Loved that thank you. Please could you do more on the triplets and five counts. Maybe show us how the five count us done in a song? Thanks again 😁👏👍

Funny thing: more than a few times, now, I accidentally defaulted to the Island Strum while playing guitar and the dudes I was playing with (every one of them musicians) were like, "Hey, how do you do that? It sounds so cool!" and I taught it to them. So I don't disparage it and it does have its place and does actually sound great on many songs, but I also absolutely appreciate you demonstrating some alternatives and variety. Ukulele does get turned into a cliche far too often and it really has a lot more expression and color than most people ever get to explore.

Definitely more interesting strumming patterns. Great lesson!

I don't hate the strumming pattern you're hating on in this video, and I've done it on guitar for decades at this point (depending upon the song). 🤷🏻‍♀️ Maybe I have terrible taste? I clicked the link to find out what you considered to be the pattern that ukulele players need to break out of (I've only had a ukulele for about 2.5 weeks and I totally love it, but I've been playing rhythm guitar since I was a kid). I was pleased to see that the pattern you're teaching for 5/4 is the one I chose about a week ago, when I randomly decided to write in that time signature - it seemed the easiest to get my mind around. 😅 I like the 4/4 pattern with the triplet in it - I haven't noticed that one before and I will try it!

Yes....but you have to work with the time signature the song was written in. Can't play Somewhere Over the Rainbow as a waltz, no matter how much you like a ¾ strumming pattern.

Could you explain how you strum? I'm a beginner and would like you to know whether you are using your nail of your index finger to strum "down" and the inside of your finger to strum "up"? Idk still confusing lol
