If you have a stereo track and you use the pan knob to push it left, FL takes both the left and right and pushes them left, together. If you only wanted the left, you would use stereo separation, 100% counterclockwise. If you have a mono track, pushing it left and right will not have this problem. The problem occurs when you have a stereo track and you’re panning it. You need stereo separation in order to have the pan knob function like a traditional balance knob.
Much appreciated for the video I actually learn from your videos thank you bro beatz, would you do a video on how to you the eq in the bottom right corner when you open the mixer in fl ? The little box with the three faders
Would panning mono channels opposed to stereo channels sound better? What would be the sound quality difference using stereo separation on all mono tracks/channels vs stereo tracks/channels?
When I pan all the way to the right or left on one side I can hear it ( but it sounds mono) and the other sides quiet 🤷🏽♂️ Am I doing something wrong??? Also is there a way to pan to one side only so the other side you hear nothing?? Pls help 🙏
That's what panning is ... If you pan a sound all the way left for example You're essentially saying you only want it to play on the left side.... What results are you trying to achieve?
Vocal should be in the center of the mix but not in mono. Main vocal put in the center, and two others about 75% left and 75% right, basically don't touch stereo separation knob. You can also play with the volume of those to get better results. Try to use autotune just on that one in the center and the others two leave without it. The same with delay and reverb, put for example more delay on those two panned and that should sound interesting
Mixing in mono is stupid too because once you take it out of mono, it will sound way different than to what it was set to in mono so youre gonna have to mix it back again in stereo anyways, u should just check mono periodically not mix entirely in
All melodies in the center of the mix might messing with each other. For example if you have two high pitched melodies it's better to put one on 15% left and the second on 15% right
@@gaymanisfree I guess I'm just getting confused with the Stereo Combined panner and the Stereo Balance panner in Cubase and the whole phantom mono stuff. The Balance Panner only really turns down either side of the channel while Combined Panner feeds one side's signal to the other in Cubase. my fault

Should be mixing vocals, bass drum and snare in mono IMOH
Wait really? I always thought that vocals should be like... More in the track so it all sounds more even. I'll remember this advice though.
@@JaykaverseBacking vocals can be left or right, but never totally in center (mono)
Well I have 13 sounds I'd like to pan
this video title is the only reason i clicked on it lmao
wow such a great tutorial on panning, I totally get it now. Thank you!

A banger as always
LCR is key, you cna also pan hard left or right
Why are there barely any omments?
how would one turn on/off the accessibility to the mono and stereo knobs on the mixer? I’m on FL 20 and it does show those buttons

Be careful with the stereo separation, because it can cause phase issues, try to mix in mono so you can prevent it.

No, you first listen to it on mono to see if theres any cancelation. If not, then swap back to stereo@@LouisTaci

What's the difference between the knobs on the top and the knobs on the bottom?
The tops are for panning and the bottom are for stereo widening
the knob on the top is above the knob on the bottom. Just messin witcha
@@jamalcole1985 True man I definitely agree, the one above is definitely higher than the one on the bottom

whats an arp
Arpeggio...a sequence of notes in a particular key, going up and down a particular scale
you didn't mention stereo panning vs mono panning
You need at least two channels for stereo and you can only pan in stereo. There is no such thing as mono pan.
