  • Hello everyone! In this video I install a K&N air filter, a nice new exhaust, and I load an off-the-shelf tune to the Power Commander for my setup that ups the redline from 10,500rpm to 11,500rpm and boasts a gain of 13hp (above the stock 44hp) with the mods I have. 44+13= ...well, pretty close to 60! ;-) Let me know what you all think down in the comments! I'm also working on a review video where I'll do more riding and talk about how the bike feels and sounds with these new mods, I just ran into a small snag... so it may be a couple of weeks before I can finish it. Thanks for stopping by, everyone. Ride safe and have fun! (and stay cool! :-#)

    ***UPDATE: Since installing everything, I have run into a bit of a heat issue. The engine coolant temps seem to be maxing out when riding in the city or in stop-and-go traffic. It only seems to cool down at freeway speeds. I'm working on a couple of fixes, so I will have subsequent videos on those fixes soon. If you are thinking of doing these modifications to your bike, you may want to check those videos out first. If you are seeing this before I upload those videos: make sure to subscribe and hit the notification bell so that you get notified as soon as I upload those videos!

    180km/h 10200rpm with or without a tune. With raised speed limiter, the speed on display will show 202km/h at 11500rpm. 😊and then you need more power.

    If I were to buy an aftermarket ECU that I can tune, is that safe to do if you haven't altered anything in your engine like putting a race gasket on or putting stronger racier piston piston rings, coils Etc. Stock internals can handle the higher ram's okay.?

    • @FaerodynMoto
      @FaerodynMoto  Год назад +1

      Yes! They usually come with a minor off the shelf tune that just squeezes a little extra power out of the engine: even completely stock. They also open the bike up to things like quick shifters and power modes.

    Hello, does keeping the airbox open give a noticeable difference? Because some people saying opening it decreases the air compression into the engine because excess air escapes... I'm new to this modification so I don't know what to do... Would appreciate the help.

    • @FaerodynMoto
      @FaerodynMoto  9 месяцев назад +2

      Since opening the air box was the very first modification I made to the bike, I did not notice any performance change other than the sound. If you still use a filter and the correct bracket to hold the filter in place, there shouldn't be any air leaks or decrease in performance. In my research, I found that the length of the stock tube leading from the throttle body up to the air box itself was specifically designed to increase torque and that you should not replace it with a cone filter unless you don't mind losing some torque. Once you get an aftermarket exhaust (and a proper tune) then you should notice more of an increase in power having thr air box open than you would with the airbox still closed. Just make sure when you open the air box that you either cut the top off of the air box lid and still use the stock air box lid (like I did), or else get an aftermarket bracket that will still hold the filter in place and make a seal.

    I wonfery how much u can get the power increase if u replace the airbox inlet, it might just add some more power to your tune

    • @FaerodynMoto
      @FaerodynMoto  Год назад

      I did some research into replacing the stock air box with a simple cone filter to increase airflow into the engine. What I read is that the length of the stock intake stack leading up to the box was specifically designed to increase low-end engine torque. If it is replaced with a cone filter, the engine will gain a little more top end power but sacrifice the low end torque off the line. It was recommended not to do this, since the low end torque is where the 390 engine excels.

      On a more serious note: this wasn't a tune I found on a free chat forum. I actually purchased it from a reputable team that specializes in KTM's, so I feel confident that their claims weren't fallacious. Or, at least, not THAT fallacious. Haha but time will tell!

    • @LuisJimenez-ue7mr
      @LuisJimenez-ue7mr 3 года назад +2

      @@FaerodynMoto thanks for replying... I understand the tune.. but there are physical limits you can't bypass.. especially on a single cylinder... with the tune you're able to play around with timing and fuel... but can't make miracles... if you ask me, probably you can increase 5-6 horse power... to a max of 48-50hp.... but nothing beyond that... but it would be good if you can test your bike on a dyno and find out about the real number... of course you need to do a base run with no mods first under the exact same conditions to make it fair... if it does make 13hp more, please send me the link, I'll buy the tune immediately!!! • @Vadermoto
    @Vadermoto 7 месяцев назад +2

    Bro to push the claimed amount of power, you need to have different internals (basically a built engine) no way stock internals push that hard cuz you would damage the piston heads instantly. Also your headers are stock with the cat on so, its basically not 60hp shd be in the ballpark of 45-47hp at the wheel (50hp at crank).

    • @FaerodynMoto
      @FaerodynMoto  6 месяцев назад +2

      🤔 Hmmm... Makes sense, you could run into those kinds of problems on a car or truck if you heavily modify the power output on stock internals... Still, seems kind of weak for a bike that boasts "Ready To Race". I'd love to see what it's actually making, I just need to look into a motorcycle shop near me that has a Dyno to test it out.
