I think Harley Cameron is AEW's version of Chelsea Green in that she makes the absolute most of any time she gets on the screen. I've also been really impressed by how quickly she seems to be growing into her character and getting better in the ring. She is a standout and I think the sky is the limit for her.

So, this week Bluesky has exploded and I've been amazed how overwhelmingly positive the wrestling community on there is about the AEW product. It's almost like there's a group of trolls on X and Instagram that spend their life screaming into the void how WWE is better when no one is even asking for a comparison, much less their opinion. It's a nice reminder that social media has become a veil over reality and it's okay to actually enjoy the things you enjoy.

@@Richothecat Okay, have a great day. Hope you're spending your life doing something more productive than being such a delight on youtube. Less than a year old account linked to absolutely no one.
I’m sure Vince leaving is a bigger reason for the boom. All AEW did for WWE’s “boom” is show Punk how a company ran as an indie promotion is dysfunctional which led him back to WWE.
AEW got me back into wrestling, WWE I enjoy but it's just not as fun to watch anymore. Started watching WWF when I was a very young kid in 92, always loved the sport but modern WWE is a bit overproduced and just doesn't hit the spot for me. Glad we now have some choice at the top end.
Something about the WWE product is just boring now. From Xavier changing his gear to not match with Kofi or Bronson Seth rematch on TV we know is gonna end up with another rematch at the PPV it's just boring. Like the Solo vs Cody bloodline rules match.... I was calling the spots 20 minutes before hand. That's too goddamn predictable. Might as well watch reruns of American Dad.
I think a lot of folks think that the more critical they are about things, the smarter they come off to everyone. It’s certainly ok to complain but it’s also important to have more energy for joy than disappointment
Attendance is hurt cause nobody but hardcore fans want to buy a ticket to a 4 or 5 hour show ppl don't realize you get dynamite rampage and collision all in one night
This is probably one of the big reasons why they can't sell tickets I like wrestling but 6 hours for TV shows is a bit much that and they do have a lot of sloppy wrestlers so some matches will be dog shit and i don't think you can leave the building for a smoke which is almost barbaric 😂
I think it’s sad that Simon Miller of all people needs to defend and justify being positive. Please completely ignore the freaks and just be yourself and talk about the positives and negatives. It makes me sad hearing you have to justify liking wrestling.
ALSO ALSO I LOVE THE DAMN OUTRUNNERS! been watching 80s wwf, WCW, and the Terries (see what I did there? :p) so seeing their vibe in 2024 is beyond refreshing.
The wwe fanboys over hype wwe just to bash aew. If aew is like a 5. Wwe is only a 5.5 or 6 in terms of quality. AEW will always have better PPV matches. WWE has also killed the hype of alot of shit. Gunter. Sami Zayn. LA knight. The bloodline shit is beyond boring it's going on longer then NWO and all the new samonians are mid as fuck.
Thankyou SImon. Most podcasts and people discussing AEW keep comparing the product with WWE but they are trying to be an alternative so of course it will be different and at least when something does not work they move on quickly and keep going. I enjoy AEW and of course everything is not perfect but it still entertains me anyway.
Same here 💯 Let the haters hate and the trolls troll, I'll always be here to reciprocate them. I know one should turn the other cheek as it were but it's just too much fun calling out their BS
Thanks Simon. AEW deserves some criticism for sure, but the relentless stream of hate can be exhausting so it’s nice to see some positivity. I still enjoy AEW
When it comes to AEW criticism, I try to drown out the Body Shaming (Male and Female Wrestlers) or the "oh, only 2000 people at your show, haha" stuff. There are genuine criticisms out there that I personally feel are valid. I agree with you regarding the Moxley storyline; they need to let it play out. They have had a lot of stop-start stories for various reasons where they have had a massive run-up but not so much flubbed the landing as much as jumped straight into the vaulting horse. The Adam Cole vs. MJF stuff is just all over the place, the Bucks EVP storyline went nowhere, and Jack Perry is not where you would expect, considering the push. I think AEW does have good wrestlers, and they are obviously passionate. I think TK is stretched doing something he has no background in, and the show is carried by the work of the wrestlers. If they can get the booking right, they will be 100 times better.
By "getting the Booking right" ask yourself "what does that exactly mean?" Something that would get a casual fan? Cause their stores ,especially right now are fine. If what you're seeing on AEW right now doesn't interest you ,that's fine, I'm the same with WWE or TNA. What you're really saying that it's not attracting you right now. A WWE audience isn't an AEW audience and Nor SHOULD it be. And also you should blame ,Dean Malenko, Jennifer Pepperman from WWE, Pat Buck, and RD Evans from TNA, aka AEWs writing team.
The EVP stuff... Dude they've been gone for like 2-3 weeks at most.... Develop an attention span bigger than a goldfish. Went nowhere? So okada Continental champion and Perry TNT went nowhere? Why are both champions? Because of the EVPs. This is just dumb to say it went nowhere
@@scottmcginn2169literally everything with Okada and Jack perry is directly linked to the bucks EVP stuff and they've legit been gone for TWO WEEKS. FUCKIN TWO WEEKS.
@@Filmation77 agreed why do wrestling fans think they know how booking works when they don't like what you want spend all day on you tube just watching clips
I just get frustrated when the same Wrestlers get handed the same opportunities. Especially when there's more talented guys not getting any. Both WWE and AEW do this.
I like how dynamite wasnt predictable i thought for sure FTR would win and who thouht It would be Roddy Stromg vs MJF ?? Ans not adam cole or a 3 way dance?
I love AEW, flaws and all. I'm in for the long haul, the Learning curve. Also, I just don't watch WWE. Those are just my circumstances 😅 Also Woo! Simon! Been awhile.
The AEW haters are the guys that whined when WWE was rubbish because there was no competition. AEW is great because it's not like WWE. If you want something like WWE, you can watch WWE. Those of us who like wrestling but don't like the way WWE is presented want something a bit different.
As someone who follows wrestling rather than watches i these past few years. Here is my argument. Sure I don't watch AEW, but surely the fact that I'm not watching WWE either is proof that AEW isn't that much worse (or WWE isn't that much better if you want to be more cynical about it).
Constantly deflecting genuine criticism of the product is what’s making it look bad. You cannot tell me that what you’re watching on AEW is genuinely good. You can like garbage wrestling, but don’t you dare try to tell me it’s good.
Why does nobody talk about the numbers for TNA like they do AEW?? Why do people watch AEW like it's WWE? It's "sports entertainment" first word being sport. Not every thing needs to be this overproduced multi year story that WILL NOT END. And dynamite was awesome especially that first like hour when everything flowed into the next thing
Harley Cameron was not allowed a lot of mic time when Saraya was around and that makes sense I guess, because Saraya is pretty strong promo-wise, but now she's not there, Harley Cameron is REALLY killing it. I cannot get enough of her promos. Every time Renee sticks a mic in her face I am glued lmao
@@BlackQueen-z5b MJF Vs CM Punk feud, Danielson Vs. Omega, Omega "The Belt Collector", Adam Page's Quest of Believing in himself as a World Champion. No clear direction. At least they're on the path of hitting the reset button per Jon Moxley. Even though the "takeover" angle is a bit played out, I'm hopeful they can turn this thing around
@everythingkyros1588 you make a fair argument, I wouldn't agree with the cm punk feud, but that's just because I am not a fan of punk, so that's a me problem. I just think they have such an amazing talent pool atm, lots of potential if they can get the story telling side of things better.

Young Bucks showing the footage of The "Brawl In", Adam Copeland and Will Ospreay, taking shots at WWE for the reason of spite, are remembered for all the wrong reasons. Mercedes is kind of a flop so far, Adam Copeland is injured showing why he was restricted in doing high risk manuevers in thw WWE. Lots of talent being wasted and not being used like Ricky Stark, Miro, etc. Storylines feel forced and not even good. (Although its getting better, but its never the best cause the formative years was the best in terms of storytelling).
I want AEW to succeed and i'm glad some of you enjoy parts of it. But the way it's usually so disjointed as a show and the way that a lot of thetime the storylines make little sense and it puts me off considering the weekly shows as good shows. It's gotten better with the Hurt Business segments as they make sense, as they have guys like MVP and Shelton who know how things should be booked to make sense, Shelton matches have mostly made sense in AEW, it's not 50/50 with guys he shouldn't be going 50/50 with. Match quality there's usually a match on weekly TV which is very good but without any meaning behind them or booking towards it it's just ... fine.. and after seeing a good match with no stakes or booking attached for 5 years, I'm over it at this point. I want a weekly show that's consistent where the booking makes sense, your Main Eventers shouldn't have to do 4 finishers against a midcarder to beat him etc. In terms of the current boom... AEW hype was mostly 5 years ago, they played a small part in the current boom, The audiences between current AEW and WWE are very different with AEW losing more and more viewers that aren't hardcore and their viewers and attendees have been going down for 3 years. That's not "being a big part of the boom", it makes the scene healthy as there's a big promotion to go to outside of WWE, but it's not a considerable part of the current boom. WWE has picked up a lot more casual fans, most of whom aren't interested in AEW. WWE have gotten hot because their creative is simple, yet effective for the first time since the mid 00's. They''ve gotten multiple people truly over. AEW can't get out of their own way sometimes.

I won’t deny, there’s talent on aew, and if you take away the lack of attendance, woeful ratings, appallingly self indulgent backstage stuff then yes, there are some talented performers. But purely based on the tv show…. Feuds are an afterthought. Nothing hooks me. It’s offensively bad at presenting characters, showcasing promos or crafting a consistent world. I love some of the talent but rather than tune in to watch, I just hope they make it to wwe. And I shouldn’t have to think that way.
Well, no one's forcing you to watch 🤷 If you want to sit at the 'kiddie' table that is WWE and obsess over the ratings and attendance of another company then by all means do so, that's your prerogative. As for the rest of us, we'll enjoy whatever wrestling programs/companies we want to 👍
I'm enjoying what they are doing. I don't get why people are saying mox stuff isn't working when it is. I love harly too I was ready to hate her but she's ridiculous
Harley Cameron has been part of QTV and The Outcasts, and you will find these two factions on anyone's top 10 list of WORST AEW FACTIONS. Yet, she always managed to make her parts of it entertaining. Imagine if they gave her a major role? I think she would kill it!
I feelnas though if it wasn't for aew we wouldn't be getting the gold wwe has been producing. That's not a back handed compliment to either company, AEW with the signing of the Hurt Syndicate, and revamping the BPCC could actually be on the rise if they can avoid injuries. AEW should pick a storyline and stick to it to many heel/face changes for the same characters.
Love me sone aew, never understood all the hate, sure not everything is a hit but ive never had that "this is awful im done" moment i was having regularly around 2015/16 wwe. Honest criticisms: Better representation for the women aew was killing it when toni was champ and it feels like its dropped off. They could be better building stars they have alot of home grown talent who have done well but theres a few people who have got really hot and then been allowed to go off the boil. This is a criticism of most wrestling that bugs me stop grouping wrestlers/fueds by race.
I want all of the wrestling companies to succeed. I was was extremely critical of WWE while Vince was running things. I feel like HHH has turned things around for WWE. I have been extremely critical of AEW since brawl out. I feel like the company is an asylum that is run by the inmates. I hope that Tony can gain control over his locker room and guide his company twords success.
I love AEW. I don't care what anyone says. AEW will be just fine, and it's going to continue to grow. AEW is still my favorite company. Harley Cameron is great! I totally agree about her! They really need to push Penelope. She's so awesome. In ring and promo. I really want to see her get a push.
Honestly Simon, I often have a nit or two to pick with your reviews of whatever wrestling product we are looking at at the time, but I think this particular video essay is perhaps the closest I've ever heard anyone express how I feel about AEW, including myself.
Some may have the complaint of why is everyone so flippy when they come down to the ring. But I'm loving what they are doing with Okada. He makes me laugh a lot.I can't wait for them to be available on Max because I bootlegged early dynamite shows but mostly watch RUclips videos now.
As someone who has many of the aew figures, the monthly crate, watched the youtube vid (BTE) and was a huge fan of aew at the start I just wish the booking was better. AEW has alot of amazing talent yet TK to me at least doesn't focus on storylines and just dream matches where if I don't watch for months and return it feels like nothings changed. I want AEW to succeed in their own way yet sadly where the booking is going it's pushed me to enjoy WWE more even with their shenanigans. I could care less about the numbers or viewership, the whole MJF/ Cole story is my example
I know it’s unpopular but I can’t stand Harley Cameron 😭 she’s too forceful for me and I just don’t find her funny at all 🤷🏾♂️ nice to look at though 👀 (also this is just my opinion, nothing wrong if you enjoy her 👍🏾)
I haven’t started the video yet but I find most anti-AEW takes to be a game of telephone spanning years. So they are vague, they are broad and often not even factual anymore. There are legitimate things to complain about and as an avid watcher those takes stick out like sour thumbs. But most of the talk online is just being negative for its own sake. If they start to talk about ratings my eyes glaze over.
Simon wdy think Serene Deep needs to go heel. She trie to gain sympathy fom the fans some months ago because of her health but she didnt and still hasn't. Turn her heel let her go full blast screw everyone and give her a faction. Deeb dojo Give them a run for the TBS title or something
But aew has the best ppvs and honestly some of the best matches. Don't get me wrong the stories are kinda lack luster rn. I'm not gunna say they don't seem to have a bunch of injuries to the roster. It changed stories not for the better. But I watch aew for the matches and wwe for the drama.
AEW needs Kenny Omega back.. have Hobbs & Ricochet join hurt syndicate the continental classic needs to have ospreay vs Okada in the semifinaos jay white vs Okada in the final and have some interesting participants.. Give Ricochet the International title
Only watch AEW casually. Do enjoy some of the roster & the occasional hardcore matches that go haywire. A massive improvement would be removing Tony Schiavone & Excalibur on commentary.
Numbers are important in any business, but not to fans. Do you refuse to enjoy a drama if the ratings aren't there? Do you decide whether or not you enjoy a song based on it's chart position? Do you read a book then check the bestseller list to see if you enjoyed it? Those aren't rhetorical questions. I want an answer as to whether or not you do those things please.
@@VelvetMetrolink I'm pretty sure that's what most people do. Because it's more convenient for people to know what sells/ is more popular than trying everything. Happens to all products, be it songs or books like you said. That's why there's a popular section on music platforms, that's what the algorithm is for. That's why there's a section on bookstores for bestsellers. They're all based on numbers, matter of fact things. And don't just assume that people see the product first before looking at the numbers. And don't assume that looking at the numbers afterwards is a bad thing because some people operate based on others' opinion. That's just how it works to be honest.
@sense6472 You didn't answer my question. I didn't ask if you use metrics to decide what to watch did I? I asked if you use them to decide whether or not you enjoy them. I love AEW, will watch it and buy ppvs for the foreseeable future, it’s my promotion of choice, but they could and should be producing a better quality of weekly product than they have been recently, there is an argument to be made that creative has been lacking for a while. Dynamite isn’t as must watch as it has been in the past and collision is nearly completely missable already. There certainly should be room for constructive criticism, but there are also many who will sh*t on AEW whether it’s a good product or not. I’m sure they will return to top form but it’s sometimes hard to not be negative when they have so many amazing talents on their roster that they aren’t doing anything of any substance with. That being said, there are still reasons to keep tuning in, and now that New Japan is on the decline it’s probably the company that truly can get close to the vision I want in my pro wrestling, I just wish for less sports entertainment like segments.
No offense Simon, AEW is not very good right now. Storylines are blah, the matches feel like “rinse & repeat” all competitive matches, & the TV show is just boring. These storylines are not good. They don’t do recaps ever expect the fans to do homework to watch the show. Aiming for a fringe group to build your company on is a bad idea everytime. Lashley & Swerve was the inky thing I liked. Tony Khan needs to let someone else book. Moxley vs Cassidy is “yawn”, Adam Cole needs a weight room, & everyone needs to dress to impress if the camera is pointed at them. Ospreay wearing track suits, is just dumb. BE A STAR, not just in the ring. And FTR is the most underutilized team in wrestling. They lose constantly, and it makes no sense.
I’ve been a wrestling fan since WM3. I stopped watching wwe 15/20 years ago as it’d turned stale. I have watched every episode of tv AEW put out and enjoyed them all. 3 or 4 times a year I’ll try an episode of wwe and I find it unbearable! As a wrestling fan I feel blessed AEW exists.
Simon is avoiding the major problem with "Moxley Seizes the Superstation TBS" storyline. I respect his positive side of things yet TK does the same thing. The only person that can deal with it yet he's ignoring the problem all together. Can't be happy-go-lucky all the time and let things go sideways
I was really excited about aew when I was announced. But then when I saw it I thought it was worse than the crap Vince was putting out at the time. Especially the in ring. I like a bit of reality, aew is 95 percent either sloppy fake looking work or video game wrestling where guys take turns doing moves to each other until a power meter empties and the match ends. It’s pretty bad. Honestly that’s how I started listening to cornette cause whatculture kept saying how awesome aew was and I was baffled if we were watching the same thing.
Simon has become another Andy Murray. Being defensive over AEW. You can tell us that the ratings or attendance doesn't matter. But truth of the matter is. It does. For the past year, the low ratings and low attendance have been proving that nobody is watching AEW. Why people understand that? But let it be WWE, it would be all over the place. And it would be brutal
Wrong, ratings and attendance only matters to stat-watchers such as yourself. It's the same thing over and over: people like you obsessively go online, look up the numbers then either run onto the online wrestling forums or onto here and proclaim 'see, AEW DOES suck!!!' As always, it's truly pathetic
Wrestling wise yes AEW ppvs are always better. Nobody can argue that. Story-progression-wise? Ahh idk. Sometimes I feel like skipping a few of the matches on aew ppvs bc they didn’t give me a good enough storyline reason to care
I personally do not understand the appeal of Darby. I definitely do not want to see him as world champion, but that is obviously where they are headed. I for one would much rather see Orange be the guy. Hopefully when Allin eventually beats Mox, Christian will "cash in" immediately and take it from him.
AEW is ok, but they do a lot of dumb things. Like the last AEW Dynamite, they said Moxley was going to takeover the TBS station, so where was it, there was no takeover. The whole thing was clickbait and false advertising to get ratings. That was basically fraud, and it really turned me off, I feel as if they tricked me and lied to me. I could care less about the ratings, I just want good shows, and at this point a lot of it is not good. I DVR them because I have to fast forward through a lot of it. And they had the wrong match for the main event, the Swerve/Rush match should have been the main event. The JD Drake stuff is beyond worthless, why is he even on the Wednesday show, he is an old out of shape nobody jobber, who should be on the Friday show, or no shows at all. Britt Baker looked terrible, she seems more skinny and with less strength, something is not right with her, and she looked like she did not even want to be in the ring. And the Daniel Garcia stuff is boring, he looks like a fry cook at McDonalds, not a professional wrestler. Now what happened to Wardlow, he was really over at one time, and a beast, and now he is never on tv. Then this video promo with MJF is also dumb, he is never there live, and he never wrestles.

Get that garbanzo outta here!
@@Filmation77I provided examples of where the booking is not right. Tell me where I am wrong about those examples.

Today I feel like its a jumbled mess.

Why? *head slap* Here’s why.

Christian winning the title from Darby similarly to how Jimmy havok won the progress title from Mark Andrews would make some fun tv

Only watch AEW casually. Do enjoy some of the roster & the occasional hardcore matches that go haywire. A massive improvement would be removing Tony Schiavone & Excalibur on commentary.
Numbers have always been inportant in wrestling
It's called a business for a reason.
But could you be more specific cause it seems to me from what I've observed they're doing ONE main story and three to four lesser angles . Cause people say statements like that but doesn't mention any real angles or what stores. Say you just don't like AEW without saying it
@@Filmation77 WWE have multiple stories every wrestling promotion is going to have that one big story line the Kevin Owens in Randy Orton story Cody is added into that story Cody is also added into the bloodline story whenever they need him to be that's what make WWE so appealing multiple characters for stories so when people say WWE just have the bloodline story that's not the case because you can add multiple characters into that story when you look at AEW Dynamite the stories they just goes on and on and on without a destination they're just going to move on from this Jon moxley thing just like they did the Tony Khan injury nothing is never finished nothing is never going to have satisfaction of a outcome unless it's a character retiring it's like the same story over and over again in AEW sting and Bryan Danielson was the same story with a different outcome the elite taking over AEW is the same storyline as Jon moxley taking over AEW same thing but different outcomes AEW has the same stories while WWE have different variety of stories in the company including the tag team division stories so yeah AEW right now is a circus.

Dynamite isn’t as must watch as it has been in the past and collision is nearly completely missable already. There certainly should be room for constructive criticism, but there are also many who will sh*t on AEW whether it’s a good product or not.

I don't even know what to say your just wrong. It's insane I didn't know you could be this wrong.... Solo vs Cody in the cage is all I gotta say
It's the same thing over and over: people like you obsessively go online, look up the numbers then either run onto the online wrestling forums or onto here and proclaim 'see, AEW DOES suck!!!'
As always, it's truly pathetic
WWE has better weekly shows
AEW has better PPVs
WWE doesn't have PPVs. Hasn't for 9 years.
@ semantics. “Premium live event”
Wrestling wise yes AEW ppvs are always better. Nobody can argue that. Story-progression-wise? Ahh idk. Sometimes I feel like skipping a few of the matches on aew ppvs bc they didn’t give me a good enough storyline reason to care

..... Not every damn match needs gangbanged with story like WWE. IT'S A "SPORT" AFTER ALL.
I got to say I'm a big aew fan but I've been falling asleep during the show lately. They need something to happen that I care about
Simon Miller on the Tony Khan payroll
Sure troll 👍🙄🤡
I personally do not understand the appeal of Darby. I definitely do not want to see him as world champion, but that is obviously where they are headed. I for one would much rather see Orange be the guy. Hopefully when Allin eventually beats Mox, Christian will "cash in" immediately and take it from him.
the appeal is a more extreme jeff hardy without the drug and alcohol addictions
