The Regrettes, "I Dare You" - Skyline Sessions

- If there's a kind of signature rock-and-roll sound that Los Angeles inspires, it might be something like the sun-soaked, fuzzy garage-pop of The Regrettes, a young, ascendant band that also takes inspiration from '60s girl groups and riot-grrrl punk. The band's recurring themes are empowerment and self-worth, especially when navigating romantic relationships, which is the primary focus of the group's new album How Do You Love?, a set of songs chronicling different stages of a love affair. While in Houston for a sold-out concert, the band visited Skyline Sessions to record the songs "I Dare You" and "Pumpkin," both from the new album, which will be released on Friday, August 9.

I love how the girls' guitars match their hair
And the drummer's matches the cymbals!
@@shortbusdriver83 wait omg yess
@@colton6742 Yes. Also known as a bass guitar. As opposed to a double bass or stand up bass.
@@colton6742 4 strings. Easy to see. If nothing else count the tuning pegs. And that is a bass guitar. You can wear it and it functions as a strumming bass instrument. If it was a stand up bass it would function similarly, but be on a peg, and would not have frets.
Adjacent yep, as a bassist i refer it as a guitar 😂 creates less conflict i find
how can a group be THAT attractive
I KNOW RIGHT
these are four coolest people on the planet
The Regrettes are proof that rock'n'roll will never die
the audio mixing here could’ve been better
You mean I'm not supposed to be able to hear someone plug something in at 2:01?
The combination of guitar, bass, drums, and vocals is so amazing
ALL four are on their game. THIS is a band!!!!!!!
They are all pretty tight in their timings. I personally enjoyed this performance!

Strokes
I’ve always said this song reminds me a lot of the strokes, it sounds like a mix of last nite and someday.
Julian Casablancas helped in the writing of it.
Totally. I knew that I knew that sound.
When Weezer and the Strokes had a female baby the Regrettes were formed.
And pop rock dubbed it as good.
Real fuckin good.
fs
That's the most accurate description of this band I could think of. Nice one
Gosh i want to finally meet them in cologne
MY BABIES
okay but she sounds VERY different live
The inexperience really shows
G she usually sounds better than this
95% of artists sound terrible without being in a recording studio, but only few hold their ground to their trully gifted voice
Lucio Rodriguez unfortunately i must agree with that statement. It’s too bad
@@maximilianoibarra3507 Lemon Twigs (if you have heard of them) are exactly the same live and on recording
Yeah man.
Its happening
My loves
Brooke ❤❤❤
Estoy enamorado de la vocalista 🥰 moriré enamorado
The strokes and Tom Petty School: The Regrettes🖤

I want literally all of their instruments and all of them as my gf/bf
And that’s on bisexuality
Hi i'm just wanna see them :( but i'm south american and THIS NEVER WILL HAPPEN :(
Genesa is so cute ilove when she twrils her hand around
Punk punk 💪💪👍
A new bassist?
I have to say that this not their best performance. I mean, I love it, but I’m kinda a fanboy at this point, so my opinion is suspect . I imagine that it is 8:00 in the morning after or maybe the day of one of their shows in Houston. I give them credit for doing all of the publicity that that they do. And to everyone who are ragging on the sound, it is a public radio station. The sound guy is an intern from the local university.
Thank you for your comment. The sound engineer is a professional who has won a Peabody Award.
@@SkylineSessions I apologize for besmirching the engineer’s credentials. My comment was more about the band’s lackluster performance, and I truly adore this band. It just wasn’t their best for whatever reason. I listen to KUHF probably 25 hours a week and respect the people who provide all of the great content that they give us everyday. I’m sorry for my comment.
the guitarist Genessa is so cute
SO good! If you're a fan of The Regrettes, check out
Ted Duchamp - Coke Float! xx
Why is her voice so different in the live version
doppelmoppel really?
@@falsealarms yeah
We can put the blue thumb on only once, it's not normal

Guitars hair
Listen
the bass player looks kinda like george omalley from greys anatomy
The lead singer looks a bit misha barton
she sang much better before
this is what it sound like when you try to make a song that sounds like the strokes but you aren't nearly as good
Good group but needs a better drummer IMO.
Sooooooooooooo mediocre !
very true, how is it so different from the live?
I wouldn't call it mediocre, but it was definitely a weak live performance. I've seen them live twice, and it was a better than what was seen here.
Maybe just reserved, different...
