Training A British Short Hair Cat to Hunt

It can be a bit challenging to keep our indoor cats active. We started training our indoor cats starting with Mako to hunt using a fake cockroach tied to a jute rope. At first Mako was not used to it and was just looking at it but eventually engaged with playing.
It is a great way to stimulate their natural instincts and provide mental and physical enrichment. Through gradual introduction and positive reinforcement, the cat can learn to pounce, stalk, and engage in simulated hunting behaviors, satisfying their innate predatory desires. By incorporating play sessions with the fake cockroach, owners can help their indoor feline companions maintain a healthy level of activity and mental stimulation while safely indoors, mimicking the thrill of the hunt in a controlled environment.
