there were a couple of questions i'm still kicking myself for not answering correctly - the methodist one and the one about the shape of the ball - i should have been in the final with Bel - I know, I know, everyone could say that
Had John made it to the final chase this would have been a completely different story. He came so close. May have set a target of say 25 or 26 with a possible 40000 each.
It's hard to beat a chaser in your own, so -£10,000 would not have been a bad choice for the last contestant. Sometime you have to be strategic about this. Neil would have got some answers Bel didn't get. With these set of questions, you needed at least 23. Bel was brilliant but Chasers do this for a living so they always get the standard quiz questions right
Paula Hardeman yes she is - she turned up again on Beat The Chasers a few weeks ago and Paul Sinha claimed he remembered our episode, which I somehow doubt
Bel does know her stuff. When I watch The Chase now, Bradley gives a lot of credit for £4000+ cash builders. My £7000 kind of went unnoticed because of the 2 impressive players that went before me. My son still tells me to this day that I should have gone for the minus offer, but logic goes out of the window when you're under the spotlight. Lesley
Bel brought THE BIG MONEY back for the team, why on earth did John decide to go for THE BIG MONEY too that was just really bad gameplay! If John had just stuck with his Cash Builder Amount he would've be through to help Bel in The Final Chase! Lesley had the right strategy with her offers but sadly didn't make it, maybe if she taken THE -£10,000 and Completely Ignored what Bel said she could've at least built a proper team for The Final Chase! As for Neil well what can you say, he looked like a TOTAL DISASTER from the beginning as I saw when he was also on Revenge of the Egghead Bel may have brought back £40,000, but after hearing the advice she gave to her fellow teammates for their Individual Chases, she in my opinion kept thinking of herself and not her team, thinking she could do better without them by NOT suggesting THE MINUS OFFERS to the others, and in the end she got what she deserved NOTHING!
I believe that both Bel and John had decided to go for the biggest offer before they even got to the studio. I must admit, if John had gone through to the final with the big offer, I may have lost my head and gone for the £40000 too (kind of on a roll). When John went out, I lost a bit of confidence and stuck with my £7000. You're right - both me and Neil should have gone for the -£10000 and Bel would have possibly gone home with something. Truth was - she intimidated us! Having said all that, I had a thoroughly wonderful day (apart from arriving at the railway station an hour early at about 5am - the place was like a ghost town with absolutely nothing happening. In fact I thought I was going mad until I realised it was the last Sunday morning in October, the clocks had gone back overnight and I'd forgotten!)
@@Bather100 Well I'm happy you enjoyed your time on The Chase, sorry you didn't get a more reasonable team player than Bel when you went on, but I thought you were impressive and would've been a valuable asset to the team
@N P tbf tho this is tactically the WRONG way to play this game. As good as she is as a player, you have little to no chance on your own. Even with John back she would have had half a chance. Also tbf Paul was dishing massive minus offers to dissuade people from taking money off the pot, plus this was back in the day when minus offers would get you shot by the team (tbf thats why the whole concept was a massive laugh 😂😂😂, the most noteworthy example of a Scot going to his own player "I've nothing to say to the maggot!" After him going low, and then saying back "could be worse he could have won money" when they lost the final chase.) But yeah tactically this was pure suicide. Why would he go high like that? The moment someone brings a massive amount should also be the moment that you consider building in smaller stacks. Also tbf you've gotta consider how good a player likely will be, you want a decent head start, and that ain't one step. 2 steps would even give you something. Also given team shares are another thing as well that may depend on how good the pot itself will be in the finish up. Bel played a very greedy game, which is just the wrong method altogether. A minus offer for 4 players with say 50k in the pot pre with the low of minus 8 sounds big, until you remember that 50k between 4 is going to be 12 and half each, whereas minus 8 is 10 and a half. So actually you are losing 2 grand. Now place that perspective on it and it becomes far more valuable for ome player to go high anywya as decent money in a pot will like building much better for a team anyway This is just a good example of what not to do.
Extremely sexist comment and very insulting to 'lowly' housewives. Bel is in her sixties and retired - you've no idea what she did during her career. She may well have been a 'psychotherapist or PhD student' too. She is an extremely intelligent lady who reinforced this in 'Beat The Chasers'.
I misread the title as “Lindsay Davenport” and wondered why a retired American tennis player would be on a British game show.
I've been called Lindsay Davenport instead of Lesley Davenport many times - not sure why
The look on Bel's face during Neil's last question... Epic... She does not need him anyway

Yet Bel still didn’t win the £40,000
Bel is smart and appears humble
Yes - a nice lady
35:50 Paul's eye roll was priceless, and completely warranted.
"Well, mercury... *being a liquid,* is very quick...and it's silver!"

Bel is brilliant... If Neil took the negative his body would have never been found
Paula Hardeman yes she is - she turned up again on Beat The Chasers a few weeks ago and Paul Sinha claimed he remembered our episode, which I somehow doubt
Where ever do they get these contestants from?
if they ever want to hook my heart up to a cell phone I am saying NO lol
Neil didn’t deserve to be on the final chase 🤷♂️
He seemed decent enough, just an unlucky quizzer
Bel deserved the money... :(
She’s definitely a great quizzer
Her smartest mates had balls and knowledge... barely lost, and the ganja boy was useless. Mel was BRILLIANT

Bradly was too quick with the questions in the final chase
BEL SHE'S LOST
Www Chu
So hacked off that she lost, great contender.

This is just a good example of what not to do.
1. Shocking--a psychotherapist and a PhD student lose to a housewife.
2. Amazing--the housewife gets 18 answers and 3 push-backs.

Lesley looks just like Germany Chancellor Angela Merkel. Highest complement!!!!!!
Well nobody’s ever said I look like Angela Merkel before - that’s a first
