Drop any comments if you have questions about the hike or what you thought about to 🥾This climb was a perfect half day trip in Huaraz. The views from the summit of Nevado Mateo were stunning. It looked straight onto the tallest peak in Peru!
We had a great time! Though it wasn’t a planned climb, we are glad we did it. We almost bailed since we were so tired. Such epic views! We can’t wait to go back and explore Peru. Have you been?
Tim “I walked right down it!” Such incredible views you two get to see and so cool that you share it with us. Can’t wait to see what adventures you go on next 🙂
This climb was surprisingly enjoyable haha! Mainly because it was only 3 miles. We aren’t huge mountain climbers either, but enjoy it once in awhile. If you have questions, let us know. Happy to help share plans and logistics. It was a good dip your toes in kinda climb. Up next we will share our trek to Machu Picchu 🙌🏼
You would definitely appreciate it because it’s off the beaten path. Most people that go seem to be local Peruvians 🤙🏽 A lot of the videos we searched were vlogs in Spanish. Thanks for watching!
That sounds lovely! Coming up soon. The year will fly by. We hope to make it to Norway this year, but we have so much to fit in. Maybe we will have good intel, and also I’m sure it’s a place we would visit multiple times
Interesting that it seems like the hike up wasn't as difficult as the trip back down. 😅 A couple hours long hike sounds a bit more my speed from the usual. Hopefully you got some good sleep after you got back!
You’re spot on! Hiking downhill is always tougher for us because we both have knee issues. It did seem harder downhill this time around because the guide had to put some rope up on the steep and slick rocky sections. We like short and sweet adventures too! We were very sleep deprived after 2 straight days of trekking right before.
It was a bit rainy and snowy the day we started so we are glad we had it. We travel full-time so limited on footwear we can carry 😉 Thanks for your concern
For this specific hike it was stated at the trailhead to have a certified mountain guide. We booked through a guide for this hike and never would’ve discovered it on our own. We love supporting the local economy and jobs too! 😬
Thank you! We are so glad you like the Peru series. Have you been before or are you currently looking to plan a trip there? Let us know if you have any questions 🏔️
@@HelenandTimTravel I have never been or thought of it but im really inspired from you now! Im moving to iceland (!!) this summer so maybe a trip to Peru next year
Iceland sounds amazing! We rented a camper van about 5 years ago and drove around the ring road. So excited for you! Where are you moving from? Happy to share tips if you need help planning. You can email hello@helenandtimtravel.com or DM us on IG @helenandtimtravel

I love how you include the logistics of getting from Lima to Huaraz to the trailhead! Makes the content much easier to follow!
Glad to hear it made it easy to follow! We hope it was helpful. Try to help make planning easier for those that are thinking about making the trip ☺️
W❤️W! Stunning! Cheers for more incredible and breathtaking adventures!🥂❤️✨
Thanks! We loved Peru so much. We have two more coming out in this series. Hope your adventures are going well too ✈️

The view from the top was special. I'm looking forward to a summer high in the mountains after I retire to get ready to perform such a hike.
It was an epic view! We are excited for your next chapter. When do you retire? Would be great to meet up on the road 🏔️🥾

Too much altitude for my tired old lungs, but what a nice hike/climb. Thanks for posting.🙂
Definitely knocked the wind out of us. We spent a couple days at over 15,000ft altitude before this, so we felt alright 😅 Happy new year!!
You guys dont jeed fancy goretex gear. 1 local was doing this peak in jeans, another in velvet sweatpants

Great movie, but Huaraz is pronounced more like What -us =).
Thanks for watching and for the correction on how to pronounce. Heard it so many different ways when we were there 😆
When did you guys film this?
We climbed during mid Sept 2022 🤙🏽🏔️
NO CERTIFIED GUIDES NEEDED IN PERU. WHERE IS THE LAW STATING THIS REQUIREMENT
