Got a lot of respect for Millwall fans, especially their away ones, everywhere they go the locals come out to try and build their own reps with the normal Millwall fans on the end of it. As a Swansea fan I've been to Millwall several times and only ever seen trouble once (if you can call fans invading the pitch at FT in there last home game trouble)
A few years ago I was stood outside the Havester outside the Liberty having a pint with a few Millwall fans. Nicest bunch of lads you could hope to meet.
In all honesty I've seen more trouble between Bristol City and Swansea than Millwall and Swansea. (Bristol Police messed up big time back in 2019)
Bottom line is that you have good and bad where ever you go. 97% of fans just go to have a few pints, enjoy the game, have some banter then go home.

    • @damianheaven4786
      @damianheaven4786 Год назад

@@soulokeh61 that is achually rather funny cause I have often asked myself the exact same question.
I've heard several stories bout not just Millwall but Leeds United, Westham United all bout there history with football related violence and yet I've seen nothing in person.
There was some minor trouble apparently between Swansea and Millwall fans several years ago at the Liberty I believe both teams were in L1 at the time but I didn't see anything.
So yeah I've even asked myself have these supporters gone soft or is it simply the fact that it's so much harder to get away with these days?

I travel all over and to be honest if you want trouble you really have to go and find it/cause it. The away end at Millwall is about as safe as you can get. There's even a safe route to the station. The only trouble I've had going to Millwall as an away fan is the police getting heavy handed and even that back fired. For the record Millwall fans create more atmosphere than most and genuinely intimidate the opposition/officials.

As a Stoke fan who has lived and worked down in South Bermondsey I have nothing but respect for Millwall.
These guys were built on reputation and its their town like. You go down after aggro and it won't be long until you find it. I found that if your alrght with them they you get the same respect back like most clubs.
I mean 20 odd years ago I would come off South Bermondsey train station and Monday mornings you would find burnt out cars and god knows what. Can't say I ever felt intimidated though living there even on the Old Kent Road. Growing up on a rough estate in Stoke I kind of knew the basics and built it up from there.
I would rather have people you can trust no matter what than these wealthy neighbour types who you rarely even see.

I went with Reading in August this season, definitely toned down in recent times, think a lot of the old boys are either on banning orders or just bored of it now. Even for Reading being a fairly mild club when it comes to fan violence there was no real threat from Millwall fans at all. Bare in mind there were train strikes at South Bermondsey this day so all the Reading fans came from Surrey Quays station where a lot of the Millwall pubs are, even walked back to the station with a load of Millwall fans, still no intent on violence..

Mike, there's a good argument nowadays that Millwall is possibly the safest ground in the country. If you time it right the Police will put you on a visitors train from London Bridge and a swift right turn out of South Bermondsey station into the caged walkway (nicknamed 'Cowards Way') straight into the visitors end, and the reverse after the game. Even then plenty of visiting fans go on regular trains and are easy to pick out, and I regularly see visiting fans in the club shop, and I can't remember the last time I saw any real trouble at Millwall, or away for that matter. Loads of those up for trouble are too old, banged up, or on banning orders. Some Everton turned up (well after kick off) in the Cup a few seasons back escorted by Police a mile or two from the ground for some reason, and even then a load of Millwall youth gave them as good as they got (one of the visitors was left with a permanent reminder of the day he gave it large at Millwall), but just turning up now constitutes a 'result' at Millwall in modern parlance. It is a very rough area, but like loads of teams nowadays people don't follow Millwall to cause trouble, but if threatened there are many who will defend themselves, but that's life.
Good luck to BCFC the rest of the season, good bunch of fans and always have been, and hope all visiting fans have a good time at the Mecca of football that is the Den 👍

If you want trouble you'll get it. If you're a regular, everyday fan then no problem at all. Milwall hooligans are still very active; I know some of them. But they're only interested in other firms, not families enjoying the match. Just remember that there are lots of us, probably in our forties and fifties, who used to get stuck in week in week out, and still will depending upon the situation....COYL

Basically, if you come as an away fan and want to give it the biggun, don’t go to South Bermondsey and walk down cowards cage with all the other away fans. Instead, go to Surrey Quays like Everton did and see how far you get.
As for a neutral, the only thing I will say is don’t get your camera out and start taking loads of pictures and videos of the stand you’re in and videoing everyone (particularly if you find yourself in certain sections of the Dockers Stand). You might find you’ll get a reaction doing all that as someone recently discovered

I believe it was Reading at home this season but one fella had a camera and he was told to stop filming by someone in the upper Dockers but he carried on so then someone tried snatching the camera off him. Eventually stewards told him to move to another part of the Dockers and to put his camera away. Some people are unaware that things are done slightly differently at The Den compared to other places.

Well it wasn’t completely uneventful with what you caught of a few making a dash down the exit.
Few of the Bristol City coaches got pelted on the way out too but nothing to major.
Yet Millwall always had the potential to turn lethal in no time.
Visiting fans “Scarfers with replica shirts on” esp with kids of visiting smaller sides can usually walk to The Den from South Berm & be Okies.
Difference is -Those that come for trouble & to test themselves who make their way from Surrey Quays will very soon find it.
Should a group in casual clothes & caps walk through a nearby estate chanting “Yid Army” for example as Spurs once did. Rapidly all Hell will break loose.
Leeds lads have been on the receiving end of fists kicks & even escorted had all sorts of ammunition fired from 2 or 3 story’s up from fans in tower blocks.
Police then struggled to keep swarming Millwall supporters back from them.
Millwall supporters have & will come out their flats en mass to attack.
Everton is the most recent example.
For a big fixture Millwall fighters roam & they are everywhere & virtually everywhere around The Den is a damn dangerous place for visitors.
Saying that the area around Ashton Gate by the park when Cardiff & Leeds visit isn’t exactly saintly at all times is it?!?!?!
