I've never seen an actor convey rejection, loneliness , dejection and disappointment better, and he doesn't even open his mouth. All in less then 4 minutes
River portrayed this character of a broken, vulnerable, and innocent boy with so much care and dedication. This scene is so heartbreaking to watch because he is struggling not to cry and fighting to stay conscious at the same time. Poor babe.
People try to say "its just acting" but in truth, he had alot of held back emotions and unprocessed emotions in his life, he was thinking and feeling real experiences that related to his acting. We are watching true emotion. That is why he was so special. He knew how to access those hidden emotions to enhance his "acting". It was not acting so much. It was living a alternate reality where he could outlet his emotions.
It still tears me apart to know we lost this beautiful soul. Too young , too soon. Let's face it some people who have left this world are hard to forget....and River is one.

Today 9/12/20 2:05 pm I sit here in bathtub having a complete nervous break. Episodes are different I'm hanging on this time im over the edge. I don't want to be in the world anymore. I feel this kind of pain multiplied by a zillion. cruel world. It's on fire. People fighting in street and covid RUINED lives oh River omg Riverrrrrrrr 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Eu nunca vi alguém com uma beleza igual. Rosto angelical, e como era talentoso, essas cenas são incríveis, parece que ele nem tava representando, mas sendo ele mesmo. É muito triste saber que ele se foi tão cedo. O que a inveja não faz. E saber que desse lindo rosto e corpo não existe mais nada a não ser as imagens e fotos deixadas por ele. Mas eu peço a Deus para que ele esteja em um lugar lindo, e que um dia eu possa encontra-lo .♥️🌻

I went to see the early movie matinee "my own private Idaho".. after it was over, i sat thru it 2 more times, i was struggling with the complexity of the movie.. In this movie, River played a boy that had severe narcolepsy and when stressed he would black out..he was abandoned by his mom, then sexually abused, and to survive he turned to prostitution. he moved to portland, and met Keanu's character. The two of them were merely surviving and being abused by everyone they came in contact with.. Tragic story. In the last scene, he was heading back to Idaho on a remote road, The narcolepsy caused him to black out again, and a car pulls up, you think, "finally, someone is going to show this boy kindness". hoping for a happy ending, and the driver, checks to see that River is ok.. the song, "America the beautiful" begins to play as the driver takes his shoes and leaves him unconscious and alone in the middle of nowhere. I sobbed.. I had to watch it 3 times in a row to grasp the emotions i was feeling. After this touching movie, i was a lifelong fan of both River and Keanu. I wish Keanu would take on more independent films with this level of depth..
Mike, the main character and the one in this scene, is in love with his best (male) friend, Scott. But Scott's straight, he doesn't love him back and has just left him behind to pursue some girl he just met there in Italy. Then poor Mike is left heartbroken and hopeless and has no choice but to return to the US all alone. Another thing, Mike suffers from narcolepsy, that's why he's seen having a sleeping fit at the end.
@@timidkitten1709 i do believe scott may not be straight. i think he did love mike the same way, and did have feelings for him too, but he was too afraid to admit it/ didnt realize it/ or he knew but tried to surpress and deny it because he believed men can't love men. but i think somewhere deep inside, scott had the same love for mike.
@@azaka3720 No no no, Scott wasn't straight that's right, as we are told he was in a sort of relationship with Bob and does kiss Bob on the movie, however Scott wasn't in love with Mikey and said boys can't love each other to not hurt his feelings and convince himself that he was straight (even tho he wasn't)

True....river is different from any other actor of Hollywood and his is the first choice to play jack in titanic.so sad he's gone😢
