The first remix wasn't that enjoyable either as it imo sounded like garbage and having to slog through it just made me really feel uninvested in what was to come but to try giving it a good try I kept going and the second area was fun to me in mini games, with better sound cues to me, then the remix was enjoyable and sounded fine. and I've only gotten to the dream about time minigame but that was honestly the most RH feeling minigame so far and I loved it just had janky timing it felt like to get used to was all (in a similar vain to some might have issues with monkey watch first time playing Fever) but seeing this comment and the few replies did make me think about this and I do agree Melatonin feels like a game meant to be watched and listened to rather than actually played. It feels like it has bad sound cues and despite having 'accessibility' options to give people a visual cue on any level I feel like if your rhythm game has to rely on visual cues you failed at making a rhythm game. so for me atleast when compared to RH I haven't been having the most enjoyable time playing Melatonin but I wouldn't make the generalization of Rhythm Games being more fun to watch than play. (cause I assume games like Rock band, and guitar hero count? if so they're fun to play, and some rhythm games like taiko seems fun to play but I never have played)
I love it, got it a few days ago and am trying for 3 stars on all the levels. It definitely takes some work though, the practice mode is very helpful if you're willing to run through it a few times rather than just once. I think I did practice mode 3-4 times on most levels, to make sure I was comfortable with the timing on all the cues.
This game seems pretty good! My one issue is that some of the games seem to rely of visual cues a bit. Which is something rhythm heaven avoided I think
Same here! I thought about that letter a blind kid had sent to Nintendo thanking them for making a game he was able to play and complete all on his own, and it’s because Rhythm Heaven has clear audio cues as well as fun visual ones.
I feel like a few of the biggest offenders (that I've gotten up to so far) is the money, work and rocket ones. Audio cues in money and work are too similar for me to differentiate and they became more of a memory game. The rocket one on the other hand I think is more the music not helping with the cues. I remember getting very frustrated trying to keep time in my head because the music wasn't helping. For my first rhythm game, I loved it 7/10
It relies a BIT too much on visual cues for me, using a metronome is helpful (in the settings). I personally cannot focus without the little circle telling me when to click because I get distracted
@@xylophone_888The Polaroid one is probably one of the better ones to do without visuals. It has a click for each different size of Polaroid and they’re pretty easy to tell apart. Okay, good I'm not the only one who find that annoying and untrue to the Rhythm Heaven series lol I absolutely love the aesthetic of the game and the genre, but imo, these games should be something a blind person can play with visual cues built into the music. The polaroid one is probably one of the best ones with the differing sounds based on how long you're supposed to hold the beat

Yeah I have kind of mixed feelings about the audio and visual cues. I only played this game up until the first section. I was hoping I could do what I did with Rhythm Heaven and go based on audio cues, but some of the cues sounded so alike to another I had to turn on the visual aid. The followers section messed me up the most.
@@accelplaysgamesbad6382 the phone game is easy once you know what to look for. Not only is there sound cues, there ARE visual cues too like when you do a high jump the phone you land one with vibrate and the screen with turn blue exactly 1 beat before you land on the 2nd beat. All the games have a 4 beat rhythm to them so it'll be 1. .(you'll be just jumping off one phone to the other) 2(jumped off and in the air). .3(you're starting to come down and the phone you land on will vibrate and screen turns blue). .4 (lands on the phone). .1 (jump off). This will be a bit longer on the hard mode. The 3 phone jump will also vibrate the 3 phones with blue screen 1 beat before you have to jump on them. Then it's a faster movement in the same beat time beat 1 it cues you in then beat 2 you jump twice fast while in beat 3 then on the 4th beat you landed on the 3rd phone before jumping off on beat 1.
Funny enough followers is my favorite I zone out on it and ended up with my first 3 stars but I use the audio assist for every game and visual assist for the ones I have trouble with.
I agree. The followers is terrible. I had to use the metronome for most of the game because I was too focused to actively keep the beat for some of the levels. The followers one you kinda just have to guess 🤷♀️
maybe its just cuz i haven't played but it seems like there are not many sound cues, or if there are they are insufficient at distinguishing between certain responses
They definitely don't feel quite as clear as Rhythm Heaven's but you could definitely perfect these games with nothing but audio cues I believe (except that coin one, maybe it's cuz I'm not wearing headphones but there's seemingly nothing to indicate the difference between coins on the left and coins on the right), the visual aspect definitely helps a lot though which is where this game differs from rhyhthm heaven. A lot of the games in RH have visuals that actually serve to distract more than help, which makes the player rely a lot more on the audio cues and as such the audio cues need to be really clear so as to not seem unfair.
The coin one, the stress one, and the final space shooting one i dont think can be done completely blind (basically the multi button games). The single button games are pretty doable with audio cues, although some of them are way more subtle than others. Like work actually has very good audio cues, but the subtlety and the way it plays into the song is what makes it great imo
I just started playing it and liked Chapter 2 but I became really frustrated in both Chapter 3&4 since I can't get the rhythm right without making my other hand a metronome lmao
Make good use of practice mode... On particularly difficult levels I probably went through practice mode 5 or 6 times. Seeing the Polaroid burning level is what got me hooked on this game (still haven't gotten it because I'm trying to save up for a costume and dad wants me to buy these games with my own money) and it just.. it's so amazing- I could play the Polaroid level forever if I had the game
Pretty cool, seems to have the same satisfying gameplay with the cues feeling part of the song, and the music is nice. Just not very into the visuals, specifically the colour palette, the pastel isn't bad, but everything being about the same bright pink and purple feels samey really fast. Besides the 'modern' themes (phone hopping, work, credit card, swipe, minigames) making it feel too dependent on "this is so relatable, ain't it? how do you do fellow millennials"
The color palette is definitely a bit same-y but i think it doesn't bother me because the game is pretty short so it doesn't have long enough to overstay its welcome. If the game were like 100 minigames long id definitely get really tired of it
I gotta say, the whole “so relatable millennial” thing is why the Polaroid burning one is my favorite. It’s gloomier and actually has character implications and action, as compared to the rest.
I mean, you say fellow millennials but these are things that... most people do. Really only the phone hopping one could hit into that but even then you'd be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't use any social media in our current era.
I'm gonna be the odd one and say I actually really liked this game! It's cute and a lot more chill, which I liked since Rhythm Heaven would stress me out so much. I did also like how there were assistance options if you were struggling, as a person that struggled A LOT in Heaven as I couldn't progress bc I was struggling so much. I will agree it relies a little too much on visual cues; but I liked the songs, the art was cute, the buttons were very responsive (as in no delay), and I could actually progress! If you're like me and Heaven stresses you out too much, worth a buy! I say 4.1/5 :)
I think one of the things about rhythm heaven that makes it such a beloved and nostalgic series is the fact that the music is good and the visuals are entertaining. This feels game like a college project.
i really enjoy the "dream about the past" level, it makes me think of finally moving on, this could be from a friend, relationship or whatever. Like the persons finally ready to move on. but also it could be seen as a relationship or friendship ending but the music vibe make it more of like 'moving on' thing for me. the burning of the Polaroids adds onto this of finally having the strength to let go
I absolutely adore this game! My favorites to play are tech, work, money (it's so satisfying), time, past (even tho i'm bad at it), stress, and all the mashups, working on getting all perfects and I'm convinced I'll never get the followers one, lol
Just randomly got recommended this and it convinced me to pull the trigger and finally buy this game. About to play it now hope I have as much fun as you!

Bro the last part is so nostalgic man it makes me feel at home like a just me at home watching the stars at night with a cold breeze going across my hair and body 😊

Isn't the theme about dreams? Wouldn't it make sense for the modern themes to apply anyway?
@@Jey6an Yeah Past was the first minigame i saw and i loved the mood and the theme but the rest don’t really click
If this game is supposed to be a cozy take on rhythm heaven and help you relax before bed, why is it so bright?
It’s not actually meant to get you to sleep, that’s just the theme of the game, about a guy who falls asleep and dreams of things he’d like to do.
Well, firstly, no???? Who plays games before bed if they’re trying to sleep?

Oh... I'm a fan of rhythm heaven games. Might try this one out after my sleep
I remember watching an entire longplay of this game while pullinf an all nighter. I think i fell asleep after finishing but i loved it.
i’d say work is the most fun lowkey.

i like the time level because the sounds of the bat and knee give immersion of baseball for some reason
Edit: ty for 10 likes guys :D
I love how the money in the rain sounds, but I also felt it was the most difficult while playing the game haha
dream about the past is a banger fr
i really enjoy the "dream about the past" level, it makes me think of finally moving on, this could be from a friend, relationship or whatever.
Rhythm Heaven: Lo-fi edition
I have respect for the time level, I'm so terrible at it I always get flustered especially on hard mode
Almost fell asleep, my vision is blurry when I look anywhere, or blink, even though I just laid down for a minute or so, and it’s night. Perfect time
Dream about the past is somehow so sleepy- like so chill, it must be a pain to play, but seeing and hearing it feels like I'm on a cloud in my pajamas
not a bad game at all! its just for a sleepy game, you gotta keep your eyes open for them visual cues. vibing hard with it tho :)

I really like the art style for this, gives me bee and puppycat vibes
this is just vibe
i think for this game to be amazing the sounds just need to be accurate enough so you can beat this game perfect with eyes closed
Tysm for introducing me to my favorite rhythm game 😭
what an inefficient way to get rid of unwanted photos
Just randomly got recommended this and it convinced me to pull the trigger and finally buy this game. About to play it now hope I have as much fun as you!
I'm not sure I like the implications of the first level at all.
Yeah. It just seems so confusing and it’s like “ How am I going to know what the entire rhythm is first try? “.
@Autistic_Emperor I agree. But, I also think the messaging not the best.
Here are the time stamps, or you can just find by yourself, i really don’t care.

idk something about this 'style' of calm lofi music is really off-putting(causes me more anxiety if im being honest)... maybe it's the over reliance on everyday object as sounds or the fact that th beat 9s just ... idk im not a fan of the usic in this game, visuals a beautiful though
I just love how in the dream about time, the clockes are sometiems accelerated like particles in a particle accelerator before flying straight at the bat
So this is pretty much Industrial Revolution and it's consequences: The Rhythm game
"Dream About Time" has the fattest bass I've heard in a while, very unique.
My main gripe is that there doesn’t seem to be enough energy put into the effort (of course, it is supposed to be lofi)
Rhythm heaven features songs and minigames of a lot of varieties. This game features one.
how is this actually so chill
Bro the last part is so nostalgic man it makes me feel at home like a just me at home watching the stars at night with a cold breeze going across my hair and body 😊
I love this game
The polaroids become pinker when the shots are taken
For a like 15 dollar game it was great, cute fun a lot of the songs I really liked
i love it when silent youtubers have personality, even behind the screen
a dream about time is just spaceball with more steps

I agree, Work is the best level
SOOOO SATISFYING we need a real long one to sleep too
the first one sounds amazing tho
i really love the clock one “time” the way it sounds and plays are really cool
How are you supposed to know when to press? It feels a bit random, the bigger jumps.
It's supposed to be 1 beat after you hear the phone vibrate, but the visuals are super disorienting during that segment. It's just not a good minigame idk
@@accelplaysgamesbad6382 thanks for explaining
