@Liam Proxy Couldn't agree more, I wish they would at least remaster the series or better yet continue it, I love how it went through the different historical eras like world war one etc.
Not only that, man, it had the PERFECT blend between wacky humor, "ecchi" fanservice, seriousness, drama, darkness, intrigue and it had perfect side quests, enemy designs were creepy, system was immersive and exciting even for a JRPG, and the music was perfect.
i just love this theme, its the disturbing kind that just sets the mood. and for that matter i miss the days when rpg games where had story and characters. thanks for posting this
Absolutely loved this and Koudelka. Lookin forward to play Covenant. They don't invest in this kind of games anymore. This was low budget but the developers put everything they could on it
Brilliant. Started this game about 16 years ago but never finished it until picking it back up from my 22 hour save about a week ago. Just beat it and can't wait to do NG+. Horribly underrated game and wish I didn't wait so long to complete it.
Just hearing the bells made me literally nervous lmao the bells signifies "we're screwed". Can't believe I still manage to beat him my first try. Knowing me, it would take me a crap load of tries
Or womb. I think it's designed to look both like a pelvis and womb and be a representation of the reproductive/cyclic aspects of nature that it is literally responsible for creating on this planet. It's the two-face thing that freaks me out.
Boss designs aren't that scary anymore outside of the typical zombie horror genre. This screams Lovecraftian horror and i loved it. This and 2 were my favorites hell i loved the fact that they included the Hound of Tindalos....even if the lore canon Hound would destroy even Amon. " They were evil , derived of the geometric rather than the organic. They came from beyond time and space to hunt those who stepped over the boundaries. They found my friend and killed him leaving a strange blue ichor on where they ripped his leg from his body.... well something to that effect from the actual book.
Epic and excellent, the Judgment Day theme from those bells is terrifying. Not just one ring, but wave after wave, drowning out everything. Like an apocalypse.
Shadow Hearts series is one of the best rpg games from the past, a time I spend a lot of time on games. a great dark story and characters with great soundtracks. Listening to this from time to time
It's a manufactured God using esoteric magic. There's a real God and Yuri actually harmonizes angels and demons alike. Roger Bacon even states so. Meta is a human made deity. Quite the twist.
@@Thiago_Alves_Souza whaaa? He wasn't manufactured. He was lured in from space. They even name the nebula he's from. And his description says that he is what people called "god," although there are many many gods in Shadow Hearts.
I always found the bosses of the second half to be a joke, including Metagod. Just equip crucifixes to all characters and you only need to worry about HP and, in case of Alice, Sanity. Sure, Seraphic Radiance has the added benefit of dealing damage and healing, but its not required.
ah man do i have so much love for this series and its music after all these years, and more to come. just remembering that one of its bosses is just... goddamn.... jesus with his skin flayed kinda tickles me. and god here being a space fly with hooves and shit, it's great. hoping for more weird and wonderful things in pennyblood~
the overall creepy moments that would sometimes come out of nowhere in this game are unrivaled in anything ever on a jrpg FOR ME..only think i can think of is the beginning of Xenosaga 1 and that comes nowhere close to SH1. I remember getting this when i was 11 at EB games thinking cool another rpg game i can play..and when i saw that opening cutscene it just blew me out of the water and i knew i was in for some good shit...then that first town just sealed the deal
Imbroglio in the English language means "a difficult or near impossible situation, a mess" as well. Which originates from the Italian: Imbrogliare, confusion.
Invisible ring (double damage)+the 100% crit rate item+a seventh key and he was done. I had neither radiance nor amon, but I still feel like I cheated lol
I had all 3 SH games before selling them about half a year ago with the rest of my games and consoles. The first two are on my top five RPGs for sure, it eas one of the rare moments where I wanted to do every side quest and get every secret in the game (especially on the first game). When you get that ultimate last transformation with Yuri and fight the last boss with it *chef's kiss* I just wish that they remaster all the games or at least put them on the PS Plus store/Game Pass.
I wish I can play shadow hearts 2 and dam it froze on me last night. Do you know anyone who are selling it? I just finished part one last night and I’m already hooked on to this game really bad.
You can find Shadow Hearts: Covenant on Ebay and Amazon. The EU version and the Japan version is cheap. No idea how it looks like with the US version. But I don't think the game will cost a fortune.
Shadow Hearts Series.......Or as I started viewing it as Yuri's Bizarre Adventure Phantom Blood the RPG! Which is not a bad thing (I prefer the Jojo's set in past more then the modern era anyway! Not that I hate Part 3-6 and 8)
Kind of repetitive, isn't it? (and before you ask, no, I don't hate this theme or this game. I never even played this game, and I actually think this theme is pretty damn good. I just thought someone should point it out.)
It literally causes me pain how underrated this game is. It should be on the same pedalstall as Final Fantasy.
@Liam Proxy
Couldn't agree more, I wish they would at least remaster the series or better yet continue it, I love how it went through the different historical eras like world war one etc.
It causes me pain too. :( What I would give for a remaster if this to play on pc...
Its still so underrated and looked over. It is better than MANY of the FF titles I've played. I agree.
never played final fantasy, but this game is underrated for sure
Above at least legend of Dragoon in terms of hype.
I wish we got more 'Horror-JRPGs'
Yeaaaaah, this game was fucking GREAT! Totally agree with you!
The second game is a master piece in my opinion...
I have plans for one horror rpg in the future hope i can make it one day.
@@Azathoth4444 Good luck!

Instant sanity check right there
BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLSSSS.
And Techno. But mostly BEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLS.
Absolutely loved this and Koudelka.
Lookin forward to play Covenant.

This sure lets you know one thing: "oh...were screwed!"

For some random reason, I think about the sound of bell then started thinking about this song. Man, I should play Shadow Hearts again.
This is a very good theme, the bells are very nicely used and fairly imply a serious sense of 'We are so screwed'. Very nice.
Just hearing the bells made me literally nervous lmao the bells signifies "we're screwed". Can't believe I still manage to beat him my first try. Knowing me, it would take me a crap load of tries
Hahaha, me two
RUN! it's the giant pelvis with wings!
+Lauchlin Yurchuk you just ruined my life lol
Or womb. I think it's designed to look both like a pelvis and womb and be a representation of the reproductive/cyclic aspects of nature that it is literally responsible for creating on this planet.
It's the two-face thing that freaks me out.
witha fly head and horse hooves 🤣
This battle is hard if you don't have crucifix equipped. Your stuck in a loop of healing status abnormalities until miss a ring turn.
The 1st turn the damn thing petrified me and I got a game over
you can't see it in this image but it has a second head underneath the normal one, and it's a fly head.
Reminds me a lot of the music in Drakengard. Makes you want to slaughter legions

Bring back the "lovecraftian horror themed jrpg games".
I love this song.
You fight the creature whose actions led humans to believe in gods. That's unsettling
Monkey paw and silver hand work well against it. And it has a good final boss theme too.
if you didn't have the Seraphic Radiance at this point, you're doing it wrong.
+Erik Roberts Not exactly, as you can still get the other ending, but yeah, the fight is way harder with just Amon
>->
The fight was easy for me as an Amon user. I just used Silver Hand + B. Dragon Horn + Keys = Meta God dead in a couple of turns :D
tinyraptor I'm taking the keys away from you.
I always found the bosses of the second half to be a joke, including Metagod. Just equip crucifixes to all characters and you only need to worry about HP and, in case of Alice, Sanity.
Sure, Seraphic Radiance has the added benefit of dealing damage and healing, but its not required.
Ride that seraphic radiance all the way to victory.
I remembered having to fight that weird thing, I hated that thing but loved this song! I'm glad I got to hear it again.
Shadow hearts is one of the best J rpg's i haven't played koudelka yet.
I need to play this game sometime.
Is the Best n__ñ
8 years later, did you play it ?
the first time i heard this back when i was in secondary school was one of the proudest moments of my gaming life.
Most underated game ever. I really hope they can remake this - Imgine shadow heart 1 with no 3's battle sytem and graphics ... ;O
ah man do i have so much love for this series and its music after all these years, and more to come. just remembering that one of its bosses is just... goddamn.... jesus with his skin flayed kinda tickles me.

Why does this not have more views?
If only Shadow Hearts 3 didn't shy away from gothic horror, we could have had a few more games.
when i first got to this boss the stage reminds me of final destination from super smash bros melee for some odd reason
BioPheonix Is the final boss of that game in outer space?
yeah kinda. i mean have you not played a smash bros game before?
BioPheonix
I played it but never owned it, though...
ok seems fair enough
I like how this battle is still tough but much more enjoyable with fully decked characters at level 99

Funny how "Imbroglio" in Italian means "Cheat" or "Deceit".
The Master Cheat? You mean "Cheating in life and death?"
Imbroglio in the English language means "a difficult or near impossible situation, a mess" as well. Which originates from the Italian: Imbrogliare, confusion.
This boss was definitely harder than the second game's final boss.
Nah all depends how u come set up just like in 3 do the bonus stuff and u make quick work of them
Complete pushover with the Seraphic Radiance.
Invisible ring (double damage)+the 100% crit rate item+a seventh key and he was done. I had neither radiance nor amon, but I still feel like I cheated lol
From the looks of this they were fighting Yahweh which was an epic boss fight.
Not Yahweh. The boss’s name is Meta-God.
beacuse its so sadly underrated
Thumbs up if you come here because of The autarch of flame
FEAR THE WRATH OF GOD!!! I said that when I fought him.

You really should, if you still haven't. It is PS2 only to my knowledge however.
Came from "Soul Calibur 4 - [55] Video Game Characters" :D

Shadow Hearts Series.......Or as I started viewing it as Yuri's Bizarre Adventure Phantom Blood the RPG! Which is not a bad thing (I prefer the Jojo's set in past more then the modern era anyway! Not that I hate Part 3-6 and 8)
needs more bells
Where's the Shadow Heart remaster? it's 2024 c'mon now.
did you play shadow hearts yet
No. Don't have a PS2 anymore so even if i did find it, i wouldn't even be able to play it, sadly.
Feulingnightmare Than i need to find the game
you could always emulate it with pcsx2
This game is a nightmare to emulate though.
I didn't have any problems emulating it, and my pc is a potato :/
音楽?
I love this piece with every fiber of my being but thematically trumpets/horns would have been excellent. (I.e. The horns of judgement)
Kind of repetitive, isn't it?
(and before you ask, no, I don't hate this theme or this game. I never even played this game, and I actually think this theme is pretty damn good. I just thought someone should point it out.)
damn this song is weak, the bell chimes are annoyingly repetitive
Brain dead tastelet, filtered.
