Highly recommend body scans for people that struggle with sleep 🙏 I'm ADHDer with chronic insomnia and no matter how busy my brain is, when I put on frequency music and body scan trying to astral project, I only ever get to my thighs/waist before I pass out. Every time. 😆

i used to take care of a property, cutting down trees and making firewood. the whole process took an entire day, but i was able to use that as a meditative experience. it was kind of amazing. especially being in nature, working with nature, etc.... also, i'm bipolar, so i think the extra effort of labor helped to align the mind. i also had a fire for the small bits, so i had fire, smoke, and trees guiding me on my path.

I highly recommend meditating in the morning not long after waking up. The mind is much calmer and cleared, compared to a time like right after work.
Getting a decent amount of sleep, and limiting screen time before sleep does help as well with morning meditations. If there are days where you would really prefer to avoid noisy distractions, then I would recommend ear plugs.
Thanks Ivy, for your thorough video!

I'm currently struggling with long COVID and in cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation. The nurses there suggested meditation with breath work for me and I have to say, it's been really helpful in my recovery (this is not medical advice). I can use the breath work during my rehab exercises and I see the results in my blood pressure and heart rate. I've been using a different style of meditation for a while now and really enjoy mixing it up now. Happy meditating everyone!

To the question about being scared of letting go during meditation due to anxiety and panic attacks background, I have some experience with that. I still haven’t completely overcome this but I made a lot of progress. Beyond therapy for anxiety and panic attacks, and cultivating a sense of safety, for me baby steps were crucial. When something „scary“ would happen, I would pause for just couple of seconds with the mindset of „what if I actually waited and saw if I’m safe or in danger for just one additional moment?“. This practice helped me move out of my comfort zone slowly and carefully and gain trust and confidence progressively.

I'm so glad you made this video! My therapist started me on meditation a couple months ago to deal with the overwhelm life brought my way with my husband's stage IV cancer diagnosis and suddenly he is on perm. disability and then my employer shipped my job to India. Shortly later, both my father and his mother were hospitalized (both are out and doing fine now), then to find out my hubby's health insurance had gotten canceled and we didn't know it and got slammed with 6 months of hospital bills that are more than what I would make in 5 lifetimes. I was dealing with so much stress I went into shock. Meditation and journaling brought me back from the brink of insanity and I'm doing so much better and am much more stable now. This video is so enlightening. Thank you for taking the time and effort to make this ! Love you and your content!

One thing I like to do when I meditate is manipulate my senses. I wear a blindfold, have a specific insense, and use my headphones along with the specific wave hz im listening to, to fully engulf myself in my meditation.

I put off watching this video because every guide to meditation I have ever watched/read/listened to had such a heavy focus on visulization, and as someone with aphantasia that just wasn't going to help me much. I should have known that Ivy would have the backs of all us neuro-spicy folk out here.
I'm so incredibly thankful for your content, and you ability to easily include adaptations to your lessons for everyone. Body scans and mindfulness meditations have been so beneficial to me and my meditation practice. I'm a hard 5 on the visualization scale and have tried for years to improve my abillity and have never gotten any where. I appreciate your comments on it may be possible, but it may not and that's entirely ok. I have been practicing for many years now, and the only time lack of visualization has been a problem was when I told myself it would be.

I would say that even better than recording a guided meditation in your own voice to play back is to have a loved one record it. I know a LOT of people who absolutely hate the sound of their own voice.

I have Aphantasia and I find I can drop very deeply and quickly into meditation because I don’t have distracting images in my mind. When I listen to a guided visualization meditation, I just have this sense of knowing/feeling instead of seeing the visualizations in my head. Great video, by the way! Thank you.

I have now watched the entire video, and I just wanted to say, thank you for all the advice and guidance you've given us. It honestly means so much and is a great starting point ♥ I have gotten a lot of ideas personally on how to switch up my meditation practice and start working on blocks.
You saying that you do unguided visualization meditations made me finally feel allowed to do them :) I used to think that doing those were just daydreaming and not real. That following a guided meditation by someone else was more real, than to listen to my own intution. I have been doing guided meditations for months now and although they are nice to do before bed to relax and fall asleep faster. They are far too restricting when I want to connect with my spirit guides.
So, after today. I am going to start slowly building up my meditation practice in a new direction where I go on my own journey and see where it takes me. I already have a place within my mind that I always return to. My own inner realm or whatever you'd like to call it, it's actually an entire island lol
I feel like I have gotten permisson to actually explore it now, so thank you!

37:18 for me the visual i see is abstract, in that i see a big red splotch and small green splotch. it’s not outlined or shaded, and the shape is rough (it has shape enough to be different from a tomato but isn’t a strict same shape). i also mainly feel that it is what it is without fully constructing it, it’s hard to express into words but it’s a strong sense of emotion i believe.

I'm not finished watching your video yet 😅 . I know you said you haven’t covered all types of meditations but I thought I'd mention 2 that could be helpful to occult practitioners. One is drawing down energy and circulating it in your body. I've practiced 2 forms: one where the energy comes from opening chakras and the other where "high frequency" energy is channeled from spirit entities. Both forms came from a healing tradition where the purpose was to increase the quality of your energy to make the healing more effective. Of course in these traditions the meditation doesn’t stand alone, there is a whole program of practices included to ensure you're not harming yourself and screwing up your life. I mention it because perhaps if you cultivate your own energy, you might not need to rely on the energy of other beings and entities. The second type is where you focus on a part of your body to either develop it (like the pineal gland) or because it is a portal into the void.

this is such an amazing and informative video! i really love that you made a whole section to talk about how neurodivergent minds may experience meditation differently, it made me feel very comfortable in your channel which is why i feel i could ask some questions. i always feel like my neruodivergent (and traumatized) mind is working against me when i try to meditate. i have aphantasia, i experience intursive thoughts, i also relate to the panic of letting go of control, and it is simply a painful experience for me to be mindful at any given moment because my mind thinks it needs to keep me in a dissociative state to keep me safe even tho that is no longer the case. so i was wondering where does 'dissociation' fit in with the states of consciousness? it is not a state where i feel ''present'' like you described beta, but i don't feel relaxed or in tune either like i assume alpha is supposed to be. it is a version of autopilot where i am programmed to overthink and criticize all my thoughts while not being aware of what is going on outside of my mind, even in my body. what brainwaves does that fit into? also should i be scared of reinforcing going deeper in there when i try to meditate? (also to take some pressure off of answering this question, i am in therapy and will discuss any advice you may give with my therapist before implementing. i just wonder what input you may have) thanks in advance if you decide you could have things to say about this! 🌻

Thank you for discussing neurodivergence in this video Ivy - my daughter is being assessed for autism and it's something my husband and I have been deep into learning about for years now - it's been almost three years since the process began and I've known something was different since she was three and she's 8 now - I think both hubby and i may be on the spectrum also but diagnosis was different when we were young. Anyhoo... it's so helpful to have all these points in one place. I am the same for meditating lying down - I just get way more distracted by my back and neck niggles and pain if I'm seated; so I lie down on my back to avoid falling asleep I differentiate it by lying on top of the bed covers with a separate blanket and I place a cushion below my knees so my back is comfortable and as I never sleep like that, my brain understands it's a different thing. Plus all the ritual around the meditation with setting the ambiance with the incense, candles, lighting etc.. it really helps.. and the noise thing 😂 we live in a rural area but with lots of other houses and new builds so there are tonnes of children and families so even if my kids are at school and I take some time to meditate with a quiet house, there was often sounds of houses being built when we first moved in and now a playground close by it's babies and toddlers crying 😣 it's actually been interesting recently because I'm working on a lot on womb healing and since having kids the sounds of children crying has been quite triggering for me; part of that very much involves how my daughter came into the world and there's ancestral trauma there too - so there was one meditation recently when I was deep in the womb space and the sound of a crying toddler frightened me so much and brought me to tears in the meditation - it served to shift some blocked energy right there in the depths - it was really powerful - so lol 😜even the most annoying sounds can actually enhance some meditations. 😂 omgsh the longest essay comment ever! haha. Great video as always. 🙏 blessings lovely Xx

Is it ok that I meditate while having music playing in the background? I'm neurodivergent and the only way I've been able to meditate is with music. Music is a large part of my practice and I use it during rituals and spells. I always listen to the same music everytime as it gets me in a trance-like state. And I'm not consciously listening to the music, it's more of just a background noise and the music I listen to has this energy to it that helps me to be in an altered state of mind.

Also, I've found mantra to be a nice way to do breath work without thinking of it as breath work. Certain words or sounds will shorten or extend breath. it also helped me because I was able to concentrate on the sounds which I was making as well as listening to making kind of a feedback loop.

No excuses but...I have 2 things working against me that I need to figure out. One...I get up at the crack of stupid for work and have no time in the mornings. Two...I have restless leg syndrome so, later in the evening when I am more tired, meditation becomes virtually impossible because the more tired you are the worse RLS becomes. This is gonna take some thinking and experimenting.

Is transcendental meditation (TM) still exclusive? Last time I checked it was very expensive and you aren't trained for it without paying first and paying for your own secret mantra. I was interested in it a while ago but was sad that it was so exclusive. It seemed like there was something next level about it unless that was just effective marketing.

Hi this is all so interesting your videos are great! Often if i have a nap early afternoon because i do shift work i wake up but it takes me a couple minutes probably to realize im not actually awake its weird i try to prove im awake by lifting my arm or rolling and it feels lie a have but i haven't and cant and then i think to myself your not awake yet go back to sleep. is that Theta? also when i was little i could control my dreams and remember to ask Peter pan questions id thought of during the day lol! now all i can do is make my self aware im in a nightmare and force myself awake by what feels like violently thrashing my neck to both sides. terrifyingly my son can astral travel he started at 13 he just does it.he gets forced to go places (sometimes he chooses but get pulled back) angels save him he kills people i cant even tell you all the stuff hes told me its wild hes even dragged his best friend in to a realm is that possible? he didn't know hed actually taken him on the trip but his mate knew they were in a car that my son looked at the day before that my son didnt tell him about. Anyway ive begged him to look at the how to lessons as hes gone to full power without learning to protect himself but hes 19 he says he can kill all the demons i don't now enough yet to know if thats true until i was about 12 i had the ability to change my dreams and would be able to resume them if i woke up. but this id hes got something its not just the astral travelling he has other abilities i don't know what to do. im sorry im posting this in the meditation comments too i need to know if what he can do is common he said hes been pulled to hell and riped up by and angel and the evil angels are beautiful men and the good ones are ugly and not really human looking. theres just so much more and faceless people black markets. but this isnt his only ability. im hoping to get competent in Ancestor magic to get advice. i told him hell have a spirit guide he reckons he hasnt met him

Oh yes, there are many other types of meditations you can do rather than just the sit down method! ☺️

Ivy, I’d like to know if you have any thoughts or opinions on the use of psilocybin for meditation? I have been using it almost a year now and have had healing affects for my anxiety. My doctor is aware of this as well.

What are your thoughts about sobriety during meditation? I've heard about studies using psychedelics with psychotherapy for trauma but there's not a lot of literature on it. I've been told by other occultists they like to be sober during meditation or rituals but haven't done much research on it myself.

I had a random question do I have to use pentacles for the symbol in ritual? I have severe dyscalculia (it is a math thing but I aslo have bad directional and spatial skills so I have to label all the rooms with directions) and I have to relearn how to draw this symbol everyime (I am sure I will end up drawing it in the air very wrong) and it confuses me immensely so it's adding tremendous stress plus it is not even a symbol that speaks to me so it just seems weird to go through so much stress.

I think I have moments during meditation or visualization that I slip into alpha but it doesn’t last long. I’m not sure how to maintain it while I’m trying to do spellwork. Like when I end my meditation beforehand, I’m too lucid to be in alpha while I’m doing spellwork. Not sure how to overcome this.

PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK I CAN TELL YOUR"E NOT A FRAUD
terrifyingly my son can astral travel he started at 13 he just does it.he gets forced to go places (sometimes he chooses but get pulled back) angels save him he kills people i cant even tell you all the stuff hes told me its wild hes even dragged his best friend in to a realm is that possible? he didn't know hed actually taken him on the trip but his mate knew they were in a car that my son looked at the day before that my son didnt tell him about. Anyway ive begged him to look at the how to lessons as hes gone to full power without learning to protect himself but hes 19 he says he can kill all the demons i don't now enough yet to know if thats true until i was about 12 i had the ability to change my dreams and would be able to resume them if i woke up. but this id hes got something its not just the astral travelling he has other abilities i don't know what to do. im sorry im posting this in the meditation comments too i need to know if what he can do is common he said hes been pulled to hell and riped up by and angel and the evil angels are beautiful men and the good ones are ugly and not really human looking. theres just so much more and faceless people black markets. but this isnt his only ability. im hoping to get competent in Ancestor magic to get advice. i told him hell have a spirit guide he reckons he hasnt met him. when he doesnt travel he wakes with massive headaches
