- I got my hands on the new 2024 Asus Strix G16 at CES 2024. The G16 keeps most of what was great about the 2023 model, but improves the laptop slightly with more options including a more budget-friendly one with a 13th gen Intel, 4060, and FHD+ 165Hz display, going all the way up to the 14900HX, RTX 4080 with a QHD+ 240Hz display. Not much has changed with its chassis including the fact that's certainly a thicker one so portability shouldn't be your primary focus when looking at this laptop. Here's a quick hands-on look at the new Asus Strix G16 from CES 2024!

Funny that I just bought the G16 2023 with the i9 13980HX and 4080 and it has 32GB of 5600 DDR5 (Samsung).
What was the price you have got it? Can you share full configuration?

Do you still get the coil whine on it or have they sorted it out?
Idk about others but personally I would like for larger laptops (16-18 inch) to have a thicker chassis that offers way more air flow to achieve better cooling. So what if the thing is bigger. I feel like most would take that trade off in a heartbeat if it meant better cooling. The ROG series has amazing thermals as is, but they could be better.
I loved the thickness of their older ROG models, i like em big and chunky. :D
"The same display as last year"? Doesn't this year's ROG Strix screen have twice the dimming zones (2048) compared to last year's screen (1024)? Or am I confusing it with some other Asus model?
Same display panel (for color gamut, number of pixels), but 2x more minled dimming zones, which is a separate back piece added to the display as backlight. Translates to more accurate light and dark zones, less bloom.

But does AMD. Offer similar performance in all areas? Also does it match core counts for multi core performace

@ GizmoSlipTechso i seen Best Buy has this same spec's except it has a RTX 4060 and 16GB of DDR5-5600MHz memory and 1TB of PCIe 4x4. same screen. its going for $1699. thats in my price range but not sure how good the RTX 4060 is. Or wait for a older model with a better GPU? Any info or advice would be great. Thank You

I’d buy previous 13th gen laptops at a discount if you want bang for your buck. Definitely true for thr Strix G16 until prices come down on new models

QHD+ 16:10 (2560 x 1600, WQXGA) only these models have perfect color settings.

I got a question for everyyone here. I'm currently in China and the versions they sell only comes with a Chinese Windows 11. So if I buy it, how big of a pain is it to reinstall an English version of windows and do I need to install all the other components like MyAsus and Armoury Crate in English again?

This laptop uses liquid metal, you also have to take care of the ventilation holes, if you don't take care of the equipment then it won't last.
