  • Author Jon Finkel interviewed a couple hundred people in order to write his new book, “Macho Man: Dig It! The Untamed, Unbelievable Life of Randy Savage.” And of course that included Randy’s brother, Lanny Poffo! Jon recounts how he tracked down Lanny, the first conversation they had, and the subsequent hours they spent speaking about Randy before Lanny’s passing in February of 2023. Jon has stories about Randy’s childhood, his journey to becoming a professional baseball player, the circumstances that led to the launch of his pro wrestling career, and what it was like for Randy and Lanny to work and train under their pro wrestler father, Angelo Poffo as part of the family’s ICW promotion. He has details about the Poffo family’s time working for Jerry Lawler in Memphis, Randy’s early days at WCW, his feud with Hulk Hogan, his WrestleMania match against Ricky Steamboat, his WWE days with Vince McMahon, and his real-life love story with Miss Elizabeth. Jon also talks about Randy’s untimely death and the touching memorial that lives on at the site of his tragic car accident.

I love hearing the stories of Macho Man, the baseball player. To see how many avenues some wrestlers have now days, there's no telling whi could have been big outside the business in the heyday.

If you ask Hulk Hogan it was him that was in the Cincinnati Reds organization, not Randy.

Hey y2j, don't let ppl like cornette get under your bark. He's into guys with no charisma like Austin theory, or he loves the rock who actually only had about a 9 year career. Nobody has had a longer active and high flying enough career as y2j. Cornette is under pressure to constantly try to find negatives in aew. He's like a WWE fanboy. Wwes roster isn't that appealing anymore since they axed riddle and lost too many guys to aew. Watch your back for Big Bill. Please bring back Enzo Amore, or maybe he'd go back to WWE. Enzo was awesome
