I can unequivocally say that it’s the sexiest bike I’ve ever seen! I couldn’t be happier. Tommy has built an absolute stonker here let me tell yas! Love to all in the PBM kitchen 👊
That’s a special bike for sure! Well done Tom and well done Luke 👍 sounds wicked and looks fantastic. I’m curious how the handling turned out with Busa front end and aprilia swing arm?
Tom I think that is one of the cleanest looking CBX customs I have seen nicely done & that sound wow, as a triple fan myself that big six sounds so sweet.
"sounds like an F1 car", yes that's what CBX's are famous for. However, if you're a connoisseur of engine sounds, what it really sounds like is an early 60's Ferrari V12 GTO. Look up Nick Mason (from Pink Floyd) and his famous 1964 Ferrari GTO for a cross reference.
I did my growing up in the late 70s and early 80s and the CBX was a legend but unfortunately out of my reach. The bike you’ve built is absolutely beautiful.
I miss my 82 CBX, which I had for 20 years and rode over 50K miles with no issues except those damn brushes (you CBX owners know of what I speak). Great job on this custom and while I hate to see any stock CBX get cut up, I have to say that if I had my way, I'd have a clean stock 82 again - and one of these. Sounds great, worthy updates and sharp looking.
On one hand, this is a grail type build, extremely well done and cool. On the otherhand it's a sin to touch a CBX for anything other than restoration to former glory
I've thought about doing some custom stuff to my 79 model but can't bring myself to hack up an original CBX. I especially like the suspension upgrades you did so it handles better and has wider tires, which it needs. Shaving off all that weight must really wake it up too. Mine is stock except for a DG 6 into 1 pipe. Nice build.
That was my first big bike when I was 18. I went from a Vespa P200E straight to the Honda. I miss that bike, would be worth a fortune now! Really like what you have done to this one, I can only imagine the money that has been lavished on it. Lucky guy!
great video mate absolutely love that CBX 1000. I always have. my first encounter with one was in about late 70 we were at the coast with some mates we were on125s I heard this noise and some guy was blasting up the lane on the back wheel i couldn’t believe what I was looking at never forget that moment it was fantastic. always wanted a cbx but it was out of my league and still is. good look guys 👏👏👏👏.
Hats off with the PBM CBX1000 build. I think the team absolutely nailed it and knocked it out of the ball park. Visually the bike is gorgeous, to sum it up "Sex on wheels". Personally after seeing the work and attention to detail, I will definitely keep PBM in mind if I decide to go for a build in the future. Cheers
Great job on the bike! It sounds so good with those six pipes too! When designing a bike like this you have so many options especially with custom gas tank styles. One thing I noticed is that you could also increase the gas tank capacity by extending it under the seat. From there, you might even add little custom side panels to hide that inner gas tank area. Later!
I often compare a CBX1000 exhaust note to a mid 60's Ferrari V12. Being a six it's one octave lower of course, but when the CBX engine gets to say 7000 rpm it's essentially the same as a Ferrari 250 GTO at 3,500 rpm and that's where the similarity in engine note becomes almost identical. My point being a mid 60's Ferrari 250 GTO is arguably the most glorious engine note of all time. Be sure look one up sometime on RUclips to see what I mean. Who wouldn't want a motorbike that sounds like a Ferrari 250 GTO?
Woah that is cool. Definitely inspiring some ideas for when I start my next bike build. Are you going to do any vids on the Zero in the background at 6:05?
Awesome project!!, beautifully put together with great components as always, “but” the handlebar isn’t cafe racer style as the bike is (I have to point that out) 🤗👍🏻
Are you giving it the beans? I would expect it to be faster with 50kgs less, doesn't feel thaaaat fast Other than that it's looking, sounding and feeling amazing! Congrats from the other side of the world

Undoubtedly one of our favourites to date 🔧⚡️
That’s a special bike for sure! Well done Tom and well done Luke 👍 sounds wicked and looks fantastic. I’m curious how the handling turned out with Busa front end and aprilia swing arm?
@@discflight the bike holds the road really well. The bikes wheel base was extended 30mm, and the rake is now 23 deg so she’s pretty nimble
@@PurposeBuiltMoto the DRZ is still my favorite, but that’s because it’s the kind of bike I want to build myself!
@@ericweber1969 Fair call!

This is one special bike that's for sure. Thanks Jim.
You may have just built my dream bike! The 6cylinder is a symphony of sound hats off to you and your team 🤙
The dream bike could become a reality bike if you want it bad enough....
Amazing build, sounds like an F1 car!
Such a joy to ride 💪🏼

The little touch of paint on the wheels....it's all in the details 👍
Those are actually decals we had made for the Jonich Wheels
This is the best cbx 1000 project!
Love this bike.
The engine sound alone is worth it this bike. Aesome build!
Agreed!
Wow - CBXs are rare enough - this is another level.
One of a kind this one
Didn't believe it could sound better than it looks, but I stand corrected. That thing sounds so good.
Best conversion of CBX just my opinion 👌
This is like driving a two wheeled 240Z or Hakosuka Skyline. Amazing.
You better believe that!
I did my growing up in the late 70s and early 80s and the CBX was a legend but unfortunately out of my reach. The bike you’ve built is absolutely beautiful.
This is the single most beautiful bike I have ever seen hands down.
Your head may explode if you rode it!
Very nice work, the CBX is one of the best bikes ever made. The sound of that engine on the open road as the RPMs rise is exhilerating.
This! I've ridden em all but i would seriously love to experience that ride, that sound on miles and miles of twisty tarmac.
Maaan that's a beautiful built❤️🔥and❤️🔥❤️🔥 what a machine.............love from India ❤❤❤

Luckily there’s plenty of those knoght of the Templar blokes out there preserving motorcycles history so we don’t have to

Maybe tune up a Vespa eh?😂🇬🇧

Thanks Carlos, We've built this as a cross over to be a bit more comfortable to ride long distances. the bars are an important part of that.
You have produced a masterpiece. I'd love to buy this one or something same like that . Please let me know .
Thanks for your interest. Head to PurposeBuiltMoto.com and send us an email to talk about your next bike!
Amazing👌
The bike is stunning, but I feel like it kind of lost that F1 sound ? I don't know if that was intentional, regardless what a beautiful bike.
Would you happen to have a video or article for a swingarm swap? That is a concept I'd like to learn about.
Hey Austin,
We don't have a swing arm swap article, next time we do one in the shop I'll make sure to take the process down.
@@PurposeBuiltMoto Thanks! :)
oh the things i would do to own one of those !

whaooooouuuuuuuuuu splendide , very nice
6in1 Kerker pipe...enough said

awesome!
That looks great. I'm on the fence about keeping my 79 stock (except the 6 into one pipe) or going custom.
go custom if you do it properly like this video and actually improve the stock bike.
I've decided not to hack up an original 8700 mile Survivor I'm going to restore it to original except for the exhaust
Are you giving it the beans? I would expect it to be faster with 50kgs less, doesn't feel thaaaat fast

Sounds like a speed triple that just snorted an 8 ball.
Looks more like a street tracker tbf
The triple mufflers were played out in the 1970's. Just put a couple of carbon silencers.
Can't believe he didn't big-bore the engine.
😂😂 carbon mufflers! This isn’t a ninja 300
GIVE IT THE BEANS!
Wow you lucky bstrd 😮
Wow
So you modify the engine and end up with less than it had stock?
