  • In this review, I dive into "Kneecap," a 2023 Irish comedy-drama directed by Rich Peppiatt. The film stars real-life Belfast rap duo Kneecap, who portray fictionalized versions of themselves.

going to see it tonight! My 70 year old mum (who speaks Irish) saw it at the weekend and she loved it - though she was very critical of some of the foul language! 🤣 Thanks for your review!

Great review. I am a fan of Kneecap, and love that their movie and their message is out there and that people are there for it and enjoying the film.

Excellent review! I'm glad this popped up on my page. I am learning Irish, I love Kneecap's music, and was very excited to watch the film. It exceeded my high expectations.
I liked hearing your take and fresh perspective on the film and the group. I likewise appreciate that the film acknowledged the source and significance of Hip Hop in Black culture and movements, and how it's a vehicle for expression and liberation.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Kneecap is heading to the Oscars. Last year another Irish language film made it to the Oscars, as well. It's called An Cailín Ciúin, or The Quiet Girl. It is very different from Kneecap and not exactly a fun or happy movie. But it's an incredible and moving film, and has been important to the recent revival of the Irish language, Irish film, and the context of Kneecap. So you may be interested, if you haven't seen it already. It's available on Hulu and Amazon Prime. Just keep some tissue handy.

I appreciate the attempt to pronounce their names 😂 they’re pronounced “muh kara”, “moh-glee bahp” (móglaí is pronounced like the character from The Jungle Book cuz that was his nickname growing up), and “DJ pro-vee”

@zeo1087 thank you for the correction. It's funny because my Irish brother in law loves with me and I should have just asked him lol
