  • Edutainment is the fourth album from Boogie Down Productions. Released on July 17, 1990, it is an album whose lyrics deal with afrocentricity and socio-political knowledge. It has 6 skits/interludes known as 'exhibits' that all talk about or relate to Black people. Many skits feature Kwame Ture (né Stokely Carmichael) a leader of the U.S. Civil Rights Movement and Black Power Movement. The album was certified Gold by the RIAA on October 10, 1990. I came across KRS 1 through hearing joints like Higher Level and We In There, shit so many more single tracks. Always knew the dude was enlightened. Not until I later heard this full album did I understand fully why KRS is known as the teacher. This shit should be part of every school syllabus. For me. This album is BDP's masterpiece. The Teacher opened my mind more than any acid trip. I thought I had most things sussed. KRS taught me to be humble and never stop striving for more knowledge. True knowledge of self is a constant quest. Respect to The BDP Crew for this work of art.

Back in the days when music wasn't all online and you had a limited budget for CDs, I decided not to buy this just because of a lukewarm review. That was the wrong move, but I had to guess. I envy the kids of today, who have 100% of music at their demand.

If anybody ever mentions BDP they usually only talk about Criminal Minded maybe By All Means Necessary but nobody EVER talks about Edutainment. It’s insane how overlooked this album is. Dude really is a Teacha and hardly ever gets credit for what he’s done for the game.

@@problactive285 i love kris, but those two albums are not a bunch of little fire symbols. he's still fine on the mic, but can't pick dope beats anymore. the 2 albums that this fool is dissing, s&v & rotbb, are waaaay better than anything kris has done in the past 20yrs. 2 decades of either wack or unmemorable beats. sad.
