      It's a common result of an emotionally neglectful parent. the child becomes mature faster to replace their parent's function. I had the same situation, and although people do praise my intellectual maturity, my emotional maturity is very bad because I didn't get to be a vulnerable child ; it harms my relationships even now as an adult. We shouldn't ask children to be mature, that's the parent's job. I applaud her too, but wish she was innocent and happy.

      No, however, you don't go against your mother like this. You only get one and you just might need her one day. Was it really necessary to put her business out like that? The father was just as bad, however, I can understand him saying that because that supported his case.
      I would not care if my Mom slept with 10 men when I was younger. As an adult, I would never dime her out in public, on a show, or in a court room (I especially would not volunteer the information like this girl did). Now, I would not lie in court. Therefore, that would have only came out of my mouth if the judge had asked me.

      @@debrahill7911 I don't even think that the problem was her sleeping with multiple men but rather the fact that she does not accept her faults. She doesn't want to own her mistakes and the problems she caused to her daughter and husband. She is very narcissistic (probably due to some childhood issue).
      'I'm not a perfect mom, I never tried to be.' This is what came from her mouth. A normal mother would have never said this. It is pretty obvious now that she is very jealous of her own daughter.
      All I want to say is that she needs professional help.

    My mother is just like her. She's a narcissist, the only thing that she's mad about is that her daughter openly talked about the reality of what growing up with her was like and her reputation is at risk. That's the only thing she cares about.
    Listen to what she says, she's not saying that her daughter's lying, she's saying that she's degrading her by speaking about it publicly. Then she tries to make excuses for her behavior by claiming that she's not perfect and then goes into victimhood by bringing the attention on the fact that she didn't have a father and that she feels like her daughter is attacking her. I really hope that the daughter learns quickly that her mother is toxic and the only way to get peace is to stop talking to her and cut her out of her life.

She will need therapy and support. As a child raised by a narcissist myself, the realization that you can never heal that relationship is very painful. I literally had to let go those hopes for a perfect mother and daughter relationship... there was a mourning process i had to go trough.... there was the unearned feelings of guilt i had to free myself from, coz it was not my fault and there is nothing i could have done or said to mend that relationship....... and this child will have to go trough all this process too.

    My heart breaks for this beautiful young lady! Clearly her mother is a narcissistic. The mother is so self-centered and it's all about her, her feelings and how dare you embarrass me... When it's her own behavior that has embarrassed her she's just mad her daughter is talking about it which is typical narcissistic behavior. I really hope that some counselor sees this program and that this beautiful young lady can get some good counseling and learn how to distance yourself from such a toxic parent! I am so thankful that that man is her father. Sweetheart I truly wish you the very best because you certainly deserve it!

      breguet101 it’s obvious that mama uses her behavior and words to control the people in her life-narcissistic sociopath. You can tell by how shy and humble the daughter and father were towards her. judge Lake should know how to spot that narc behavior from a mile away. This was wrong and was very biased. Keep that same energy for all the deadbeats.

    Judge Lake really irritated me in this case. I don’t understand why she was so lenient on the mom. Pure hatred and anger was steaming off of her and she was speaking nonsense. The daughter was sweet, well spoken, and spoke her truth. That ‘mom’ isn’t a mother. She’s a coward and an angry person.

      I honestly don't think it would have served any purpose for judge like to confront her in this case. If she had it would have just made her act out and would have drawn attention away from the daughter and the results they were trying to get to. Sometimes saying nothing speaks volume in my opinion because she said nothing it was more evident to us how bad was the mom's behavior

    • @deijix
      @deijix 2 года назад +7

      I think she knew the mom was a narcissist and knew she’d be wasting her time and energy because trying to convince a narcissist to admit their wrongdoings and apologize is like trying to convince Mt. Everest to jump. They would rather kneel over and die than admit they were in the wrong.

    Judge: "But I have to commend you for coming back and standing here and at the very least addressing your daughter and saying no matter what king of humiliation I endure, I came here for you." But it doesn't sound like the mother was saying that at all. It sounds , like she was expecting to come there and just read the results and was mad when the girl brought her there and told her about her bad past behaviour. I wanted Judge Lake to call her out on that more.

      Yes, she certainly rephrased the mother's words in much softer tones. Seemingly on purpose because there was no mistaking the mother's sentiment. She was probably giving the mother the vocabulary expected to attempt a reconciliation but the mother was having none of it.
