    Forrest and his channel DIY Waterworld was the first boat repair channel I ever watched. It's a riot that he takes his projects over to the Bahamas and back. Keep up the roadside boat shopping; I enjoy it!

      Thank you so much mark! Unfortunately the floor is pretty fubar. Has to come out completely. But, it’s a small boat so shouldn’t be THAT bad. (Every time I say that it’s worse than I thought) 🤣

    It's great to see Forest is alive and well! That is a sexy boat! I know you're thinking of repowering but the motor looks like it's mounted a little high, have you considered a jack plate to raise/lower it? It's a skinny water boat, so that explains some of the reason to mount it a little bit high, but as it sits you're giving up a lot of stability and power on your way to/from the skinny water.

    • @perfectfitboating
      @perfectfitboating  9 месяцев назад

      Yes! Forrest is alive and thriving! He’s got projects coming up to share with everyone.
      The motor was mounted just to get her back to Miami. We’re taking it off so we can paint her and then mount her correctly. We’re both new to skinny water boats so we have to learn all of that info in regard to mounting heights and jack plates so thank you for sharing that! Thank you so much for commenting! 🤙

    That hull design, especially the topside is very similar to a brand that was called Skinnywater. The rear deadrise is a little more than the Skinnywater, but everything else is close. Maybe Zebra bought the mold, or vice-versa. Cool little skiff you got there. Have fun with her.

      Hmm never heard of skinny water before I’ll have to check it out! There’s almost no info on them anywhere! 3 posts online on forums and that’s it. All I know about them is they made a 16 and 18’ and the 16 had two caps, this one and a racing cap. And supposedly does 60+ with a 115 😳. Either way, it’ll be fun! Thanks for the comment! 🤙

    I noticed toward the end of the video, the motor was sitting high on the transom. The hooks looked to be about an inch off the transom. I couldn’t tell because the motor was tilted but how is the prop in relation to the bottom of the boat? My Checkmate has a 25” transom and I have a long shaft but my lower unit is about an inch too high. Have not tried it yet so don’t know about performance.

    • @perfectfitboating
      @perfectfitboating  9 месяцев назад

      Hey Steve! Thanks for the comment! Youre right. We actually just put the motor on to get it home. I have to take it off so I can paint it. It’s on the third hole and it should be on the 2nd or first. Good eye! 🤙

    Impeller on that motor is weak. Needs to be replaced. I have the same motor and even on the muffs it instantly pisses water with a strong stream. It’s also common to have degraded wires on it. It will start and run but once underway it will have issues. The motor side wires were not tinned for a few years on those so they degrade.

    • @perfectfitboating
      @perfectfitboating  9 месяцев назад +3

      Well definitely go over it and replace all the basics like the impeller plugs and rebuilt the carbs. Hopefully the wires aren’t too bad. I’ll do an update on it though! Thanks for commenting! 🤙

    What’s the longevity of those straps constantly getting dunked in salt water?

    • @perfectfitboating
      @perfectfitboating  9 месяцев назад

      That’s a good question. We’ll find out soon enough though! It’s all stainless but we know there’s different caliber of steel so. We’ll do an update on it once we start getting her in the water! 🤙

    DO NOT CUT THE SEA DECK!!! Remove the deck by cutting along the full length of the outside edge of the sea deck (along groves in padding) and remove the sea deck attached to the fiberglass skin. You should be able to save most of it unless the deck is just wood. If it is glass over wood and wood is rotted out the skin will come up pretty easily. Even cutting sections out will maybe save some of it. When redoing wood below deck you can epoxy the outer skin (using either block or water tanks to hold down glass panels in sections) back down to the new wood deck. Just a suggestion to TRY. If the glass deck does not come up easily then might have to rip up the Sea Deck.
    Nice project and will be WAY easier to tow, unload and reload at ramp. MUCH less to run fuel wise.
    Also SUGGEST pressure test the tank when decks removed. Remove and Block or plug off fill and vent put 3-4 lbs of air in tank and let sit for a day see if it loses pressure. Do NOT overpressure…..This will verify integrity of tank. KEEP OUT of SUN WHILE TESTING.
    Good luck, look forward to videos and progress with this boat.

    • @bjkgaffmaster
      @bjkgaffmaster 9 месяцев назад +1

      Also get the fuel filter OUT OF THE battery switch and wiring area…..keeping it there in an enclosed hatch place will not be good.
      Better to move and mount it to the motor-well area so when changing filter all the gas and fumes will be on outside of boat and not in an enclosed area or space.

    • @perfectfitboating
      @perfectfitboating  9 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you so much! That’s a great idea and at the very least we can TRY to save the sea deck. It’s just so nice, it’ll be a shame to ruin it. Good call on the tank too. We’ll have to pressure test it.
      Also, now that we can reconfigure alot of things we can move the fuel filter as you suggested. Thank you so much for the suggestions Capt.! 🤙
