Was just down at Pinehurst. What an amazing Golf Complex. Played No. 5. Pinehurst No 2 looked amazing. Ended up playing Pine Needles. It was the nicest and my favorite course I have ever played. Loved it. Great stuff
Pinehurst is incredible! We walked #2, played the new #10 and loved playing at the Cradle...and our rooms and food at the Carolina Hotel were top notch!
There was a nice lighted par 3 course built by me 35 years ago. It lasted about a year before going belly up. Once the newness wore off, golfers went back to regular golf courses.
I play RiverPines in Roswell, Georgia. Love It. During the summer, I get there early and get 9-18 holes in before it gets too hot. Only $15 senior rate. Great way to sharpen my short game. Nearly all the holes are very short, so I improvise and make some of them longer. The management has been paying better attention to maintainance, so it's now in fairly good condition. Only downside is the lack of fixing ball marks by the doofus's. I try to compensate by fixing a bunch of ball marks each hole. This par 3 is my little secret, but now you've managed to mess that up. 😅
There are several six hole par 3 courses here in Western Michigan. I have played one of them many times with my grandson and enjoyed every minute. Any short course is a great place to start and learn the game. I would like to see every course have a tee box on every hole so you could play the hole as a par 3 if you so desired. Would add another possible challenge to the game and could be used for a "quick round" in the evening.
Hello guys, the par 3 Greenville SC designed by George Cobb (who designed the par 3 at Augusta National), is a good challenge and very much worth playing. Check it out. I was the pro there in the early 60’s. Regards, Richard Bullard Taylors SC
In Canada we have a lot of "Executive Courses" which are mostly Par 3 courses with the sometimes the odd short par 4. Often they are only 9 holes courses. Are Par 3's an entirely different concept?
Agreed. There is no growing the game. It is organic and self driven by individuals. Developers only build golf courses to sell houses. If they build par 3 courses they fail over time and then end up getting developed anyway. Promoting it with stuff like this and "first tee" make little to no difference. Top golf and simulators are not golf. They are near golf. Par 3 golf is novelty golf. But good for kids and old people. I cant be bothered to play par 3... and I am an old man.

Never thought of it, but that makes a lot of sense to add a par 3 tee box or tee markers in the fairway to every hole. Great idea on your part.👍
appreciate your thoughts and the watch!!
love that Mike...always fun thank you
The Lights at Indio. Operated by the City of Indio, CA. Great par 3 under lights.
