as well and it's perfect for this time of year. I especially love it in my roasted cherry cardamom ice cream. ;) downshiftology.com/recipes/roasted-cherry-cardamom-ice-cream/
Where do you store the extra spice from the jar that doesn't fit into the new jar?
Very helpful video!
Where is the link to the spice jars you mentioned?!?!
It's linked on the blog post. :)
You go girl! We love watching your videos ♥️
Thanks so much. I appreciate that! ❤️
You should try a spice blend called Herbes de Provence. It is really tasty on chicken.
Yes, l have Herbes de Provence and love it! It's a great spice blend. :)
I love how wide your spice drawer is. Would you mind telling me how wide it is?
We will be putting in a new kitchen in a couple of years and I am collecting ideas for it. I want a spice drawer just like this! Also where did you get your spice jar wooden tiers? They look beautiful in your drawer. Thank you for a great video once again. My favorite spice is Tarragon.
I agree, this spice drawer is the perfect size. I just measured it - 30" wide by 18.5" deep - enough for all the spices you'll likely need! And the wood tiers are linked in the description box. So happy this video provided a little kitchen inspo for you! And tarragon is my mom's favorite spice. Definitely a winner. Thanks! :)
gurrrl, you videos are just so informative!
Thank you!! So happy you love them. :) x
As long as the spice smells good - it is good. Don't throw it out!
Excellent video!
Thanks so much!
Ground ginger is my favorite with cumin and cinammon close seconds
All 3 in my top 10! It's so hard to choose isn't it?! :)
may yo put a link to where you got the spice bottles that are not from all organic
Garlic powder is one of my favorite
Great choice. I'd have to agree. ;) Thanks Deborah!
cinnamon- I use it every day!
So good for the body and it makes everything taste (and smell) delicious! Thanks Maggie!
Love your videos, so beautiful and informative. My favorite spise is cumin.
Thanks so much - I really appreciate that! And yay for cumin. So delicious!
i am addicted to spices. i literally have 52! too much for drawers so i put them into super cute glass jars that are magnetic on the fridge. it's really pretty with all the colors, like art! and the truth is i really do use them all.
Love that!
Where do you get the drawer inserts?
Hey Lisa! A little help here, I wish to know all the spices you've got, Could u list it up? ☺️
I've got a toooon of spices in this drawer, but you can see my essentials listed out towards the bottom of this post 😉 downshiftology.com/spice-drawer-organization/
Are they gluten free ? Thank you 🙂
Yes 😊
Hi, recently found your channel and really enjoying it. I'm also a fan of Simply Organic for the same reasons. You mentioned similar jars for the other spices, but I can't find a link for them. Can you please link to the plain jars (I grow and dry a few of mine). I haven't checked your recipes yet, but look forward to them. Thank you
Hi Deborah - sorry about that! I do have the link in the full blog post, so make sure to check over there (also linked in the video description box). Hope you enjoy my recipes! :) x
My favorite spice is Oregano 😍
Such a delicious, savory herb. Good choice! Thanks Gladys! :)
My favorite spice is Saffron.
Saffron is such a fab flavor enhancer - love it!
can i please ask where you bought the empty jars from? thank you :)
Black pepper!
A spice that definitely shouldn't be underscored. Simple is always best! Thanks!
Hey, thanks for the inspiration, would you let me know where did you order the spice jars that are similar to the ones from simply organic ?
Glad you enjoyed it! Here are the empty spice jars: amzn.to/2FZh9V1
My favorite is garlic I put it in everything!
You sound like me Sherry! ;) x
Great video, thanks for sharing! Do you have a link to the spice jars?

Hi there, thanks for the interesting video also the info about Simply Organic. I was looking through the comments and it shows a link for amazon to purchase the empty spice containers however they do not ship to Canada, would you know a supplier that services Canada. Thanks for your help. Joanne
Unfortunately I don't. Sorry!
I love this kind of content. Oraganizing stuff 💕👍
I always appreciate that feedback. Thanks so much!
Looooooove your spice organization but I don’t see the description to buy the empty bottles ☹️
It's linked on the blog post. :)

Cumin (for sure!) Great video (as are ALL your videos)
Cumin is such an underrated spice, isn't it? Love it as well! And thanks so much for your kind words on my videos. I really appreciate it! :)
