    I don't think I've ever seen the *Maras* but I like it.

      I’ve only ever seen Maras perform it, and it took him years before he finally could do it without a huge form break on the regrasp

      Right? It looks so amazing! 🔥 But I also like the piked version without the half turn... and actually all Gaylord versions, maybe except the Koudinov, which looks too scary in my opinion 🙈

      I kind of agree, although I’m not a huge MAG fan. At least two of their six apparatuses are just not aesthetically pleasing. I speak of pommel horse and rings. I don’t wanna see people almost popping their temple vessels just to do a cross or whatever it’s called on rings for a few seconds. Impressive strength, of course, but it looks awful. Floor is also less exciting to me in MAG due to the lack of music. The women always make it a spectacle even with less difficulty. But high bars is phenomenal and so is vault. Actually wished men would do balance beam too tbh. ;)

      @@mariusa.5863 Well, regarding MAG floor exercise, I recommend this: ruclips.net/video/sJabJuscX7E/видео.html
      I blame the modern COP that drives the way of the sport in the wrong way.

      @@mariusa.5863What? Still rings are the peak of aesthetics! If you only see poorly executed routines, that's another thing... Same with pommel horse

    The piked position looks so clean and nice, kind of reminds of beautiful form in diving.

    The Koudinov is a beautifully difficult skill but the form deductions are massive so I doubt many other gymnasts would attempt it in competition

    Aren't the straddled and piked variations technically different skills? Why don't they have names?

    • @gymnasticsmasterclass
      @gymnasticsmasterclass  2 года назад +8

      They are in the same box (regular Gaylord, straddled and from el-grip) so they are considered the same skill. The piked one is different tho
