“Sit down in the boat for minute and take a deep breath.” This is so important when things aren’t going well. I have had so many days, where i do just that and stand up with a new attitude or perspective and start whacking them. Great advice, Randy!

This is helpful, Randy. Thank you. Went out last Friday and caught several including a 7 pounder; went out this past Monday and didn’t get one bite in 4 hours. I feel like a rank amateur on days like that.

Great video Randy! I think sometimes people move out of a great spot because they fished it one bait and getting no bites they think its time to go. I have found that sometimes, like you said, a change up is in order. The fish are there, its just a matter of taking time to find out what they want. Good luck to you in the tournament!

Great advice. I recently located some fish on a secondary point, but could not get a bite. I moved the boat up on the shallow side of the point and started dragging a football jig uphill. At that point, I started catching them.

Good stuff Randy!! One thing I'd like to add is, when fishing points with fish on them, change angles. Instead of casting to the bank cast away from it or from the sides. Good Luck this weekend.

I usually run into that issue in the late fall and early spring here in the north. When that ice is just coming off, or about to start forming, it can be so hard to find a bite sometimes.

With a lot of thought on this, sometimes for whatever reason the fish will stage just outside the creeks. This doesn't happen every year but it does happen. I've seen them suspend in 10 over 20' like they're waiting on something to happen. Maybe in desperation give it a whirl.

Could trolling be a good way to find biting bass? It doesn't seem popular but it should work for suspended fish or schooling fish chasing bait. You could drag a couple or few different lures at the same time to see what works. I don't know, I'm a saltwater guy learning about freshwater.

Good video, but Randy does say one REALLY dumb thing..."bass fishing is the toughest sport in the world"...that is total nonsense. I get where he is coming from as a bass pro, but as a multispecies angler who has been at it since the 70s, bass is actually one of the easiest species to target. In fact, lots of times when other species are being difficult, I know I always have bass to fall back on as they are almost a guarantee to catch a few even on a tough day.

I disagree bass are one of the easier fish to catch. They aren't musky or flatheads. Also trolling is the best search method. It seems to me Grand lake needs help. If what you say is true. Here is one story about 20 years ago I was between outboard engines. I had a 14 flatbottom with a minnkota. I had 2 batteries. On calm nights I would head over to lake Geneva Wisconsin. Troll in one direction until the first battery got low. Switch em out and turn around. While I was launching a tournament was staging. They were nice enough. Friendly and offering helpful advice. But I just do what I can with my little boat and 2nd rate equipment. So I ended up running out of juice the same time the tournament ended ended. Found out 11 something lbs won it. I estimate that I caught 12 lbs of smallmouth alone. 2 twenty inch largemouth and a couple more legals. Plus walleye and a 36 inch northern pike. I know that you can't troll in a bass tournament. But it is the best search method. When the PWT came to my home water they sucked. I lost all respect for their skills. I imagine that the bass elite aren't all that either. I do like Randy's opinions and gripes. I know that he can't be to outspoken. Because he has sponsors. But he gets it. I wish him the best of luck. Livescopers not so much
