I remember building a couple of these Southland homes and it was easy. I Also learned a lot of tips to building them that will save trouble in the future.

Do not be deceived. I love these have set them up and build them for around 30 years....they are kil dryed which is great .but I would recommend using a builder these logs are very heavy they use very heavy timbers for roof systems. They are strong but you need to be strong to handle some of the timbers all this being said I still think they are one of the best homes out there if you have good builder

From a person that bought one of these log homes I wouldn't recommend it at all, not from Southland log homes, they didn't lie, but they didn't give me all the information either which caused my budget to implode...lol My homes logs slit something bad. I wouldn't do pine again for sure i would go with Cedar and another log home company once I spoke to others that have bought from them. Just know , you need to buy a water meter, septic tank, roofer , and all extra lumber outside of the kit. the kit only had the logs, windows and some doors . you have to buy every thing else deck lumber floor boards and roof wood as well. many parts to building one of these, big pocket book and you have to stain ever few years as well ..I should start a pod cast...lol also the builder they recommended try yo scam me as well, i fired him for lying, I picked someone else that did great.

saving up for a kit now... i just wish they had like a log of the people that have bought one of these homes and there total expense. I want to have a good 40,000 in the bank before i start to see pricing and all the cost to build a house.
Keep saving. These kits run in the 100 to 150k range just for the kit. Land, permits, water, sewer, foundation, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc easily double this number for a modest home. Happy home!!
You can buy your logs wholesale and buy your window and doors locally, make your own floor plan and you can build it for a fraction of the cost of a kit.

If you are considering a log home, do not even look at Southland Log Homes. Run, very fast, or just stop and pull all reviews, Better Business reviews. The people who are building the home are contract builder. Southland Log Homes is nothing more than a process mill suppliers. All Southland Log Homes is concerned about is getting you stuck in to a contract to purchase log supplies. Building a log home is about building a dream home. Working with Southland Log Homes will kill your dream and leave your wife crying for days. Working with Southland Log Homes was tbe worst nightmare I have Experienced! It cost me $15,500 in tbe 10% down payment and after 8 months of dealing with the Southland Log Home process I ended up firing Southland Log Homes. Always, Always, Always, start you log home dreams with a sesrch, review, background check, and selections of your actual builder, the person you are going to hold responsible for the complete construction of your dream log home. Work with you builder to develop you dream home plans. Let your builder select and negociate the price of you builing material. Again do all reviews on Southland Log Homes and run! Do not sign a contract with Southlan Log Homes!
