  • The Doug Dunaway Memorial MX Park is owned and operated by the city of Harrison, Ohio, and it's a convenient place to get in some dirt riding for motorcycle and ATV riders. The park was opened and dedicated to the memory of a local rider in 2009 and is the only public, city-owned riding area that I'm aware of (it's open three days a week during riding season). The rain was supposed to hold off until later in the day but I happened to ride right into it, which made for some slick riding on the typically hard packed course. As I mention in the video, it isn't a highly maintained professional track but it definitely provides a convenient, fun place to ride for everyone. Thanks, city of Harrison!

This channel is for motorcycle riders, mechanics, and enthusiasts who enjoy the simple joys of motorcycling, from dual sport riding to fixing up old bikes on a budget. My videos also consider the perspective of short motorcycle riders (when it’s helpful and relevant) in choosing and modifying bikes and equipment.
I’ve been hooked on motorcycles since 1975 when, at the age of 11, my dad brought home a shiny new Suzuki TM75 for me and a Suzuki TC185 for himself so that we could trail ride together in the hills of West Virginia. Since then I’ve worked as a mechanic, owned countless bikes, and even worked in the motorcycle industry for a number of years as a photographer and journalist. Now I do mainly video production and enjoy nothing more than making and sharing these motorcycle videos on RUclips.
Thanks again for watching. Ride safe!

A quick update on the sprained shoulder: it's feeling a little better every day and I'm keeping it iced, compression, all of that, for 10-14 days before hopping back on the bike. Better safe than sorry and I don't want to ruin my riding season. That was the first thing I thought after it started hurting...what have I done?! But things are looking good. In the meantime I'll edit together some other footage I've shot for future videos. It sure was a fun day making this video, though, so I don't regret a thing. Be back soon...

Great video, looks like a great little fun park. Wish my local municipality had these facilities, but I do have great forest areas to ride.

Having forest areas sounds great, we have to ride quite a ways to get to state and national forests. Where are you located, Philip? As for this little track, I honestly don't know any other municipalities that offer something like this, especially in this day and age!

@@jimmytmoto I'm located in Perth, western Australia. It's start of winter here, so the ground is perfect for riding and not too hot.
I have been watching your xt225 videos and getting some good setup tips.
Keep up with the good work
      Phil.

Nice video! At 65 I can no longer afford to crash after a life time of crashing, it takes way to long to get better. Heres hoping you heal quick and get to enjoy your summer!

Oh, man, I hear you Mike! When I'm riding I feel every bit of 25...but the crashes remind me I'm 56, right down to picking the bike up afterward! I'll definitely ease back into it and hope to avoid any setbacks. Steady as she goes...

I was absolutely soaked from sweating that day. Would have loved some lighter gear but ended up dressing for both the road and the trail and glad I did! And I think you've given me my new motto...Ride Safe(ish)! Ha!

With the 14Tooth sprocket what kind of top speeds can you get now? I just bought a 92 xt225 from my uncle, still gotta go pick it up in California but being a life long Harley man this is my first dual sport. Figured I’d use it around town and maybe up the highway for doc appts.

Hey TJ, I'm getting an indicated 77 mph top speed (which is probably more like 70 mph, actual). Funny thing, with the original 15t sprocket it was only the slightest bit faster because the bike had a harder time pulling that gearing. For me, personally, the 14t is the way to go!

What mic do you use? Or is it just the stock GoPro mic? I'd love to start motovlogging.

Hi Maverick, I'm actually using a separate recorder (Zoom H1) in my pocket with a lavalier mic in the helmet for this video - that's what gives the very best quality. Then in editing I have to match the recorder audio up to the camera's audio. It was a pain to do at first but I've gotten used to it. In the past I used the GoPro mic adapter with old earbuds, which I describe in this how-to video: ruclips.net/video/mVBAiu-O__w/видео.html . Unfortunately, the stock GoPro mic doesn't really pick up speaking very well. I hope this helps. Good luck!

@@jimmytmoto got it! I'll try the gopro-mic adapter first, and see how it works, but if not I'll try that. Thanks for the info, and I love the vids.

Thanks, Bryce, I really appreciate it! I'm actually feeling a little better every day but am aiming for 10-14 days, hoping that has me out of the woods on this.
