You should gather those chestnuts to get the grilled chestnuts bonus, you can just change the recipe in the grill when the potatoes are growing and change it back when chestnuts are growing. Also thanks for continuing the story, I really enjoy it
If your population is going to be staying this low, I don't think you really need any food storage. The farm can hold 50 of each crop, and the grill can hold 180 grilled potatoes. That's enough to keep a dozen beavers for an entire cycle. And once you diversify your types of food that will only increase, you can just let the grills/bakeries be your storage. That will also help you figure out how much farmland you actually need, so you don't take up a bunch of excess space growing/storing more food than you can ever eat.
At this moment we don’t have a ton of other jobs to be filled, so we can use the time to fill the storages with food. That way when we get to the part where we have to shift around our beavers to other jobs, like metal work, we have the food to support them for a bit, while they won’t be working in the farms/grills/etc. Once we get to the point where our bots can take over some jobs, the need for food storage will definitely be less important. =]

You’ll be very happy to see what I did in episode 3 then. Both story and chestnut wise.

It would be better if you can zoom in at details like this 9:11, 11:37. Me watching on phone kinda hard to see what you are talking about
