Ran across this vid doing some research. Just got my JoHan '71 and the Revell '70 'cudas in the mail an hour ago. I hope mine come out as nice as yours did. Thanks for showing.
The Sox & Martin '67 GTX is a great model to build too. I did mine in gloss white w/black interior. It looks great. I was working for Chrysler Parts when this car came out. It was my first real job.
Thanks! I have the Sox version 67 GTX. Have not built it and had sold it off a few times but one keeps landing in my lap. I have built the stock version and enjoyed it. So when the last collection I bought had the Sox version 67 GTX and the Sox version 70 Cuda (another one I had and traded off). I decided it was a sign and I kept them both.
@@TheMuscleCarModeler I have 118 1/24 and 1/25 unbuilt models, almost all sealed muscle cars with a few planes and a few opened but complete boxes. I;ll never build any of them now. I'm too old. What do you think they're worth and where could I sell them?
That is a hard question. Best bet is to sell them one by one on eBay. This will get you the most money but you have to inventory them, take good photos, be very descriptive and ship them. All this takes time. Other options is to sell them to a club or individual. If you contact someone who buys collections expect low ball offers. They are not going to take the time and inventory each one and negotiate on an individual kit. They are taking a gamble on the collection wanting to buy the good with the bad. But some will not buy if they find out you have already sold some. That tells them that the good ones are already gone and the junk is leftover.
They are beautiful. I love johan kits, because when I was about the same age I mowed grass for money, so I would always buy Johan kits, because they were $4 bucks compared to other kits that were $5 or more.
Thanks! I don't remember what I paid but I do remember a few yaers later when I was in high school seeing them advertised in Scale Auto mag for sale at $40 each. That made it harder for me to work on them. I wanted to do a good job on them. Now with eBay they are now easier to find!
sweet build 60 yrs old my first model @ age 5 was ohio george malco 33 whillis course dad helped w/the paint etc...but i digress great detail i built hawwian charger funny car and in the instructions to place distributor wires the firing order was for chevy not dodge haha glad that i caught it and by havin many a mopar and chevy it got done right just recently built a connie kallita 72 mustang funnycar took 4 mos to get it done still have to go back and add annodize paint on the fuel lines as i figured out how to cheat on the colors thanks for sharing knee deep in all my cars have so many time vs money hahaha love scooter d
Thanks! Here is a bit of trivia for you. Both Mopar and Chevy have the same firing order for the V8s. Both are 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2, but the Chevy distributor goes clockwise and the Dodge goes counter clockwise! I have a Chevelle with a small block and a Fury with a big block! 60s Fords are 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 and spin counter clockwise.
When you think about it in the "70's Pro Stock era, the cars were pretty much Factory/Stock . At least until Grumpy Jenkins changed everything when he bought out the tube frame Vega Nice build and some great historical information!
Same here. The colors really sold me on these cars. I have recently finished the Superbird and I also have the old MPC 72 Barracuda Sox & Martin one to build. May even do a 68 Cuda someday.
Nice vid. I grew up seeing these Sox & Martin cars on the track. They always stood out to me. Paint schemes might have had a lot to do with it along with them winning haha. Never knew about them messing with the wheel base. Someone figured out the importance of weight transfer I guess and then how to 'obey the rules' so to speak. Thanks for the vid and info. Real nice models.
Yes it did and back then I built them fast too. Had a lot of fun building them but the detail was bad as I did most painting after it was glued together.
I built this back in 2011. Don’t really remember the colors. I know I used Testor’s paints. The blue is olds engine blue, the red I think is Italian red but not sure. Testor’s model master has been discontinued though.
Great back story on this one and you did an amazing job on it !. I built the same a kit a couple of years back, but it's nowhere near as nice as yours, I did enjoy building it though. And that 70 ....wow !
These were built a few years back. You can see the difference in the clear from the 71 and the 70. The 70 has the automotive clear coat on it. Also Revell has since come out with the Sox & Martin version! I bought one and it looked great! Ended up trading it away to someone who really wanted it when the first run sold out!
Excellent builds and history lesson
Thanks!
Nice pair of Sox &Martin cars
Thank you!
Nice builds with quite adventurous history. Good job done, quite difficult painting required. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! It brings back some memories!
Love these 2 cars. I have a few. 👍
Right on!
Enjoying the videos. Glad I found your channel
Welcome aboard!
As always excellent job Raoul and your Sox & Martin Cuda's are sharp!
Many thanks!
Super deal! As usual a GR8. many thanx 👍
Thank you too!
I had this one in probably '72, always loved Johan kits as they were more realistically detailed.
Very cool!
Gorgeous!
Thank you! 😊

love to s/m cars thanks for the biulds
Glad you like them!
Damn, seriously clean and extremely bad ass build
Thank you!
They are gorgeous I have a couple Sox and Martin kits but I'm like you I have a hard time building race cars👍👍
Thank you! The hardest part in researching them is the point it time reference. The cept evolving from race to race! It was much worse for the GT40's!
Nice builds and a lot of great information on the Sox and Martin cudas
Thank you!
Thanks so much! I am building one now. You have given me an idea to try.
You’re welcome! Thanks!
Great video! I picked up at an estate sale a MPC Motown Missile semi-started (engine built) no paint, can't wait to built it
Nice score!
Nice job, Raoul. Don’t ever remember seeing this one in person.
Thanks. I built this one in 2011. My built ups don't get out much. They may make one club meeting and maybe a show.
The Sox and Martin team altered the wheelbase on many of there cars and did extensive work and these cars are so cool
Yes they did!
Very nice builds...man I wished I had bought more models
Thank you! I think we all wish that! I’m glad I bought what I could. Never thought some would never be seen again.
very cool looking builds sir
Thanks!
Sweet builds...
Thanks! Raoul.
Those are beautiful builds! 😁✌
Thank you! 😁
Sharp looking build buddy
Thanks! Big Charlie!
Very Nice
Thanks
They look great hope to build that kit thanks.
Enjoy it when you do build it!
Fantastic finish on these 2 Coda's. Great builds to have.
Thank You!
Great looking builds of the Cuda, thanks for sharing!....Bill
Glad you enjoyed them!
I think they looks great buddy.
Thanks! Raoul.

The Muscle Car Modeler I used to have all of the USA oldies and several flat boxes, but sold all of them on Ebay. I just have a few left .
Most of mine came from eBay! Only these three that I mentioned I was able to buy new. I remember a lot of kits being $5-$6 back then.

Love the 'Cudas nice work
Thanks!
The both of them are just gorgeous 👍👍 Ronnie was Mr. 4spd - the BOSS
Thanks! He was self proclaimed!

Nice build and some great historical information!
Thanks. Yes, lots of rule bending going on.
Both builds look awesome, :)
Thanks!
Good job on the models! 👍
Thanks Red!
They both look great. I did the GTX by Lindberg last year. Love the red, white and blue paint jobs. That was why I built it. Ron

Thank you!. You never know what you will learn when you start researching these cars!
Both of them are very NICE! I'm guessing a Sox & Martin Superbird will be up next!?
Thanks! I did finish that one in the last few years. It will get it's own Video.
That's about when I first started building in the mid eighties. Seemed like you had to save up the paper route money for a month to get a kit!
Yes it did and back then I built them fast too. Had a lot of fun building them but the detail was bad as I did most painting after it was glued together.
It looks awesome I recently purchased one and I wondered what colors you used to paint it

@@TheMuscleCarModeler that’s cool looks great man! You do awesome work I follow and watch all the time 👍🏻
Would love to hear about how you masked for the paint job. I assume you clear coated the masking tape to prevent bleeding?
No clear coat. Started with white. Masked and did the red sections. Then did the roof in blue. Last I did the blue stripes on front and back.
Great back story on this one and you did an amazing job on it !.

right I love this cars I build a lot of Dick Landy`s and Bill Jenkins cars there on my channel
I saw that you do a lot of race cars!
i was thinking of building the Christine model but the only thing is its only a single 4 barrel the car in the movie had dual quads
I'm not sure what model would have the correct intake set up for that one.
